For an individual with minimal know-how and physical and mental stamina for yard work, Pleasant Green is an investment that produces valuable dividends. Steve and Wyatt have been punctual, friendly, kind, efficient, and encouraging. Scott is patient with my ignorance; Pleasant Green provides excellent service plus an education! Charlene is a cheerful and efficient on-line presence. I believe my grass is becoming happier too. Thanks to Everyone at Pleasant Green.

Mark and Bridgett were both great to work with. Mark is very creative and knowledgeable, and will work with you to make your ideas a reality, while adding in suggestions of his own if you want them. I have a difficult, very shady back yard, and Mark was very flexible and enthusiastic as we refined the plan to come up with a great solution for what to do with it. I had a lot of questions, which were all responded to quickly. I am very, very pleased with the result. Mark also took care of some drainage issues for me. I will be using Pleasant Green Grass again in the near future to do some additional work on the front side of the house.

We are in our second year of Pleasant Green Grass taking care of our lawn. Initially the front lawn was sparse with lots of bare patches of earth with no grass. The first season after our second treatment with the team laying a layer of compost over the entire lawn, the front lawn looked AMAZING! Never would have known a month earlier that it was sparse and bare looking. My neighbor was amazed, telling me she couldn't believe the transformation. And she couldn't see any of the weeds anymore. And well over a year later, she still comments on how lush and full my lawn is. In our second season, we opted to do the compost top dressing treatment again (it's a suggested addition to the basic lawn care) and the lawn in so full and beautiful. It needs to be mowed every week now that it's so healthy. When it was in poor shape I was only mowing to keep the weeds down. My back yard is taking a bit longer to heal. Shortly before we had Scott come out to look at our lawn, we had a landscaper work on our backyard. They did an awful job on the re-sodding of our lawn. When Scott came to do our initial estimate he commented on how an area looked like it got an extreme amount of wear... it was only months old. So it hadn't seen the extreme wear that it looked like it had. Another area was so full of weeds, he couldn't believe the sod was so recent the way it looked. Well the worn areas are full and lush and the weeds, while not completely gone, are down tremendously from our starting point. Scott started treatment in June 2016 and 15 months later we have an enviable lawn (minus a few weeds still hanging around.) Scott and team also did a full soil analysis to understand what additional treatments would bring our soil back to healthy. Once the soil analysis was back we received a detailed report on what nutrients/minerals were in the correct ranges and why each was important (and that we didn't need lime...) as well as what was not optimal and the plan of how to correct it. My lawn only required gypsum (so they weren't trying to sell me on needing all these extra supplements, just what was needed.) They gave me details on how they planned to correct it (3 treatments spaced 6 months apart - $50 a treatment, so again not crazy expensive, either.) I will not put toxic chemicals on my lawn (really, who wants that in their drinking water! if only people would realize that is where those chemicals end up). My husband has mostly come around and isn't calling to douse the weeds with that nasty herbicide that starts with an R, based on the amazing transformation of our yard. I also love that I can have my lush lawn and keep my pollinator garden at it's finest with the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds super happy! I had an estimate for garlic mosquito spray earlier this year and didn't go with it because I felt it was pricey over the course of the summer. My less than a quarter acre lot (including my house) was about $75 per spray; it's needed every 3 weeks and PGG requires a 'contract' of a minimum of 6 times. I wasn't sure i wanted to spend that much for a mosquito free yard. I'm wishing I would have done it now as I can't walk outside for more than a minute without several mosquito bites. Next year I'm sucking it up and having it done so i can enjoy running around in my lush lawn. I highly recommend Pleasant Green Grass and their ability to transform lawns into lush landscapes naturally and oh so quickly. My yearly cost with the compost top dressing option is about $750, without compost, about $550. You can even purchase an organic NC Christmas tree from them that they deliver to your door! No nasty toxic chemical residue in our home from the other local trees.

Green Horizon was super easy to work with. They came out quickly to give us an estimate. We were able to use a Duke Energy credit as well.

After about a year, our lawn looks really good. It takes longer than other services, but the wait is worth it. We are very happy with the organic treatments. For lawn mowing, we wanted to use them, and they came to our house to give an estimate. It took a couple of weeks to get the quote. When it finally arrived, we learned that we'd need to be on a waiting list for over a month before we would know if they could provide us with service. I would have preferred they let us know about the waiting list at the beginning of the process. For landscaping, someone came out to discuss ideas and give an estimate for work. After not hearing from them for two weeks, I contacted them to get the quote. At that time, I found out that the job was too big for them. Again, I wish they had better communication with me. But again, I'm very happy with the organic treatment and would recommend them for that.

They hired a new guy and said he had performed the service but I could not find evidence that they were here. They are truly organic. I feed the birds and care about the wildlife.

