Recently brought my ten (?) year old honda mower for service and left a $61.28 deposit (50%). Knew the transmission was not operating correctly. Got a call about a week later saying that the front bottom plate was broken and it would be $300 to repair. I told them not to bother and was told that the $61.28 was a sunk cost. When I picked it up, I noticed that on the receipt for the $61.28 that $15 of it was for "parts," i.e. Environmental Fee and Service Accessories. Now I'm not a mechanic, but I know that when you don't do any work on a machine, there are not parts or accessories, and since the oil wasn't changed, there was no Environmental impact. I asked about it and was told that this $15 is shared by everyone, regardless of the work done. That doesn't seem right to me; this is a for-profit business, not a socialistic enterprise. While they seem to know their equipment, they also seem to nickel and dime you. Won't be going back to them.

We have had the tractor since Oct. 2011 and with ONLY 18 hours on it the tractor has mechanical issues. We call Barnhill for help thinking since we bought the tractor there and it was still under warranty we would be in good hands. WRONG! When I called yesterday I was informed that to come to my home, which is ONLY 3 MILES from Barnhill's location, would be $150! I could not believe what a rip-off! I called another John Deere repair shop in Roxboro and they will pick-up our tractor for FREE, since it is still under warranty. When we purchased the tractor they was a doc fee, which we all know is pure profit and a rip off. We wanted to buy local, but I guess we will driving to Roxboro from now on!
