After searching Angie's List for local siding and window contractors, I chose Jason Linker Exterior Remodeling based on the reviews and comments here. I cannot begin to tell you how horrible this experience has been. The project was to replace all siding and windows on my 2 story home, to include the gutters. We agreed upon a start date of 2 weeks in the future, which made a start date of 5/31/2011. He told me the entire job should take him 2 weeks to complete. The job also included installing OSB sheathing on the entire house, as the house had Thermo-Ply sheathing only.
It has been almost 3 weeks since he started on the project and my house sits in shambles. I will add a link for pictures so that you can see for yourself how unbelievably horrible it looks.
From the very first day, the crew of 2 who showed up were very young and did not have very much experience in carpentry or remodeling. On most days they were only here working for 3 hours. They installed the OSB with some sheets overlapped, others had large gaps between the sheets and many sheet edges were not even aligned with a wall stud. I pointed this all out to Jason each day but nothing has been corrected as of today.
All of the vinyl replacement windows were installed without the sill guard in place and most of the sill guards were thrown away in the trash, as if his crew did not know what they were used for. I had to point this fact out to them.
I have left repeated voice and text message for Jason, explaining my aggravation and displeasure with all facets of this project. He has only actually replied to a couple of texts. As I understand it, Jason has had some health issues recently which may be a contributing factor in this mess but there is no excuse for sending general laborers here where talented professionals are required. The crew was supposed to be here today but as usual, no one showed up. Today I left voice and text messages again but this time I asked him if he was abandoning the project altogether, as I had not heard from him. I also stated that if I have not heard anything by the end of the day that I would assume that he was not going to complete the project and that I would contact my attorney. As I am writing this report, a worker of his shows up with most of the vinyl siding and soffit material. I have left several messages with Jason and told him that I was contacting my attorney and planned to bring legal action against his company for lack of finishing this project and the mental anguish encountered the entire duration of this project. I still have not received a phone call response from Jason. I will update this report if anything changes.
Here is an update on July 6, 2011.
There has been no change for the better from Jason Linker. He does not return my texts or voice messages at all. My house is a shambles. Today, during a rain storm, I found water coming into some windows because Jason had taken off the gutter and the water was curling back into the sioffit and then coming in the windows. I sent a text to him to get it fixed asap but, as usual, no reply. I plan on meeting with an attorney tomorrow to discus options of throwing Jason and company off of this job.
Jason has actually only been at my house on 4 occasions in the 5+ weeks this have been going on.
Here is the final update on August 16th, 2011.
Jason's crew finished last week. I am not pleased at all with his performance during this entire project. It was a nightmare from start to finish. The issue during the first 4-6 weeks was that Jason did not have people here with the skills to handled even the most basic of tasks, such as removing the old vinyl and soffit and windows. The second issue was they often did not have the material on site that they needed at the time or did not have the proper tools. At one point when they were nailing up OSB to the side of the house, I lost power in a room...the room directly inside of where they were working. We found out that they had nailed into the electrical wires which were running through the walls and tripped the breaker. Well, we got that fixed and I told them that they were using nails that were way too long for the job...the nails could almost have gone all the way through the OSB and the 2x4 wall studs. And they were sending nails everywhere, not just where a wall stud was expected. They were shooting 16 penny nails to secure OSB!!! I hope to god that we do not have an electrical problem that causes problems in the future because of their errant and incorrect nailing.
Anyways, the job is finished and it looks really nice but the hassle of dealing with Jason and the anguish was not worth it if I paid 1/2 the price. Jason actually ordered the wrong number of replacement windows (2 short) and then thought that i needed to pay for the additional 2 windows. Naturally I reviewed our contract and verified that he ordered 2 windows less than the contract stated.
All that I can say or recommend is that if you have a large project, such as I did, that you should consider what occurred on my project before you hire Jason Linker Exterior Remodeling. A smaller project I would consider them...maybe. Jason did correct all of the water damage that was caused during the project and the house looks great but having known then, what I know now...I would not do it again.
This is an update from 10/14/2011. I had not paid too much attention to my gutters and downspouts since they were all replaced until my neighbor was over and happen to notice that the long gutter on the front of the house was not centered properly. It is off to one side by about 2 inches, which leaves the one edge of roof that trickles off water, missing the gutter. Then we noticed that the downspout right off the gutter was not connected. It was not inserted properly into the adjoining curved piece. I can't resolve the gutter centering issue and I am not calling Jason Linker to correct the problem, but I did get a ladder to try to correct the downspout problem myself.

Jason Linker and his crew did excellent work, and offered very good value for the money. He was very honest and forthright, and did all the work contracted for in a professional manner. My only complaint is it took him and his crew longer to start than what was promised, although some of this might have be due to some staffing issues; at times it was also difficult to reach him, although he ultimately always got back to me. If the dates of your work can slide a bit, I would recommend Jason Linker as his work quality, pricing, and integrity is exceptional.

Could NOT ask for a more prompt, professional or courteous worker! He caulked all seams between the boards (even those existing in that section -- 5 boards in the section) and painted the entire section (neither of which was discussed at the time of estimate) and the total charge was $300. He also came the very next morning to do the work promptly at 8am on the first day of his vacation! You simply cannot go wrong here!

He did what he said and stayed within the quoted price. He did a good job and I was very happy with him. I didn't get any other estimates.

Very fast response. I talked to him Monday evening, work completed by early Thursday morning, including matching siding and ordering it from out of town. They fixed it, left an extra piece with info on the back on type of siding in case of future need, cleaned up well, great experience. After having 4 other companies say they would come and not show or call, it was wonderful to have someone do what they said they would, when they said they would and for the price they initially quoted, especially for a small job.

Jason came to give me an estimate and it was much lower than many other estimates. I am currently having a lot of work done on my home and can't afford a lot. I was originally wanting to have the masonite siding repaired, but Jason explained the pluses of vinyl, and HIS price for vinyl wasn't much more than repairing the masonite would have been. He brought over samples to choose from, and told me when they could start. He also gave me references to call. His crew were polite, pleasant and professional, and hardworkers. Jason was there working right alongside them every day. They started when they said they would, and finished when they said they would. I was extremely pleased, the look totally exceeded my expectations. When we realized the the old wooden shutters were crumbling, Jason recommended some new shutters that they would install, and based on his assurance that I'd love them sight unseen, I went ahead. Wow! They are fantastic! The house doesn't even look like the same place anymore. Even my neighbor (who doesn't usually compliment ANYTHING) came over to tell them what a great looking job they had done. I highly recommend Jason Linker Exterior Remodeling to anyone looking for an honest, hardworking company, that does what they say they will for a terrific price. I am very happy to put the first report on Angie's list for them.