Best responsiveness for scheduling and communication I've worked with in any home contracting so far!

Informative - Even if you are a DIY type they will do what you ask and give you tips going forward.  I was very appreciative of that because I only wanted an aeration so I can try the seeding and fertilizing myself.

Took multiple passes over the yard and did not skimp like I hear others doing.

We liked Pleasant Green at first. they called right away, came out, gave us an estimate, worked with our natural looking landscape plan, and desire for native plants. Did the work and stuck to the estimate. We liked that they didn't use chemicals. That was last winter.

The spring ice storm hit and the came right away and took out a tree that was blocking our driveway. But also a tree had fallen across our neighbor's fence, and we asked them to take that out. They took out half of it, one of their chain saws broke, and then they left and never called. WE had to call THEM to come back and finish the tree and get paid. Then they had promised to do monthly maintenance starting in the spring and to check our tons of buried soaker hoses, which always need yearly maintenance, and it just didn't happen and they never showed.

So they were a good company when they came to do the work. but not reliable hence the mediocre review.

The whole experience from beginning to end went well. Scott laid out different options, I picked what I wanted (grass was less expensive than alternative ground cover) and they planted when they said they would. One of my neighbors said this was the first time they remembered it being green.

1-- Mowing:  This part of their service went well for the first couple of times they came.  After that, it appeared that who ever was responsible for my lawn was in a rush.  Pine needles were still in the yard and on the drive and walkway.  In Scott's defense, I must say that when I first called him, he told me that he was extremely busy.  Had he been too busy to properly tend to my yard, I would have thought he would have said so.

2-- Cleaning Gutters:  Scott told me that they cleaned gutters as a part of their service.  When I arrived home after they had been there to "clean" the gutters, I could not believe what they had done-- or better said, not done.  There were leaves and debris all over the walk and at the sides of my house.  As for the roof, it was still laden with pine needles.  The charges for that service were taken off my bill.  When I spoke with Scott, he advised that his crew leader had to leave early that day and did not check behind his workers.  He did apologize offer to have someone come over and clean the leaves and debris from my yard if I wanted him to.  Had he said that he was sending someone over to do that, I would have thanked him.  But the way it was put, I declined and cleaned it up myself.

Response from Pleasant Green Grass
"I feel really bad about what happened. I talked to the crew the next day about the job. My crew was also at the house across the street cleaning up leaves. A few crew members came over to clean the gutters, but only got part of the work done before realizing they needed blowers to continue the cleanup. The blowers were all being used across the street so they went back over to help. They forgot to return to the gutter job to finish up. The crew leader had to leave before the jobs were done and didn't get a chance to look over the properties. That was my fault for sending him on another errand. Again, I felt really bad and was quite embarrassed to get that call from Diane about her gutters. She is right I should have sent someone right over to finish the job, but I decided to ask her instead. She declined so the least I could do was not charge her anything. Of course looking, back I would have handled the situation differently. Thanks for the feedback."

We have been through two lawn treatments with Pleasant Green Grass and have seen pretty substantial improvements with the lawn compared to what we started with.   I originally thought using Organic fertilizers would take longer than synthetic fertilizers,  but I am seeing definite improvement without the burn you sometimes see after synthetic fertilizer applications.   Scott does a great job coordinating through email.  If I have questions or need to schedule,  exchanging emails works very well.  I also like once a service has been completed,  I get an email and can pay online.  The people who arrive to do the work are very punctual and first rate.  They let me know what they are going to do and provide clear instructions on what I need to do after they leave (watering schedule etc).

I called Scott from Pleasant Green Grass in September and asked if he would be able to work me in during that month for over-seeding and aeration of a fescue lawn.  He worked with me to get the work completed in a very short amount of time, which was great.  His crew came out mid-week to do a close cut on the lawn, then again on Friday to do the aeration and over-seeding.  I've been watering for the last three weeks, and the lawn looks fantastic.  I am especially happy as the aeration did not totally wreck the grass that was already there (and still healthy in most spots).  Other companies I've used in the past rip the existing lawn to shreds - that was not the case here.
Scott also gave advice on a soggy patch of ground near my AC unit and how to fix that, though we haven't decided to have that work done yet.

We've had fantastic experiences with Pleasant Green Grass.  I had first used them to aerate the lawn and found them to have the best price for that individual service.  We had been looking for someone to provide annual care and preferred a company that took steps to be environmentally friendly.  Their pricing and treatment regimens are clearly delineated on their website.  Scott Walker has never taken more that 24 hours to respond to an email, and they have a convenient online system for paying invoices.  We're thrilled with how our lawn looks now and definitely can recommend Pleasant Green Grass.
