Mr. Handyman of Chapel Hill & West Durham

A couple of pieces of siding fell of the top of my house during a windstorm and since most siding companies only do whole exterior replacements, I called Mr. Handyman to get someone out to put the wind-blown siding back up. They said that they charge $168 for the first hour, and that if I already had the siding on hand, it shouldn't take more than an hour to put up. My technician arrived promptly at 9:00 AM, and within thirty minutes I knew that he was set to go well beyond the first hour. (I don't think this was the technician's fault by the way, I think its an administrative issue). Ultimately, putting up roughly 3 pieces of siding took two hours and thirty minutes! The work was good on visual inspection, but I was in no way prepared for the cost of the service (estimated at over $300). As a note, I previously had a section of siding replaced by a general contractor (who sourced and provided the siding) for the same amount and it took no more than 30 minutes. Luckily, my technician was sympathetic and charged me for only the first hour, but I think its really unfair to both the consumer and the technician that the front office is quoting times that are either a) completely unrealistic or b) that they have no intentions of being accountable to. A company that treats its clients and employees this poorly should not be patronized. Go to an independent handyman instead!

It was great! The handyman was so kind and knowledgeable. I appreciated his help thinking through the issue I had with our existing fence and coming up with a solution that met our needs. He was great and would check in with me to make sure he was accomplishing what I wanted.

Excellent job by Mr. Handyman of Chapel Hill for what turned out to be a complicated installation of a new set of attic stairs. A little bit pricey, but still worth it, especially given how long the job took.

Shane sent an employee whom I had not seen reviewed, Gary. He did everything we asked him to do, and he did it well. We recommended his services to a daughter in the area. So from reading all the reviews, Shane must have a stable of competent handymen! We have a larger project, a patio repair job, and we plan to use the company for that as well. I'm sure it will be someone different, but I am just as confident it will be a good person and that the job will be done well.

We had Sam from Mr. Handyman come out to replace our garbage disposal. The service was extremely professional, and he was thorough. He took the time to discuss the issue with the current disposal to ensure he couldn't correct the problem without replacing the unit. Once the installation began, it was a quick process, and Sam even explained how to troubleshoot a couple of common small issues (jam, reset) in the future should we need the information. As a homeowner, it's nice to be confident in a handyman service for items that you don't have the time or know how to complete yourself. I'm certain we will use the Mr. Handyman services again and feel that our money is being well spent for quality care and expertise on a variety of home needs.

Sam did a fantastic job in both areas! He really went above and beyond in my attic. If you want quality work, Sam is your guy. Shane was great to work with as well. He made sure everything went smoothly and that I was happy with the results. Will definitely be using them again!

Our service technician, Jason, was professional, knowledgable, and courteous. He handled all of our projects quickly and expertly. Additionally, he was very aware of our home and made sure to keep it clean as he worked. All work performed exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to using Mr. Handyman in the near future on additional projects.
