I have been thoroughly unsatisfied with A and L Plumbing and Piping. The owner and head plumber are nice guys, and that’s the reason for 2 stars. Otherwise, I’d steer clear. We’ve called A and L for an emergency job last year. We were new to town and there was a card in the previous owner’s file. They opened up a wall, left a large mess, said they couldn’t come back for 10 days. We ended up using a different plumber to wrap up the job. And then I completely forgot about that experience when I called them for a kitchen renovation. For the renovation, David gave me a not insubstantial estimate. He said “It doesn’t take this long, but you’re paying for my time to show up for the inspections.” Fair enough. Of the 4 days work, there were late 2, skipped one, again left a huge mess (wet carpet, etc, that I had to clean up). Then the final bill that was 30% over the estimate! I will not be returning for a third time.

I've used them several times before. They do very well with installation. They're great. The prices are much better compared to quotes I received from someone else, almost twice a less. If you're not satisfied they'll come back to fix any problems.

Good and bad. First I can't say enough good things about Mick. Great guy and good plumber. I've used him in the past and he always gets the job done. This time I had him replace 3 faucets which went great and only used one new drain with one of those faucets left the other 2 alone. On the drain it leaked immediately after install. He tightened it and it appeared good. After he left I ran some more water and noticed leaking, a lot. I called him and he told me to tighten more. I did and it helped but still leaked. Mick said it was b/c of the plastic drain that came with the unit. Maybe...Could of been the install, that said we had 2 more drains we didn't use with the other kits that we could've tried but didn't. I went out and bought a metal one that he suggested. Also a leaky pipe was attempted to fix with my provided shark bite. Looked good when he left but after a hour it had a tiny leak. I also bought a new part for him to replace. He came back out ( took 2 weeks) and finished the job. I was upset that I had to pay more money for an incomplete job. I'll admit not completely his fault. I expected to pay something but the 2nd bill was almost as expensive as the first bill. To me not acceptable. I talked with Dave and coupled with Mick the price was dropped to a reasonable price. All said, they are good people and do good work for a good price. I just wish we could have done it right the first visit and if parts were going to be a problem then I should have gotten them before the job something that could have been suggested. But more so the time b/t the job and the fix was 2 weeks? I'm reasonable, I understand they are busy and my schedule wasn't super flexible but the fix was only going to take about 1.5 hours. All in all they are good people and the situation was just one of those things that happen from time to time. I do think they could have been quicker to come back and not tried to full charge me. Also I was told they charge for the tech from the time they leave to come to your house. And they charge a truck fee. I understand one or the other but both? I wish I got paid to drive to work. I would definitely give them another chance in the future.

I give him straight A's. including the price. I had discussed ti with him what I wanted the toilets to do and he advised me on what was the right ones to get when I told him how much they were at Home Depot he told he he couldn't get them at that price. He was very honest with me.

They came out to fix a leak. After one an a half hours said they couldn't find it and then tried to charge me for three hours. Not going to use them again.

We called them at the last minute and postponed their appointment. They were good about it and didn’t charge us extra. They were very accommodating. The individual plumber who came out to our house was very personable, helpful and professional. He got the job done quickly and efficiently. Their office people were also nice and helpful.

They had to crawl 30 feet through a very tight crawl space to do the work and were more than willing to do this. They fixed the problem and in the process discovered that the washing machine in the house had been draining incorrectly. They took care of the problem.

I had received estimates from other companies that were a lot higher. This company did a very thorough job. They came in and measured everything, then obtained the heater and installed it.

While they were polite on the phone and responded fairly quickly, the quality of the work was poor. It cost $145 for nothing. (I ended up paying $235 to another company to fix the job right the first time.) The two workers only had a "blow bag", because their "drain machine" was supposedly broken. I described the problem by phone, and their Yellow Pages ad lists drains & sewers, as does their truck. They did not tell me their capabilities were limited. They had poor equipment. I had to loan them rubber gloves (after one cut his hand) and a flashlight. Thirty minutes of their two hours was spent going to True Value and Home Depot to get a stiffer blow bag when they determined theirs was too weak. They wasted time driving to Home Depot after True Value, because they said the one at True Value was too pricey!
