Affordable Dentures

After having periodontal surgery many years ago the inevitable happened (as warned by the periodontal surgeon) I started losing my upper teeth and finally got to the point that I just did not enjoy eating anymore. I could not afford a regular family dentist for the dentures so searched out options. Fortunately there is an Affordable Dentures within 10 miles of my home. At this point let me explain why I did not give the Greensboro Affordable Dentures all "A's". They do not take appointments and they are literally a "Denture Factory". They open at 6:30am but you'd better be their by 5:30 latest if you want in that day. They only take 35 new patients per day but will fit in customers that are going through the denture process (but they will tell you when and how), hence the "B" for "Availability". The office is not plush but is comfortable, hence the "B" for "Office Environment".
My first personal experience was I arrived at 5:15 (number 5 in line), office opened at 6:30, I was called to the back at 7:00 had a consultation and x-rays and was on my way by 7:30am. I elected not to get my denture work done that day as on my first visit I wanted to get to know them, the process and the cost. I was comfortable enough that I came back 2 weeks later to have the teeth pulled and temporary dentures fitted. On my second visit I again arrived at 5:15 and was number 6 in line. I was called to the back at 7:00. The staff consulted with me again, took molds of my teeth and told me to return at 12:45 for the tooth extraction and temporary denture fitting. I returned at 12:45, was in the chair at 12:50, teeth pulled by 1:30 and temporary denture fitted by 2:00. Stopped by the pharmacist for 2 prescriptions and went home to bed.
All in all I have to say that (except for why I was there) this was the most pleasant dental experience I have ever had. The staff were very professional, very polite and very very good at what they do. They are fast so be prepared for that but not so hurried that they do not treat you respectfully.
Honestly getting dentures is not a pleasant process, not the Doctor or staffs fault though. Getting dentures is dental surgery plain and simple. What can you expect? An early morning arrival, stand in line until 6:30, work through the registration process, get to the back and wham! Dentures. If you have never had dentures before you will get teeth pulled if necessary and then be fitted with a temporary denture. Once your mouth and gums heal you come back for the permanent denture. It's been about 3 weeks now and my gums have healed to the point that I'll be going back this week to have my temporary dentures adjusted and have a denture lining added (for better fit and comfort). Give it a couple more months and I'll get the permanent upper. Nothing but ice cream, milk shakes, yogurt and soup for a week but after that I started eating real food again. Now back to regular food and FINALLY had my first taste of peanuts in a year last night! Still healing but very very happy.
The staff and Doctors at Affordable Dentures are the best. Don't worry about it....
