The bid was very vague (a range was given, it was not itemized and was written on a piece of paper and not in a formal bid format.) On the day they were to prep. the yard we had asked them to till to a depth of six inches (which they did not do) nor did they make any effort to remove the stump ground debris we had asked to be removed (they actually used it to plant two trees). After a heavy rain we became aware that they had not graded the lawn properly and we had to redo the entire yard, including the tilling that was not done properly. The sod growers told us that since it was not a large order the sod would need to be delivered on a Saturday. The nursery informed us they don't lay sod on Saturday, so at that point we terminated our relationship with them. We rented a tiller ourselves and re-prepared the yard and laid the sod ourselves. We then hired someone else to finish hauling off debris.

They actually had forgotten their tools at our home and we delivered them back to the nursery along with the fertilizer, peat moss, and lime that they had not put down. We took pictures of all that was returned so that when the bill came in with items on it that we returned, we could prove that we had not used them.

We were very unhappy with the service and will not be using them in the future.

The sales lady that helped me with my selection, the quality of the plants, and the planting that was done was excellent. Their price was a little high, but I was happy with it for what I got.

The employees at the nursery were very friendly and helpful while browsing for trees and plants. I purchased a 3-4 year old maple tree (12-14 feet tall) to be delivered and planted. I paid for the tree immediately (instead of paying at the time of delivery which was an option). The problem I had was getting it delivered on time. I could never get a committed date for delivery. It took almost 4 weeks and several calls from myself to find out when they were going to deliver and plant the tree. Meanwhile, I had all utility lines staked out (the nursery's requirement), so I couldn't tend to the grass, etc so as not to disrupt the painted utility lines marked on the grass, etc. I think the people were great, the selection was great and the final tree (as long as it continues to live) is nice. My only problem was with getting a firm delivery date. Perhaps I should not have paid for it in advance and paid when delivered - I feel that this may have expedited delivery.

Mr Christy himself came out to provide me an estimate on landscaping a street side lawn and providing screening to the back of my proprty. He was great at providing ideas/suggestions to compliment what I wanted... he rec basic changes to the layout and plants that I described to ensure a cohesive look with the rest of the neighborhood and yard while still offering me unique designs. The workers came and did the install in less than a day for almost 20 trees/shrubs. A beautiful and quality job... all plants are stll living two years later, despite our record droughts and my harder than concrete clay soil! I have even called with care questions since and they spent time on the phone assessing the situation, gave easy to follow advice and offered to come back out if needed.

As part of an ongoing landscaping project, we worked again with Lowell at Christy's to get advice on the best stone to use for border edging. As when selecting plants, he spent the time we needed to select the right product, helping us account for color, ease of installation and other factors. We paid a price lower than the two other vendors we scouted. Christy's also held the stone for quite a time, until I was able to drive over with my car and trailer, break the pallet out by hand and take it back to my house. That kind of flexibility is very helpful.

In two visits, we worked with Lowell at Christy's to figure out what plants to use along one side of our foundation. He was a tremendous source of knowledge and advice. He gave us good guidance on what to plant, how to plant it, and how to care for it. Among other things, we wound up buying several mandamus and hydrangea. The mandamus were good quality, and are thriving months later. The hydrangea have been more problematic. Their stock was picked over, and the plants we got were not first quality. That said, they are guaranteed, and I believe we'd get no static over returning them should they not survive the winter. Christy's prices are also higher than lots of other places, often significantly so. If you can pay, you get great service and expertise along with the plants, but the premium is often steep.
