Plumbing Work
     *   Left waste / sewer lines open to the air in the basement resulting in foul smell throughout area.
     *   Did some concrete work but left forms in floor making it impossible to proceed without removing the forms
     *   Cutout an area of concrete and did not refill it with anything - leaving the dirt under the slab open to the air resulting in a -             foul smell throughout the area.
     *   Sloppy cement work resulted in cement on the toilet flange. This cement was left to harden and now, unless I can get it -            chipped off without damaging the flange,  will interfere with a proper seal which will prevent seapage of toilet water and -            with proper seating of the toilet itself.

Install Wall / French Door in Garage Door Opening
     *   French Door did not close properly when installed.  I was told that door would settle and close better. This did not -              happen.  Door settled and now the handle is so misaligned that the door won't even close at all.
     *   Door is not sealed. There are gaps easily big enough for a mouse or other vermin to get through. When this was -               pointed out, I was told that Mr. Speed does not seal the door. I am not sure how you install a door without sealing it.
     *   The metal threshhold plate is only partially supported. If anyone were to step on the threshhold, it would bend because -               there is no support under about 1/2 of the threshhold plate. When this was pointed out, Mr. Speed said that I could get-               a piece of wood and install it myself.
     *    The garage door was not deconstructed and remains in place.  Mr. Speed built the wall & door in the garage door -               opening without removing the garage door (how do you do that!). Removing the door was clearly part of our written -               communication prior to starting any work.  Leaving the door has interfered with framing and continuiung work in the -                rest of the basement AND still must be removed.
General
     *   Borrowed tools / ladders and left them out. I had to pick up after Mr. Speed after each visit to avoid having my equipment -             left outside in the weather.
     *   Left waste / garbage.  Left cement rubble, piles of general construction debris, cigarette butts and fast food trash. Again -             I had to pick up after Mr. Speed.
     *   On one trip, Mr. Speed brought (what appeared to be) his girlfriend. She did not contribute in any way to the work but he -             did seem to be encouraged to leave as quickly as possible. Again, very unprofessional.
     *   On another occaision, Mr. Speed had his truck cleaned out.  There was equipment and debris throughout my dirveway -             AND my house was obviously not receiving full attention throughout this time.
Attitude
     *   Very difficult to work with. Mr. Speed very abruptly left my house while in the middle of "working". This was done without -             any conversation or notice of any kind -- he did not return. Coincidently, this was right after I (naively and stupidly) gave -             Mr. Speed a check that brought him to paid in full status. When I reached out to Mr. Speed to ask when we could finish -             the project(s) that had been started, he responded that "He was finished".  I specifically pointed out what was not -             finished (as described above) and then was told that Mr. Speed "would not come back for any amount of money". I was-             not offering any money and no money should have been involved since we were discussing completing the original -             terms of the projects. When I pointed out what we needed to do to proceed Mr. Speed would say it's not in the quote --             When I pointed out what was in the quote (that was not complete) Mr. Speed would point to a conversation that we had -             He clearly wanted to have it both ways -- citing the quote when convenient and citing other communications when -             convenient to him.  Throughout, he showed no willingness to work anything out.
     *   Now I am left with unfinished work that I will have to pay someone else to complete.

Conclusion
     *   In the end, there has to be a good professional attitude and relationship because no quote can possibly cover -                    every conceivable issue that can arise during these types of projects.  I was more than willing to reasonably work -             through whatever might happen but Mr. Speed was unwilling to do the same - especially after he was paid. It doesn't -             really matter to me anymore, I am taking the time to share my experience to help others avoid the experience that I had.
     *   Mr. Speed has some glimpses of potential but he has a lot o
Response from PAQ Home Improvement
"Thank you for your review, as we all know not all contractors will stand behind their work. In my case I have always done my job with the utmost integrity and professionalism. I'm aware that not all customers can be made happy but, I have a very good tract record. I completed every thing that you and I talked about and that was written up in our CONTRACT! Contracts aren't only written to protect the customer but also the contractor. I wish their was a way I could reach out to other contractors to warn them of the dangers of working with unreasonable customers. I am totally aware that there are people that try to take advantage of the contractors services. I have had very few encounters with these type people because I like to surround myself with people that possess a fair amount of common sense. Thank you for your review!"
