Darin Beery was here on time. He examined the piano. It is 28 and had not been tuned in 25 years. He discussed what he could do in the amount of time we had scheduled. He carefully cleaned the piano. He tuned it beautifully. The tune was far more complete and accurate than I thought possible for one tune. After he finished tuning he discussed other thing we should consider in the next tuning. He said he would send a report with suggestions which he has already done. Then he played a little Rachmaninoff for me to hear the unbelievable pitch improvement. I have already scheduled my next cleaning. It was a wonderful experience which exceeded my expectation. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to any piano owner.

After inheriting this piano I checked Angie's list for a piano tuner and found a $99 Deal for Barnes Piano. After purchasing the deal, I heard back the following day from Barnes' scheduler offering several days and times. I wrote back and chose a day in the following week. I did not receive any word back, but assumed that the appointment was set. When the tuner did not arrive on the day I selected I called and learned that the Angie's List Deal had overwhelmed them for a few days and the scheduler had lost track of my reply. She quickly got me on the schedule for the following week. I rated them with a B for responsiveness as a result of the scheduling mishap, but I have to cut them some slack due to the Angie's List Deal. The Scheduler also gave me some material that would help set my expectations for the additional consts I might incur after the tecnician looked at my piano. Their web site materials are quite good and very helpful in understanding the types of problems a piano might have and the costs for fixing these problems. The tuner, Darin, arrived on time and came well-prepared for the job. He was very professional and personable, answering all of my questions thoroughly and earnestly. He inspected the piano and determined that I would need an intermediate tuning because it had been so long since the last tuning and the piano had been moved. He let me know before he got started (and I expected this would be the case) that my piano needed more than a basic tuning. I was aware of the price range for intermediate tuning thanks to the materials the scheduler gave me. He calculated my additional cost and made sure I agreed. He cleaned the inside of the piano, which was extremely dirty, then began tuning. It took him about 90 minutes to tune it as he had to run through it twice. He explained to me that as you tune each string, the entire level of tuning changes as you proceed, so often, the tuning may need to be repeated multiple times to get it right. He removed the old dampchaser and advised not to use this because it would cause more problems than it solved in our NC climate. He made some minor adjustments to the action for keys that were problematic. He also found several things in need of more advanced repair or improvement when I was ready. I plan to have Barnes come back in March to complete this work and tune it again. At the end of the tuning, Darin treated me to a mini-concert--he plays beautifully! His enthusiasm for music and his knowledge of piano mechanics make him an excellent piano technician. I highly recommend Barnes Piano and Darin for piano maintenance and repair.

Darin went above and beyond what I expected and provided a detailed analysis of every aspect of the piano. His enthusiasm and expertise was clearly evident as he explained his evaluation of every component as he worked. Darin was very friendly as well and provided a highly detailed written evaluation several days later. He also advised on options for repair and selling the piano. I was very impressed and would definitely recommend Barnes piano again.

Our piano is a 41 year old Yamaha studio upright that had not been tuned for about 25 years. Our now 40-something children were the piano players, so it has only been played on an occasion when someone visits. When the tuner arrived he played a little and told us that our piano was VERY out of tune, so the special price would not be enough to get it back in tune and estimated what the extra time would be and therefore the extra price. Darin spent over 4 hours working on the tuning and demonstrated a couple times issues such as a B actually sounding higher than the A next to it. He explained that as he worked on the strings the pressure of tightening the higher notes would throw the lower notes that had already been tuned back out of tune, so he would have to do those again. As he was finishing Darin played a full scale and then a couple numbers demonstrating that the piano was now in wonderful tune. We are very satisfied and will not wait as long to have the piano tuned the next time. The scheduling was more difficult than we had hoped. They had to reschedule the first time, and then we had to reschedule the second time we chose, so that the elapsed time from booking to completion was quite long. We had no time pressure for the tuning to be completed, so the scheduling was not a problem, only an inconvenience.

He also tuned it. He was a very personable and professional young man, and explained what he was doing in terms we could understand. We especially appreciated the flexibility Barnes Piano displayed; they were very accommodating of our fluid schedule and had no problem rescheduling when our plans changed.

Darin was a few minutes late but he called and explained he would be arriving shortly as he had gotten our address confused with another client's address. He was very apologetic for the delay and got started right away. He explained what he would be doing and asked if I had any questions. I explained that the piano had not been tuned for at least twenty or twenty-five years. He asked the age of the piano and I could not find the info the original owner had given us when we bought the piano. We are the second owner and we bought it hoping our younger son would take lessons, which he did for 10 years. After he finished high school and college it has not been played very much. I play some but not very well as I didn't have lessons but a short time but also play by ear. I will definitely play more now. I was very pleased with Darin's professionalism and will recommend him to my friends as I have several who are interested in having their piano tuned. I look forward to him returning when it needs another tuning.

Barnes Piano was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process, from scheduling our piano tuning to performing the actual tuning itself. Scheduling was a breeze, and they were very communicative and responsive to our specific needs. Our poor piano was horribly out-of-tune - it had not been tuned in years and had survived 2 moves as well in the meantime. Darin came to tune it and was wonderful throughout the whole process. He was right on time and very polite and friendly. He explained everything that he was doing and the reasons for it, and even taught me some about physics! He very obviously knew what he was doing, and appeared to enjoy doing it. Our piano (not surprisingly) needed a little bit extra than the basic tuning included in the Angie's List deal, but Darin explained what was necessary and provided information about the reasons for and costs of the extra services and obtained permission before performing the work that needed to be done. Our piano now sounds wonderful again! I highly recommend Barnes Piano and would most definitely use them again for our future piano needs.

