Our back yard ends in a lovely small forest, and the view is one of the things that we love about the house. A dead tree recently fell and has been leaning against a healthy tree, so we had to hire a service to remove the dead tree (these are VERY tall trees at around 100+ feet). My partner found Grateful Trees and Bees. This is an amazing business. One of their employees, Jake, is a former forestry service ranger and an arborist. In addition to being a lovely human, his knowledge of trees and their health is vast. He and two assistants arrived this morning and got the tree down with minimal effort in about 30 minutes. It was impressive to watch the whole process. They placed the remains in the forest to serve as detritus for the rest of the forest and its creatures. Their prices are VERY fair and also on a sliding scale based on the ability to pay, which is AMAZING for those who need it because having a tree removed can be extremely expensive. I love their commitment to the health and sustainability of the trees. I honestly cannot recommend them enough if you need any tree-related services. They also provide beekeeping services!

This went wonderfully. Although I haven't scheduled any work to be done as of yet, the service itself along with the knowledge of the business owner (Jacob Pressley) was invaluable. Jacob is an arborist, not just some guy with a chain saw. He knows which trees do and do not need attention.

"Jake is a college trained arborist with a passion for trees.  He can advise you on all your tree needs.  I learned alot. It was a pleasure to work with he & his men.  He builds a strong team spirit.
The area around my house feels more open & filled with light.  My lot is heavily wooded. Jake advised me how to preserve my trees, while giving them "air" &  a healthy future.
Thank you, Jake!
Jake was recommended to me by my organic lawn service.  I love nature.

A violent storm blew through the neighborhood and took down a pine tree in my back yard. It broke off about 10' from the ground. I called Jake from Grateful Trees and Bees to remedy the problem. I purchased firewood from him last fall and liked his attitude towards nature and he seemed to have a good work ethic. Jake was eager to help me out. I sent him photos of the fallen tree and let him know what I wanted to do about it. He laid out my options and after considering them all, we set a date.
Jake arrived a little early on the day of the job and started work immediately. First he leveled the stump, then he chopped up the trunk into 18"-24" slices and moved about 30 sections across the yard to my fire pit (going to use it to burn fires in the fall). The rest of the tree was dispersed among the natural areas of my 1.5 acre lot to decompose naturally.
Jake also took the time to answer questions I had concerning other trees that worried us (Will it fall on the house? How healthy is this tree? This one seems hollow, does it need to be removed? etc...)
Jake is very knowledgeable and credible. He has a passion for trees and the environment I have not seen in any other arborist I have spoken with. He will give you his honest opinion even if it means that the requested job won't yield as much money as it could. I would definitely use Jake again and would recommend him to anyone looking to have a tree removed, trimmed, or has questions about trees on their property.
