Easy to work with, great work

I had a retaining wall built on my property by Carolina Garden Company. I was completely satisfied with their work and the finished product. From the initial estimate to the finished product there was very little that I had to do everything was taken care of and it was a very smooth process.

We paid over $10,000 for Carolina Garden Company to install brick steps at our home in February 2021. Carolina Garden Company failed to stand behind their work when the sides of the steps failed and refused to address the problem. A detailed account follows. We contacted Carolina Garden Company in December 2020 to replace flagstone and timber steps in back of our home with brick steps in order to provide a pathway for rainwater drainage. Brad from Carolina Garden Company came to our home to look at the proposed work. I showed him the steps we had built at the side of our home in 2017 for rainwater drainage that included raised edges and indicated I wanted the same design for the back of our home in order to serve the same purpose, water drainage. Carolina Garden Company quoted $9670.00 to complete the requested work. Per the company?s policy, we paid half of the cost up front. Work began on February 1, 2020. On February 9, 2020, I was told that they had completed the job. Upon inspection, I pointed out that they failed to install the raised side bricks (like the 2017 steps) needed to direct the rainwater down the steps. Brad of Carolina Garden Company wanted to construct the raised edge with masonry glue and promised that it would be as strong or stronger than cemented bricks. With this guarantee, I reluctantly agreed to the masonry glue option instead of cement. An additional $700 was charged for the raised brick sides. The job was completed using masonry glue and payment in full was rendered. By May 2021 it was clear that the masonry glue was not holding up. We began to find bricks that had fallen over and jiggled when brushed against or lightly tapped. I contacted Brad via text to address this situation and sent Brad photos of the dislodged bricks. Brad refused to remedy the problem. From his June 30, 2021 email to me: ?I have no interest in furthering this conversation nor addressing any other issues with the loose bricks.?

Work crew was top notch and foreman understood what the overall appearance would be and worked with me to make it happen.

Carolina Gardens did a wonderful job installing a new walk in our front yard. Communication was excellent. Brad and his crew were neat and professional. They did a great job of understanding exactly what we were looking to achieve and then executing it. Their price was very slightly higher than a couple of other bids but I feel it was worth it for the reliability and extra care taken to do a perfect job.

Brad Cook and his team totally replaced a very large front deck-porch including stone steps . This was a large project and Carolina Garden Company completed it on time and it was beautiful. I would highly recommend this company.

I had several quotes and Shelley was the only one who really listened to what I wanted. She came up with a great design and even suggested that we reuse some of my current shrubs. She is great to work with and was always at my home when she said she would be. Highly recommend! Now I need Brad to come out for suggestions to redo my patio.

Very friendly. Very informative. Kept me up to date on the project which was delayed by rain. Finished the project ahead of time and lowered the cost because of it.

I chose Carolina Garden Company among a total of five contenders. When I met Brad Cook, it was easy to make up my mind. He understood what I wanted, and the fact that he lives close by tells me that he's familiar with the properties of the soil and is very experienced with how to solve issues (drainage concerns) in my yard. His crew is hard-working and his rates are reasonable. I appreciate his help and may hire him again to do more work in the spring.

The owner, Brad Cook, was excellent. He communicated clearly and promptly throughout the process, was on site every day, ran the job efficiently, and delivered as promised *under* the estimate. We would highly recommend him.

Working with Carolina Garden Company was a great experience from start to finish. They installed a large (30 x 12) concrete and stone patio for us. Brad remained available for questions throughout the process. The quote that they provided was broken down in a way that no other company had done which allowed me to understand the true cost of my project. Brad helped me tweak the stone choice and get the project done within my budget. He didn't consider the project "finished" until I was happy. For that reason, I will contact Carolina Garden Company first with any projects I have in the future.
