Our first complaint is we feel much more could have gotten done in a shorter amount of time if full days worked. Showed up around 10 and gone before 3. We have a new born baby which I understand is not Mr. Sanders problem, however we asked him to remove wallpaper in 2 bathrooms and our kitchen that had a minute amount of wallpaper. Obviously repair and paint were next step for existing sheetrock. Myself and wife cannot understand why he couldn't break this work up and do one bathroom at a time. Baffles me and my wife. Thank Goodness we have a camper hooked to water, sewer and electricity to allow us to bath and care for our 3 month old. Considering he spent almost a week painting bathrooms not that large in square footage and a kitchen that only needed approximately 50sf of painting. I wish I knew how to post pictures of wood left unstained on our back porch. Mr. Sanders depended on me to remove his waste and provided little to no supervision over his help. The most appalling work was to find he used a flat sheen in our bathrooms and kitchen. Not sure where he learned to paint but as a homeowner I feel myself and others know semigloss or gloss is preferred for cleaning and preventing water saturation in sheetrock. Not sure if eggshell is rated for kitchens and baths but would have been more satisfied with this than a flat sheen.
"In response to [member name removed] review I feel it is important to stress that when removing wallpaper and preparing walls for paint, it requires primers, paints etc. time to dry before moving on to the next step. Contrary to what [member name removed] said, The time spent removing wallpaper , priming walls with an oil based paint(to ensure any residual glue would not bleed through) spackling all imperfections and painting only took three days. It is impossible to perform any additional work prior to the previous step drying, hence the shorter work days. I chose to let repair work continue over a weekend because additional repairs were required on the walls and had it been done sooner it would not have conformed to my standards.Regarding cleanup [member name removed] offered to dispose of debris. I also left the painted rooms in better shape than I found them. [member name removed] made me aware of missed areas on his deck and I responded by having those areas touched up that same day. As [member name removed]is not a professional painter, he is unaware that when painting older walls with inherent defects( as was the case in his home) the use of any paint with a sheen will only visually exacerbate those defects so in the interest of giving the best appearance for the customer we opted to use a high quality flat sheen paint that is very durable and moisture resistant. It should be mentioned that neither [member name removed] requested a different sheen and all customers have varying tastes, so there is no "standard". I assured [member name removed] that I guarantee all my work and that should there be a problem over the next 12 months I would be glad to repair it at no cost to him."
Contacted Scott via email July 19th to let him know that 3 more rotten boards plus a rotten fascia board were discovered. He had missed them during his assessment. No response. Contacted Scott via phone on the 22nd. No response.
Emailed Scott again on the 26th. He finally responded with 2 quick lines that avoided my question and he wrote, "sorry about the delay getting back to you. I should be able to take care of it mid August as planned. See you then."
Emailed him again on August 14th to get an approximate arrival date. No response. Called on the 15th and 16th and asked that he please respond. No response. My fiance called the 17th and he finally responded. He promised that he would be there in the next few days or by the absolute latest the following Tuesday. She asked that if he could not make it then to at least call or email and tell us as much. I was skeptical and called him to tell him that he needed to coordinate with me since I needed to show him the 3 new boards that needed replacing(2 floors up). You guessed it...no response. Monday evening he still had not arrived or communicated with us, so I called and let him know that I had to hear from him before he arrived and that I was " having a tough time controlling my temper at this point." Of course he no showed Tuesday and did not contact us. So I left a voice mail explaining that "he should contact me immediately and that if he did not he would deal with the consequences. " This review is "the consequences". He finally did show on September 4th and did a poor and incomplete job. Needless to say I now need to hire another contractor. Hire him at your peril.
"I can only respond to this review by stating emphatically that first and foremost Mr [member name removed] was NOT my customer. He did not pay me. If one will notice there is no contract price shown .The work was performed at the request of the previous homeowner who was paying me. Most of what he said is false. I found him to be belligerent, abusive and confrontive. To be honest he frightened me to the point that I considered contacting the authorities. Again , it must be pointed out that I was NOT his customer and under no obligation to satisfy him . My obligation was only to the prior homeowner who was very satisfied with my performance. Mr [member name removed] was not even aware of the fact that many of the repairs he requested had already been performed by the prior owner. Also, It was not me who missed an appointment but rather Mr. [member name removed] who failed to show up at the agreed time. I hope that this will clear up any confusion"