Darin Berry was our piano tuner from Barnes Piano, located in Durham, NC. He was punctual, polite and very effecient. He went out of his way to discuss my piano, it's history and it's function. I couldn't have been more pleased.

Darin, the "piano artisan" arrived punctually at the appointed time and very professionally assessed the state of our old piano, which hadn't been tuned in years. He explained the issues and options involved with the instrument, taking into account our intended future use of the piano, and proceed with the job. Because the piano was so out of tune, he was at it for more than an hour, but when he was done, it sounded very good. He provided options for future maintenance, which we could or could not go with. All in all, our experience with Darin was very pleasant, and we were highly satisfied with the quality of his work.

The very professional tuner arrived right on time and got straight to work on our Yamaha piano. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had not had the piano tuned in several years (all the children who played it are out of the house now) but the technician understood the situation and did not make us feel irresponsible. He took his time and did a very thorough job. We were very pleased and will definitely use his services again.

We had moved our piano for two times and have not tuned the piano for more than 3 years. Several keys does not play properly. On average, the keys are out of tune for almost 20%. Darin was very punctual, professional and knowledgeable. He spent about 3 hours tuning the piano and evaluated the regulations and explained in great details to us about the issues. We had a wonderful tuning experience and are very pleased with his service.

Mr. Darin Beery serviced our piano on September 26. I observed him from a distance, and asked questions as appropriate. He was knowledgeable, professional and polite in responding to my questions. He took the time that was needed to service the piano, checking regularly to ensure the repairs were germane. He worked diligently for the duration of his time here, and demonstrated the performance of our piano by playing a beautiful piece of classical music when he finished. We are very pleased with his service.

The original appointment was for tuning only, although I knew at the time that the piano required much more extensive work. Everything was explained to me in detail along the way. Absolutely delightful people, remarkably punctual and a pleasure to work with. I would absolute recommend them and use them again.

I purchased the Big Deal to have my piano tuned. The heavily discounted price was actually more than I'd ever paid for a piano tuning. Now I know why! My 20 year old piano has never had such thorough & high quality care as that provided by Barnes Piano Services. Barnes Piano Services diligently managed the communication & appointment scheduling, was punctual & highly professional. A full assessment of the piano's condition was done, the results were explained and corrective recommendations were made in a manner assuring my full understanding. I elected to have the major adjustments and cleaning done, Barnes Piano Services was able to extend the appointment and complete the work the same day. I not only have a piano that sounds & performs as it was designed to, as a bonus I learned a lot and have a better understanding of how to properly care for my piano. I am very impressed with Barnes Piano Services, they distinguish themselves from other piano tuning services by the high quality of the service they provide.

The company was very helpful in advising me on the planned move of the piano and the need to wait a significant time after the move before tuning. After a separate appraisal of the piano's value, costs of moving, repair and tuning was going to significantly exceed the piano's value. Having been stored in a damp basement room with a chronic sho dust environment for about 8 years, expensive cleaning and repair was necessary. Note: I have no complaint with company which was prompt and professional in a quick reply to my inquiry after picking this deal.

It was excellent! I loved the representative that I had, his name was Daren Berry. I have them scheduled to come back in March for general maintenance. Everything is online and you can pay for it using the square so everything was taken care of while he was here.

We inherited a well-used piano about three years ago. We hadn't had it tuned or serviced since we took ownership of it, so it was way overdue for some TLC. So when I received a "Big Deal" from Angie's List for piano tuning I thought we'd be set. I had done some research into piano tuning before singing up for the service so I'd know what I was getting into. Everything I read said the tuning would likely be expensive...and it was. But that wasn't Barnes' fault. I shouldn't have let it go that long. Anyway, Darin, the tuning tech from Barnes Piano showed up to our home on time. He was very professional. He did an initial "look over" of the piano and spent time with us trying to understand how we use the piano. Once he got a sense of what kind of tuning he should do, he explained all the steps in the process and showed us the various functional parts of the piano. He even encouraged our young kids (5 and 8) watch what he was doing. The tuning took several hours (it was so out of tune it needed to be tuned 3 times), but the piano sounds great now. Overall, we had a great experience with Barnes Piano and Darin. I'd definitely use them again.

Company gets an "A" in communication skills for sure. As soon as they were notified I had purchased their "deal" they contacted me to let me know they do not provide service in my town. They recommended a couple of other providers to contact and suggested that I apply for a refund from Angie's List. Great customer service, even when no service was provided!!!

Antony Pascali is the piano technician and he is the owner as well. He is very professional and listens to what I want. Pianos can be tuned to different pitch levels like an A on a piano might be 440, 442 or 445. He wants to know what a particular person's needs are. He is very knowledgeable. Price wise, he is comparable to other people.

I purchased a Big Deal and the work was completed by Darin Beery. Barnes replied within hours to my request, scheduled an appointment within a week and Darrin showed up on time and ready to go. They clearly explained any additional charges before coming and when they arrived. Darin is very passionate about piano's and music and his enthusiasm showed in his work. Our piano is old and has a number of issues, Darin answered all my questions when he knew them, and was good about taking notes and promising to get back to me on those where he was unsure. He did a great job, and I'd happily recommend him/Barnes to others.

We have used Barnes Piano for several years and are so excited they have come to Raleigh! Darin serviced our piano. He showed up early with a smile on his face and could not have been more professional. He explained everything I needed to know about what he was doing, and he was more than willing to answer any questions. Our piano once again sounds wonderful! My five year old daughter sat down to practice after he left, and she immediately noticed the change and said, "Mommy something is wrong with our piano. It sounds different."
