Manicures/Nails
As a senior citizen, I have had ONE manicure previous to this experience...about 15 years ago. We were getting ready to meet friends in Myrtle Beach for a few days and I thought I would "spruce up" a bit.
The pedicure seemed okay...I had never had one before and really did not know what to expect. I was concerned that the instruments he used on me were the SAME ONES he used on the lady before me. They were not sterilized but merely sprayed with something. A disinfectant? I do not know.
The manicure floored me. I went into this business as the owner of long, natural nails...think Barbra Streisand's nails. People always comment on my nails.....they are symbolic of me. I expected this person (Asian ?) to be filed a bit and a clear polish applied. He said "Nails too long!" and clip.........they were gone !!! I could NOT BELIEVE it !!! I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. Here ladies go to acquire long, false nails : and I went in with amazing, natural nails and came out with nails 1/4 inch long !!!!!!! He cut off more than he left...see photo.
See photos. My family, children and friends could not believe it ! And I tipped him $10 to destroy my nails.
To add insult to injury, before 24 hours had passed, this manicure was pulling away from the sides and base.( The finish coat came out of the same bottle....is that normal? ) Within another 1/2 day, it was peeling and rolling up in large pieces...see photos. Silly me....I always thought you had to use polish remover to get polish off!
I returned on Saturday to complain, and they just painted another clear coat over the problem coat ! They said polish "no stay on natural nails" !!!!!! When I asked this man WHY he cut off my nails...he said he "was afraid they would break and I would hurt myself" !!!!!! I have worn my nails long for over 50 years and I have yet to "hurt myself".
