Basically If you just want an oil change, perhaps you can just say ' oil change only' But it seems part of their business model to recommend additional services.
I do note that the manager of the Havoline place has changed in the last 4-5 months and that is when this practice appeared to get much worse, under the new management. I felt in better hands under the previous manager.
There are 5 other car care centers within about 1.5 miles of their location. I have found one that does not seem to follow this practice and will see if they keep up the good work.
