The Appliance Center

I purchased all of my appliances from them 18 years ago and was very satisfied. My refrigerator "died" last week so I went straight back to them. I really try to purchase locally. Well, they are as good as I remembered. They found a perfect replacement for me at a great price. The delivery personnel were wonderful. Why would anyone buy from a "big box" store when such a great local company is here in Durham?

Our 17 year old dishwasher broke down and we decided to replace it since it had been repaired a couple of times. I called The Appliance Center and researched what they had over the Internet because I am disabled. I had purchased all my appliances from them in 1999 when I remodeled my kitchen and had been pleased. I also felt I would want to replace the dishwasher with another Bosch since I liked the old one so much. They were willing to match a slightly lower price I found online and took my credit card information over the phone. Next day they promptly delivered and installed my wonderful new dishwasher. As always, I'm very pleased with them.

Two weeks later, our 17 year old refrigerator broke down and they were accommodating enough to deliver us a new one the very next day also!

They have fabulous customer service, very knowledgeable staff and they're helpful after the purchase of products. I would absolutely use them again.

After reading other reviews, I expected that it would take a long time, but it was ready in 10 days as they said. It worked in the shop, but next day the switch stuck again. I took it back and they repaired it. We've had no more problems with it. By the look of the shop they are quite busy. I appreciate that they made good on their work with no problems, and would definitely take an appliance to them again.

Our kitchen contractor suggested the Appliance Center and it was a great experience. The sales staff was very knowledgeable. Unlike the big box stores, they actually know their product lines. We worked with Mr. Ovenden who didn't up-sell or over-sell, and who was able to answer all our questions with great patience. Everything was in stock, and the prices quoted were comparable to the big boxes. They worked seamlessly with our contractor, showed up when they said they would, helped us get our rebates, and called to follow up when one item got delivered early. While we don't usually shop in Durham, this company will be our go-to when we next need appliances.

In terms of sales, the guy was great. However, installation didn't go so well. I had to try to contact them to get the appliances installed many times. After a while, I just had to pick a day and ask them to come out.

We moved into a newer home and the oven went bad. We chose The Appliance Center to purchase our new oven from. We liked that they were willing to match the price from any other retailers and that they did not try to sell us anything that we were not looking for. They were honest about when it would be delivered. I would purchase from The Appliance Center in the future.

Very knowledgeable staff and friendly. No pressure. Easy to complete transaction, even working through a builder.

This was a replacement for a second, basement refrigerator. I needed a basic model without bells and whistles. They had a compatible model on the floor, and arrangements were quick and easy. I would have preferred immediate delivery, but the truck had just departed with today's deliveries, and because of the holidays, was delayed until the following week. Salesman was knowledgeable and helpful.
