We had budgeted and expected to pay around $8,000. Had three estimates to remove old roof and install new. We live in Clemmons, Jay Mize Construction is local, and his estimate was $1,200 less than one, and $150 more than the other. I was pleased with his personality, knowledge, and "bed-side manner" when he had arrived for the estimate. Friendly, but obviously professional and very clear and complete on what he would do. Very patient in answering questions. We liked the warranty on the shingles, as well as the company being fully insured, 4-Star CertainTeed Roofing Contractor, Permanent CertainTeed Quality Master, and Master Shingle Applicator since 2005. We were prepared for a two-day job (based on our neighbors experience with their roofing contractors). The job was delayed for two days due to rain. Our crew of 8-9 roofers showed up at 7:30, swarmed over the house, and had the job completed and totally cleaned-up by 2:30 or 3:00. This was not an easy job, as it was a hip roof on a very tall home. It included a secondary roof over a protruding sunroom. Job was supervised by Jay's father, Jim, who owned the company before Jay. He remained on-site except for a brief trip to empty the debris truck and return. Jim, like his son, was pleasant and patient in answering questions. The clean-up was very good, and there was no damage to the shrubbery around the house. The day after the job, Jay returned with one of his roofers to inspect and to see if we had any concerns. There had been no up-front payment, and we paid the total amount only after the job was complete and he determined that we were satisfied. Roof looks very nice--a big improvement. We are confident that we received great value for our dollar.
