Southeastern Countertop and Tile

He wanted us to pay half up front. He did not put things in that were in the contact.  The work was done poorly, they messed up the carpet among other things. They allowed minimal credits and we allowed that. We have not paid them the difference yet because the work is not done to our standards.  He did not clean up after himself. They cut the tile and mixed the cement in the condo. Everything was converted! He was supposed to put in tarp to cover things. We asked him to take $150 off for not cleaning, they did to hire someone professional to come in.
He did not put in the tile that we asked for. He did not put the shower head in that I wanted or the vanity (it was supposed to have a drop down door) he just picked everything out that he wanted. When I asked him about it he told me I was the one who picked it out and approved it. He put some holes in the wall and some tiles were uneven. When he painted there were un-spackled areas and the paint was running in areas as well. He did not paint the ceiling at all. He did not put in fixtures that we wanted either. People have told us that any work over $5000 he should have gotten a permit for the work as well.   I have have asked him 4 times for an itemized reciept and he refuses to give me one. He wanted the check to be made out to C&D Construction and we thought that was a red flag as well. We met him to give him the rest of the check and told him the work was not done up to our standards. We met him August 6, 2011 to give him the remainder of the check. He yelled at us and was very confrontational and volatile. They asked me why I had an attitude. He also called me a liar.  He was so unprofessional. He told us he knew the bathroom did not look good and he did not do a good job.  I contacted them by email to get a itemized reciept and I have not heard anything still. We told them we stopped payment on the second check and he told us he was suing and putting a lean on our home. The work was supposed to be completed in three days and it ended up taking 11 days to get completed. We feel threatened by him. We are making arrangements to have work done that needs redone and when he provides us with an itemized list then we will  rectify the issues with this.
