I found William D Taylor as I was researching on the internet about how to save on the cost of energy for our home. We are preparing to have our attic sealed and insulated very soon, and from the energy audit we had completed earlier by another Angie's List provider - Energeyes - we learned that we have inadequate air transfer, which not only causes there to be some rooms of the house to be cold in the winter (and we are tired of freezing!), but it can also cause your HVAC system to die before its time. As I stated previously, I found William quite by accident - he was an approved participating contractor through Duke Energy for their smart saver program (which is something else I was unaware existed - check out their webpage: http://www.duke-energy.com/north-carolina/savings/smart-saver.asp Now...after searching Duke's page and choosing a contractor to perform an HVAC health check - I chose William because his website won me over (full of info and gave me the warm fuzzies about William because it seems he's all about doing a good job and making his customers happy - http://www.a1electricalhvac.com/ I filled out an online form and William got right back to me. He got us on his schedule very quickly, arrived on time, listened attentively to all my concerns and questions, got to work right away on checking our outside unit (we have a split system), used all kinds of electronic meters and gauges, pinpointed issues that needed resolving that we didn't even know existed (we were 2 pounds low on coolant), explained to me things I was doing that were hurting instead of helping my system to work efficiently, made sure everything was set and running as it should be (which the original installers didn't seem to have bothered to do) ... all in all, I learned a lot about how to take care of, and get the best service from, my system. I was so impressed that I am now on his schedule for having my HVAC system checked and serviced twice a year - cost $180. The total paid ($403) included the service contract of $180, and 2 pounds of coolant $127.56, and the Smart Saver Energy Check $120...(the energy check is also eligible for a rebate from Duke Energy). If I could nominate William for the page of happiness, I would. He was great! If you are looking for an HVAC guy who is knowledgeable, does a thorough job, and is altogether honest, then call William. I didn't think it was possible to find someone like Mr. Taylor in this day and age: he does quality work, goes above and beyond your expectations, and really cares about his customers. My husband and I were excited to have found someone who provides such excellent service and is so trustworthy. Mr. Taylor was a great find!
