HAY'S HEATING & AIR COND

They are wonderful. They were prompt and send out a good repairman. They went through look for everything and fixed things quickly and reasonably. I use them for my air conditioning and heating service.

They were very down to earth, understanding, and knowledgeable on the phone and in person. Our heater went out during the ice storm and while I had to work, my wife was home sick with the flu. The inside temp had gotten down into the 50s and Hay’s was the only group answering the phones and running jobs. They came out within 1-2 hours and had us up in running in now time. They turned a really unlucky and unfortunate situation around very quickly. I’d highly recommend them.

Excellent service, the technician diagnosed the problem and explained it well, and the work was performed correctly with no problems. Well done.

I've been using them now for the past five or six years. I've had other companies which did not work out very well. I have a contract so there was no charge at all for this service in April. They do their job. They come in and clean it all up, so still give them an A. I think they do a great job. I've had other companies come in that look like they're doing a tune-up, but it's not really a tune-up. They call me usually for service tune-ups, but I think I called them this year. We set it up, they had an open date that was convenient for me, so it was set that day and a week later they did the tune-up. They come when they're scheduled. If there's a problem before they come here, they let us know they'll be here or they're gonna be late, so punctuality is good based on that. Most companies don't even do that.

From what I can tell, it's a very good price. The quality of the unit is excellent; great. I called, they were here within the same day, and within a couple of days they were installing. We've had no problem with their punctuality, only if they have an emergency before coming here and they let us know, so it's okay. I would rate their professionalism very high. Absolutely I will use them again; I've got a contract with them. It took them a whole day to put in that unit, and the workers, if you had a question, they'd answer it. The area was all cleaned up when they left - no messes at all.

Varied. We had a bid from Hays when one unit fried all of its electricals. Tony came out and did a thorough diagnosis, explaining the options. Hays was very responsive and got two new units in place and running the cool side in two days. Excellent! Follow-up work was a bit spotty as they cycled through different crews and the detail work dragged on - we needed a couple of call-backs to get everything working properly on the heating side.

Showed up as planned, did the work as quoted, billed me as agreed. Could not ask for an easier deal. I got many quotes for HVAC and Hay's showed up, did what they said they would. Perfect.

I wanted a Trane unit because of the positive Consumer Reports reviews of the units over the years.  I generally try to buy from Durham businessmen but the Angies List and BBB reviews of the Durham Trane dealers weren't all that promising.
Hay's reviews looked good and my phone conversations with them were very positive.  Mike came out the day after I called and suggested three different options.  He had me comparisons and pricing for the 3 options in a couple of days.  Once I researched and made my selection, he was able to install within a week.  The installers were clean, professional and quick.  They came a couple hours later than I expected, but were done in half the time of previous installers.
We used the furnace a bit in April and have just started using the A/C unit.  The Hay's pricing was comparable to a much inferior Coleman product that I had removed.  So far, it's dependable and shockingly quiet.  I'm really pleased with the choice of Trane and happy I went to a Hillsborough installer for the service.  I haven't yet had to use him for service, but Mike's been great so far and the products he's installed are rock solid.

Called at 800 in morning and left message.  They returned call within one hour and tech was at my house at 330 same afternoon.  Polite, friendly, wore protective shoe covers.

Despite multiple requests, Mike never showed me where the filters were so that I could change them.  I didn't find out where they were until the system shut down, in part due to clogged filters, and his technician showed me where they were, behind a screwed on panel on the system outside. 

Mike didn't return multiple phone calls over problems with the system  The builders specs called for the system to be balanced for the building. This was never done.  I called back several times to try to get this done. Eventually, they came out and put in diffusers, which helped some,  but didn't solve the problem because they never balanced the system.  I had several service calls to try to get the system working properly, but it still doesn't. My power bills were easily double what they should have been last the winter.  I found them to be unreliable with their follow up on problems with their work. The technicians seemed to be competent when they came out, but the office was not as responsive as I feel they should have been at getting to the root cause of the problems.  I've had to hire another HVAC company to come in and fix the mess that they left of my system. After my experiences with them, I don't trust Hay's Heating and Air to get it done correctly.

They offered me a service contract, but, in my opinion, it was overpriced by several hundred dollars over what a trusted and reputable competitor charges for the same scope of work.  I will not use them again.

Tony and Mike Jr arrived promptly and immediately began the job. The job involved snaking wires from a second floor bedroom into the attic. It required a large drill bit and some difficult maneuvering but they completed the work efficiently and without problems. I was impressed with their attention to detail. I have used Hays on previous occasions and have always been satisfied with the results. The company has courteous and competent technicians and the cost is always very reasonable.

They are awesome. Their service is always professional. I have good repure with one of their technicians, Tony, who has always been willing to come out and answer my questions.

The job was done promptly and they fixed the issue I was having.

Called Hay's at 6 pm Tuesday. A woman answered the and took all of my information and said they would fix my air the next day. Received a call at 7:45 am the next day that Tony was on his way to fix my system. He efficiently and thoroughly evaluated and diagnosed my problem (blower fan module). The system was still under parts warranty. Tony immediately drove to buy the part, returned within minutes, and installed the new blower fan module. The part was nearly $600 (but cost nothing under warranty). Tony was professional and courteous through the entire visit and ensured the system was working correctly before he left. Kudos to Hay's Heating and Air for such ideal service.

My heat stopped working. I called Hay's because they were the company that had replaced my heat pump years years earlier when a tree fell on it. I was told the compressor was bad. It was under warranty, but I had to pay for labor. They were extremely cagey about the entire process and would not answer my questions about the warranty. I had to find out that information on my own, even though they had installed the heat pump! One month ago, my air conditioning stopped working. I called a different Heating/A/C company because I had had it with Hay's. When I told the service person that I'd had the compressor replaced back in the winter, he told me that the reason the A/C wasn't working now was because the company that replaced the compressor should have come back out to the house once the outdoor temperature increased because the amount of freon needed to be re-calibrated but could only be done once it was warmer outside. So I had to pay ANOTHER company to come out and do the work that Hay's should have done. I would have pressed the issue with Hay's but am so fed up with them that I didn't even bother. I am working with Morrissey Mechanical in Raleigh from now on!

Tony has been out to our house twice now, once to fix the antiquated oil furnace, and again to fix the slightly newer air conditioning. Both times he had been courteous and professional, and fixed the unit with a minimum of fuss. Bonus - my cats like him!

We lost our heat just as the weather was turning colder. We got three bids for the new unit, new duct work and the labor, within a 3 day period. They all knew what they were doing and had years of experience. But there was a bit of price difference and Hay's came out on top. They came on the promised day, and got the whole job done in one day, as promised. We are very pleased.
