When I first got the Local Movers flyer I thought it was a scam because I could not find them anywhere until I stumbled across their Angie's list profile. They got extremely good reviews especially on their prices (and since we're college students) we decided we would let them quote us. I still thought it was pretty expensive for the amount they had to move. So, I scheduled for them to arrive at our old place at 1:00 pm however the day before the move our leasing agent called and told us we could not enter the apartment until 3 pm. So I called Local Movers to tell them we would be delayed for about an hour (more than 24 hrs prior) the guy on the phone told me it was no problem at all. So at 2 pm I was at my old apartment and ready to go, we had to hand in keys at 6 pm so we had to get going. However, by 2:30 pm they still had not shown up so I tried to call and nobody answered. I left several voicemails and no one called me back. I thought they were not going to show up at all and it really worried me because we were not prepared for that situation. Then 3:00 pm rolls around and still no phone call or answer, letter , smoke signal or text had come in to inform of any delay. We had already decided that we would have to get a uhaul because we had to hand in the keys at 6!!!!!!!!! So anyways after calling and calling somebody decides to pick up and inform me that the movers will be late... HUH!!!!!! At this point it was 3:45... So then some other guy called me and told me they were 40 min away. I was so annoyed and frustrated because we had to go sign the lease and start moving things! While we were signing the lease they got to my old apartment and were annoyed that we weren't there. Btw this was at about 4:45 - 50 and we had no time. My husband signed everything in rapid speed and drove back and so did I. It was hectic and stressful after that and I had some serious doubts about these guys. They were young and tiny and did not look like they would be able to get my washer up the stairs. Surprisingly they got everything up but at this point it was way beyond 6 and we had to pay a penalty. Also my husband negotiated 15% off the quote. Which was pointless because you can only pay with cash or credit and they have a 3.25% up charge for credit. So there you have it a very frustrating and stressful move. This app will not let me type in the price but after everything it was 396.

It did not go well. Local Movers had given me a binding quote. That means, they will send the right number of personnel and the right size of truck with the correct resources to get the Job done. Matt P. Was the sales person who had quoted the job. He scheduled the moving crew to come in at 330 PM. i asked him could they do the move earlier and his response was they had another job scheduled in the morning. I asked him will he send enough number of personnel to get the job done before it is too late at night. His response was all work will be done before it gets dark and he said the day is long. So I assumed by 9 PM as thats when it gets dark.
The crew of 3 adult males showed up on time around 3 with a rented hertz truck. It was a rather small 16 ft long truck for a 3 bedroom fully furnished appointment. Most of the crew were "contract" part-time employees who told me they were very new to this job. They also said they have never moved a piano! That was a shock. The piano is worth few thousand dollars. The crew did not have steel toe boots or back or shoulder harnesses to carry piano or any other heavy items. They did not have a fully equipped tool box to dismantle the bed frames or the treadmill. they asked me if I had tools. They asked me if I had ziplock bags to store miscellaneous screws. I said it is all packed. They they decided to keep the screws in their pockets. It was very unprofessional. However, it made sense since they were contract employees who had not done much of moving before. One crew member told me he did not know the size of the job but the rental 16 ft long truck was very small. He said all other big company trucks were busy.
The crew scraped my piano on the steps as they moved it down. The edge of the piano cracked off. My 60 inch tv (not in the original packaging box) was wrapped by the crew in blankets. Its corner is cracked. my sony boombox which was in a box packed by me got cracked and the speakers were totally mangled. I have still to open few boxes to find out what lies ahead. Most of the chine that we had packed did not undergo any damage.
The three crew members were struggling to load up the piano in the truck up the ramp. I called Matt P with my concerns. I was very upset as the crew was under resourced for the size of the job and my piano I saw getting scraped all the way. Matt said he heard me and he will take care of the problem. He sent in another crew of 3 people with a larger truck. The other crew came in rather late, around 730 PM. By the time both trucks moved and unloaded the stuff, it was 1130 PM. it was not good to see the crew unloading the truck in dark rainy weather. Had they sent more people and the correct size truck in the first place, this move would not have gone on till close to midnight.
Steve was one of the crew members in the second batch. He was a life saver. he was highly skilled and professional. He managed the crew very well and got the job done.

We moved from Orlando to Atlanta in March for my husband's new job.  We rented a townhouse while searching for a new home.  I was dreading another move, but when it was time to move again, I contacted Local Movers for a quote.  The price seemed very reasonable given the size of the household we were moving. The price along with Angie's List's recommendations is why I chose them.
I was not disappointed!  Four young men arrived with a truck on time.  They began right away.  All were congenial, professional, fast, and careful with our belongings.  I made certain the boxes were clearing marked with the room they were to be placed. They got every box right.
We paid the price quoted by the company (no hidden charges).  Although we were under no obligation to do so, they did such a good job we tipped each $25.
I recommend Local Movers highly. They made a dreaded third move in three months pleasant.

I was a little disappointed because it cost so much. They brought 2 box trucks, but I still ended up having to make several trips after the move. They always left flyers saying they could do the job for less than $500, but it ended up being over $900. I really needed the help though, and they were very professional and courteous. They were on time, clean, and polite.

