They busted our water pipe under the house while cleaning the ducts and told us they "found" a leak under our house and charged us to fix what they broke. We got ripped off!! Stuart Bourne Wake Forest, NC

BUYER BEWARE!!! We scheduled Carolina Duct and Crawl based on a coupon advertising air duct cleaning for $54.95. Both my husband and I separately tried to get estimates for our home in advance but were told that they can’t give an estimate until they see the exact specs for our HVAC system. When the service providers came to our home, they quoted us over $1,000 for the cleaning (WAY MORE THAN $54.99!!!!) plus $500 for mildicide spray and another $1,200 for UV system installation. We were in a bind because we were planning on moving into the house in two days, so we felt pressured to get the recommended services. They will try to upsell you, so do your research in advance!!! After the fact, the company that does routine maintenance on our HVAC system told us that they never recommend UV installation because of the damage it can do to the HVAC system. Also we found out that the sporicidin (mildicide used by Calorina Duct and Crawl) website [*** Link removed ***] says that “this product is not recommended for air duct applications other than cleaning mold off of hard non-porous surfaces such as registers and vents. Pour a small amount of Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution onto a cleaning cloth or use presaturated Sporicidin Disinfectant Towelettes to wipe away mold and other contamination.” In other words, this product isn’t recommended for use throughout all interior air passages. This is reiterated here: [*** Link removed ***] “The use of antimicrobial chemicals is an additional service that is not part of a typical air duct cleaning project” [*** Link removed ***] “The application of chemicals in an air conveyance system is acceptable only when the product is legally approved for the application for which it will be used. At this time, the EPA has not accepted any disinfectant, sanitizer or fungicidal products for use in the ductwork of HVAC systems.” We were never told this before Carolina Duct and Crawl fogged all of our interior air passages with sporicidin. To top it off, one of the ducts spewed black debris after the cleaning. We were incredibly dissatisfied with the services provided by Carolina Duct and Crawl.

I have 19 vents, I expected to pay more. After a quick investigation I was told I had mold and the price went to $1000+. After looking at the invoice I decided to patch the 5 access holes in the ductwork myself and save the $125 charge as well as not have the mold treatment for $650. Ended up paying $387 to have 19 vents, 2 returns, and 4 mains cleaned. The hose for their vac wasn't long enough to reach the 5th one. They tried to up sell but when I politely declined they were very courteous and polite. Overall I was very happy and there guys did a thorough job of cleaning and would definitely hire again. Our house is 40 years old and we live on a dirt road. My wife had been having headaches and since the cleaning she hasn't had one. Happy wife, happy life!

Very smoothly. I am a real estate agent and needed someone out at the property my buyer was purchasing ASAP. They came out and have me a quick and reasonable quote for the work. My client went ahead with the work and it was completed on time in two days. I highly recommend this company.

Owen and his team were very professional and fully explained scope of inspection and fully explained what they found.  They did a complete inspection including before and after photos. They were very thorough and very respectful. They also provided a Warranty of their work, inclusive of transfer to new owner in the future if within time guidelines. As a real estate professional, I am very selective of contractors and I will wholeheartedly sing the praises of Owen Presutti, President of Carolina Duct and Crawl.

It went horrible! They sent out Owen and a helper to clean my 10 vents and one return for there special of 69.00. Well after being here about an hour they tried to charge me 485 bucks. Well I noticed four or five of the vents were still very dirty along with the return which still had 2 inches of dust and trash in it. I went back and reviewed my home security cameras to find out they didn't touch those five vents nor the return. He didn't even step foot in the kitchen or laundry room. It was horrible! After contacted another company, I had to pay them to come out and really clean them. They took pictures and noted how bad Carolina duct and crawl did. After all this I contacted the company and they were very rude and kept saying Owen was the owner to talk to him. I finally get ahold of Owen and he still wanted to charge me and come back to my home. I sent him pictures of his work and told him I had them on camera and he tells me he fired his helper to please let him come back and fix it. I would never let these guys come do any work in my home again. It was terrible! You cannot trust them to do a good job, they just wanna rack up charges and do little work. I now see why they only have a couple reviews and after being in business only one year I'm sure they won't make it long ripping people off. If you want to see pictures or video footage before you consider hiring these guys just email me at [email protected], you will be shocked!
Response from Carolina Duct & Crawl
"We did make a mistake on this job which ultimately cost one of our employees there job and an unhappy customer. We take these kind of things very serious. We did offer to come back the same day and re-clean the entire job at no charge and treat there system for mold at no additional charge just for any inconvenience. The customer declined our offer. Our objective is to do every job to the highest professional standard as possible and to make sure every customer is happy. We do try to train every employee to do the job correctly, on rare occasions mistakes our made. We do everything possible to rectify those mistakes and make sure they don't happen again. All of our work is guaranteed and we stand by that....if there is anything we can do now or in the future for this customer to change their opinion of us we would be more than willing to do so."
