I ended up purchasing 3 different homes in various locations throughout North Carolina. With Pete's detailed inspections for each home we found various issues in the first 2 homes and ended up terminating the contracts at both home. Pete very thorough and answered any questions I had, weather in person or just calling him. He was worked me into his schedule on short notice 3 times too and two were on Friday and I still received the full inspections (70+ pages) that weekend. If I have to go through buying another home again in the future I'll call this company back again. Thank you Pete!!!

I had Pete inspect a home several months ago for a 203k streamlined loan. When that fell through and we found another house, I had him do that inspection too. I have been very pleased with his work. His inspection was thorough and identified a lot of issues I needed to be aware of, and he was very accessible by phone before and after the inspections. This is my first home purchase and I appreciated his knowledge and willingness to explain and give helpful context for what was in the report. The second one needed to be done in a hurry and he made it work within a couple days. He did it yesterday and I just got the report this morning. His prices are very reasonable and he gave a nice discount on the second house. Would definitely use him again.

The guy who came out from National Property Inspections answered all of our questions. He was very thorough. He also took pictures and included them in a 40 page report that he e-mailed to us. We would use their services again in the future if needed.

We made all contact and arrangements online and by email. Mr. Pete Lauterer answered our emails promptly, and explained the entire procedure; answering all of our pesky questions, and offering to answer others we may have. He can also be reached by telephone, but we tend to use online communication, since it can be answered at our convenience. We also know that inspectors are often out on a job when a phone call comes to them. Pete encouraged questions during his inspection, and gave very informative answers; fired at him from my husband and myself. We have found, during several walkthroughs, that our builder is extremely difficult to communicate with, regarding the need to repair items of his responsibility. With Pete's report in hand, it will be hard to ignore the problems in and around our home. Before we purchased our home, we had a different company do the inspection (also good at his job), but wanted a second opinion follow-up after the builder did some of his work. We have never been sure the work was done properly, and of course there are new items on the list since the initial repairs were made. For instance, we never checked whether the sink counter in the master bath was attached to the base cabinet; until we bumped up against it and the entire sink top slid six inches from the wall! Luckily, the water lines are flexible, and the drain pipe had not been tightened to the point of cracking, yet! A good tip for new home owners: tug and push on everything that is supposed to be attached to a wall or other fixtures. Slam doors, run up and down steps, and actually treat the house as it might be used on a daily basis. When in doubt, go online or to the library and look up building and construction codes. Many things the builder brushes off as "cosmetic", might be a real violation, and come back to haunt you at re-sale time! In new construction, pay attention to the stickers the building inspectors put on the windows or around the home. Take photos of the inspections, and "failed" notations for future reference.