Overall, we were pleased with this mover.  I did experience a few complications in the early stages in getting an estimate.  It took longer with these guys to get back with me and provide an estimate than it did with several of the other companies I contacted.  However when they did get an estimate put together, it was a better price than what I received elsewhere by a few thousand dollars.  I believe this is mostly due to the fact that Local Movers rents Enterprise trucks instead of owning their own fleet.  In fact, it took 2 trucks for our move, which means we paid mileage on both for a 600 mile move.  Even with that factor included, we still paid less than other movers were charging.  They were a bit late getting to our home in Georgia the day of the move, which was a bit disappointing since we were eager to get things going.  However they checked in fairly regularly and I always felt that I could trust them throughout the entire process.
Some things to know, so you don't get caught off guard if you use Local Movers:  1) They rent their trucks (see above).  You aren't going to see flashy trucks emblazoned with their logo pull into your driveway.  We saw Enterprise trucks.  2)  Their movers are college guys that they basically pick up wherever they are moving from/to.  We had a different set of movers load our house than we had unload.  This seemed to work out fine, as all of the guys we worked with were strong and willing to work very hard.  3)  They want you to be happy with the move.  We had a few items damaged during the process and the owner was very willing to work with us on adjusting our price so we would be happy and would use them again in the future.  We appreciated this!  4)  They are YOUNG.  Everyone we encountered was under 30, most probably closer to 20.  This isn't a big deal to us, but if you're looking for some older, experienced company, this isn't the one for you.  With that said, what they lack in age they make up for in strength and ability to lift things that made my back hurt just thinking about.
Overall, this is a great little moving company to work with.  The things mentioned above are a bit quirky and not something I've encountered before but didn't seem to negatively influence the quality in any way.

From beginning to end, our experience with Andrew Lesniak and all of his men was top notch.  Andrew always kept me informed throughout the process, he was very professional and courteous at all times. Even though the move was very involved, Andrew made it stress free and easy for us.  The men that helped with the move were also very professional, courteous and careful with all of our possessions. Their attitudes were upbeat and positive at all times and we could not have been any happier with their services. We have made many moves throughout the years but have never encountered a move that went this smoothly and perfectly.  Considering that we were moving from 2 different households in Ohio and then onto Virginia, it was truly amazing to us that it went off without a hitch.  We received all of this outstanding service at a very reasonable rate as well.   I would recommend Andrew and his team wholeheartedly and I will definitely plan to use them in the future after having such an amazing experience with them!

On move in day, they moved the boxes to the parts of the apartment we asked.  They re-assembled anything that they had took apart like the beds and table. We asked them to take care of the beds as they were new and they did.  There was no mulch or dust on the mattresses like our previous move. It is understandable that they were late on unload.
We tipped the two man team $25 each.

Mike and KC are great guys, if I needed to hire them again for moving or if they came along in life for another job working with me - I'd shout Donald Trump style "you're hired!" I could go on and on! Recommend them without any hesitation, you may want to move just to hire them ;)

These guys were great!  They got us in quick (next day! and on a Sunday at that) and were friendly, punctual, and professional. They treated the furniture, mostly antiques, with care. Some of it was massive so not an easy job, especially to take it up stairs and around a corner. I wasn't even sure they could move my heavy library card chest now converted to a tool chest, but they did it with gusto. One chest got its "foot" partially broken in the process but they took care of it right away, paying for our repair.  I can't say enough good stuff about them.  Don't hesitate, just hire Local Movers!

Andrew and his assistant arrived with their truck on time. Andrew was very detailed, explained the process and showed his drivers license to verify the credentials. Once they started moving they were very careful in handling stuff and did a good job in loading all the furniture. After arriving at the house, since the driveway was fairly new, Andrew decided not to pull the truck on drive way which was very nice of him. They unloaded and placed all the furniture as per our request. Overall I am extremely happy with their service and would definitely recommend him.

Everything went very well.  Not only that, it was better than expected.  Andrew (owner) was VERY thorough and detailed with every component of the move:  here's the approach I will take, here are other details to consider, here are ways to save money, did you think about  this with your antiques... that kind of thing.  He takes his moving seriously and his team follows this lead.  Every team member I encountered aside from Andrew (one in Valdosta/Atlanta, two different in Roanoke) were professional, kind, and very concerned about our belongings.  He hires good people.  One of the things that impressed me the most was how they handled my personal artwork.  It has little to no value to the average person (and it looks it), but they are special to me and these guys handled even these pieces with the utmost respect and care without me asking them to do so.  They acted like they had painted them, personally, and wanted to take extra special care of them.  And they tackled our 4 flights of stairs with energy, smiles and with full concern of the walls and stairs.  Very good team.  This move also included several antiques and they were handled with the utmost care.  Lastly on the team, when I asked them to handle a certain chair with clean hands, they all washed their hands with no attitude whatsoever.  When I asked them to handle another chair with a covering on it, they did so gladly.  Seriously, they accommodated everything I asked for.  One could say I was being high maintenance, but Local Movers didn't seem to care.  Heck, they seemed more concerned about my stuff than I was.
One last point... something that was very nice... Andrew not only kept me in the loop of where my belongings were located at all times (which I didn't ask for but liked), he was punctual at every stop but one, and he called me on that one to say he would be a few minutes late.  Yes, everything went as smooth as I have portrayed.  So good, I used them again a few days later for transport to a local storage unit.  The price was average, but considering the service I got with the environment they worked within, it was a bargain in my opinion.

The crew on both ends (VA and GA) were professional, friendly, courteous good guys. The two drivers who were there on both ends we're great. We got to meet David (VA manager) and Andrew (owner) in the process, and they were honest, polite -- just good guys. Everything arrived safe and intact -- and really, these guys came in a good bit under 4 other quotes we had gotten. I will contact them again when we move again.
