Owner Jeff Hodge founded Hodge Heating & Air Conditioning of Lake Norman with one employee in May 2000. The company was built on a foundation of promptness, professionalism and attention to detail. Since then, we have grown considerably, currently providing HVAC services to over 10,000 homeowners. Today, we provide systems for many of the homes in the greater Charlotte area. We hired Hodge to install a new Heat Pump/AC system in our condo in July of 2011. We were satisfied customers. Four years later in June of 2015, the A/C was not cooling effectively. Hodge came out, inspected the system for leaks and then found just that the system was ‘a little low on 410A (refrigerant)’ according to the receipt. They charged up the system billing us $60 for the coolant and $85 for labor. A month and half later, the system was again cooling poorly. Hodge returned and found that the indoor coil was leaking. Hodge replaced the coil which was still under warranty by the manufacturer (Rheem) and billed us $340.00 for labor. At the time it seemed like a fairly high price to pay for something that was still under warranty, but we paid without complaint. In March of 2018, we called Hodge because the heat pump was not functioning properly. Their technician diagnosed the problem as a defective part in the outside unit. I was informed that the cost of the part was covered under warranty, but if I went ahead with the repair, I would be on the hook for 7lbs of refrigerant ($400+) and labor charges ($340). Bottom line, the total cost to us to repair and service two defective parts that were under manufacturer warranty would have been over $1200. I spoke with Jeff Hodge and registered my displeasure. He offered a $100 discount on the service. I said that I would not refuse his offer but felt that was not satisfactory, and that I would not be calling Hodge to make any more service calls. Ultimately, he reneged on his offer and declined to perform the service. Jeff Hodge told me several times that he was being more than reasonable, and that I should compare his prices with his competitors. My point was not that his prices were unfair, but that he was not doing right by the customer. His business sold and installed defective equipment and was reaping the rewards of repairing that equipment. When I asked if we should approach the manufacturer, he told me I was free to do so, but that I was on my own and unlikely to get any satisfaction. Our opinion is that this was poor customer service. I assume, based on their high marks on Angie’s List and elsewhere, that Hodge does not regularly install defective equipment. Why not then share more equally in the cost when something like this happens? Suppose two more defective parts fail in the coming year. My repair costs could easily reach the cost of the initial installation, while Hodge would continue to enjoy the profits of servicing the faulty equipment that they sold and installed. Maybe this is unreasonable thinking on my part. Jeff Hodge clearly thinks so. You will need to decide for yourself.

We had Morris Jenkins come provide an original quote, and after price checking with many companies I called Hodge and spoke to the owner Jeff. He quoted me over the phone and beat everyone else HANDILY. The part was under warranty so the cost was just labor. They came out quickly to confirm the issue, dealt with the warranty company, and had a new part over-nighted in. The whole process took 2 days. It was replaced quickly and the technicians were very nice and professional, and best of all HONEST and fair. We will definitely call them again for any future needs.

It went very well, the person was on time, he took his time to check everything very carefully, he told me everything he was going to do before he perform. Gave me analysis how each of the unit look and how long they may last. I will probably use their services again in the Fall to have him check our furnaces.

Excellent job by the Hodge team. They took the necessary precautions to avoid damage to my home. They were efficient, coordinated the work elements, and completed the job very quickly. The issue was found quickly and the repair was made.... someone else had complained of this persons excessive pricing of a component and I agree that it was excessive when I found out what the issue was. There is making a profit and then, there is really making a profit.

and after finding several other local big name companies weren't available for days, I came across Hodge Heating and Cooling. They dispatched a technician almost immediately, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the technician, Todd, found a faulty startup capacitor. Minutes later, he had the unit running. They were busy, but able to come in the afternoon. The technician was able to make it earlier than expected and assessed the problem. Todd, the technician, found the refrigerant was fine but the compressor was not running. He replaced capacitor and it's running fine now. We were extremely pleased with the timing, service, cost, and professionalism. This A/C unit is the original and going on 21 years old. Don't know how long it will last, but will definitely contact Hodge Heating & Air for an estimate when it's time to replace it. Thank you Jeff for the quick response to our problem!
