About us
I started my Home Inspection business here in the Triangle area in 1994. My original experience was as a licensed general contractor with experience in the design, construction and renovation of homes in Durham, Chapel Hill, and Atlanta, Ga, but have been a full time Home Inspector here in North Carolina since 1997. My goal is to serve my clients by providing a thorough and detailed inspection that can give you a realistic picture of the home you are buying or selling. The inspection also includes free phone or e-mail consultation as long as you are living in the home. The report I use has been developed over the last 27 years of experience, and exceeds the requirements of the N.C. and ASHI Home Inspector Standards of Practice. It is a semi narrative with photos included in the summary. I try to write the reports so that realtors and repair contractors who may not have been at the inspection can understand what needs to be done, and why I consider it to be important. One of my long time goals has been to help improve the quality and professionalism of this industry. I have trained several other Home Inspectors and am currently an approved field trainer by the NC Home Inspector Licensure Board. I am past President of the N.C. Licensed Home Inspector Association, the state's largest association of Home Inspectors, and have served two terms totaling 8 years on the N.C. Home Inspector Licensure Board. During this time I chaired the Standards and Rules committee for three years, the Complaint Investigations and Education committees and served two terms as Board chairman. This has given me the opportunity to see the big picture of this industry and offer ideas on how we Inspectors can improve our services to the general public. Additional email - [email protected].

Fred was wonderful to work with. He was very upfront about the process, charges, and everything was online, which was great given the current covid-19 pandemic. He was extremely thorough - he took 3 hours to carefully go through the entirety of the 2700 square foot townhome we are purchasing. He then spent an additional 20 minutes explaining each item to us in detail, which was great for a novice home buyer, like myself. He included photos of each item in the report, which was helpful to show the home owners and to serve as reminders. He was a pleasure to work with, and I'd absolutely hire him again!

Fred did exactly what I hoped an inspector would do. He went over the home with a fine-toothed comb, from the foundation to the roof, and everything in between. He provided a very thorough and detailed report, and was available for all follow-up questions. He made sure we understood the significance and urgency of all the items on the report. He was very professional and knowledgeable, and did not rush through any of the process. It was an all-around great experience.

Before we purchased the house in August , Fred did the home inspection for us. He was very thorough, very responsive and it was a pleasure to work with him. Excellent. Fred exceeded my expectations with his thoroughness. I accompanied him throughout. He answered my concerns & reassured me in some areas. He did find a plumbing leak at a whirlpool tub PVC connection. I was extremely grateful for his finding this else potential serious damage to the floor & ceiling below could occur.

Fred was great to work with. I had a couple of unexpected events happen in the home buying process and he was very flexible in rearranging his schedule. Fred is also extremely responsive and I couldn't ask for better communication between me, my agent, and him. His online platform is awesome in that you can schedule him, pay him, and get your report all electronically.
His report was well laid out and thorough and was generated quickly. He left no stone unturned while performing the inspection.

Our father had passed away and we needed an inspection done of his house so that we could find out what issues, if any, his house had. From my first interaction with Fred via Angie's List, he was thoughtful, professional, courteous and responsive. He's very knowledgeable. The house, in my eyes, was in a state of chaos because we are trying to make some improvements and repairs but Fred was a trooper. The inspection was thorough and completed in about 2.5 hours. The complete report with photos, comments and recommendations was delivered to my inbox within 24 hours. I would recommend Fred to anyone!

Fred was great - he didn't leave any stone un-turned and thoroughly examined all features of the house inside and out. He explained things in a way I could understand and was receptive to questions. Fred was sharp, thorough, and friendly. His inspection was very detailed and responsive to my questions and concerns about the house and related issues. Following him around was educational and helpful, and his quick return on the report (and feedback through the process) was great. Fred arrived on time on the day that we agreed to. He throughly inspected the home from top to bottom and was very helpful in pointing out and explaining points of concern during the inspection process.p His final report was very detailed in documenting the results of the inspection and included detailed photographs to support his findings. I would gladly reccomend Fred to anyone that is looking to have a very thorough home inspection performed.

Fred is extremely thorough and knowledgeable. The house we had inspected is 30 years old and we had several concerns with the property. This was a rather large home, and Fred took his time examining all the nooks and crannies. He was very helpful in answering any questions that we had.
Fred was there for over 6 hours, and at the end of the inspection, he found a critical piece that may end up saving us money.
His final report was provided to us in a very timely manner and was very detailed and descriptive.
I would highly recommend Fred to anyone. His work is exemplary.
