ShadeTree Services impressed us from the initial walk through of the project until the completion. They were very conscientious, thorough and over communicated through out the project.
Pros - over communicated; met their commitments and appointments; final contract estimate was accurate; notified us when the sub contractors changed appointment times; handled unplanned expenses in a professional manner and shared the cost when appropriate; cleaned the job site on a regular basis; built rapport and trust during the entire process
Cons - some challenges scheduling the sub-contractors, we actually were two weeks late on a 12 week project due to their availability
In summary ShadeTree was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them to anyone that is planning to renovate their home or have and addition added.
"It was our privilege to work for the [removed members name]. We were disappointed that we didn't make our deadline. Several unexpected events deterred our efforts, most notably losing our plumber of several years due to health reasons, and a spike in the post holiday season market, leaving all our tradesmen with hectic schedules. Attics and basements are the toughest projects. Eight trades operating in a somewhat inaccessible location never progress exactly as planned. Other than that, the job went well. The [removed members name] were instrumental to the outcome and their effort is greatly appreciated."

"We truly appreciate your kind words. It's been a while since this work was completed, so for you to go to the trouble to remember us means a lot. Thank you for your patronage. Have a happy and safe holiday season."
The decking boards were to be kiln dried so that we would be able to stain them immediately. We had agreed to this because Mr. Wagner was given a great deal on the pricing of the kiln dried materials. As it turned out, the supplier had promised something that they were unable to deliver, and Mr. Wagner had to fork over the extra money to get kiln dried lumber at a higher cost. He made it clear from day one what had happened, and immediately made it clear that I was not going to be held responsible for the additional cost of the lumber. It should be noted that it was a significant difference and essentially eliminated the profit he would have made on this job. Despite several cost overruns on the job, Mr. Wagner never expected us to pay the additional costs unless it was something that we specifically requested as a change to the original proposal.
The deck was built within two days or so and looked great! The team then began inserting the new trim pieces needed to accommodate the new screens that would have to be put it. A new floor was also put down. A few days later, a sub-contracted team came in to paint the entire screened in porch prior to the screens going in. They completed in a day and the screens were measured for and created within a few days. The screens were put in and finally the carpet went down, completing the project overall.
Over the next week, we worked with Mr. Wagner to make small changes or fixes to the final product. Mr. Wagner made all of these alterations or fixes without complaint and with attention to detail. He was every bit as concerned with ensuring that we were nothing short of 100% happy with the final product as we were.
To sum up, we had a great experience with Mr. Wagner and his crew. They did an excellent job and the deck and screened in porch look absolutely fantastic. Given that we spend 9 months a year on that screened in porch, it needed to be great, and it is. We were so satisfied with his work that we are currently working to contract him for two other projects (an additional floating deck and closing in a shed area underneath the screened in porch). Mr. Wagner and his crew were professional, polite, and took great care to not damage the yard and to clean up after themselves at the end of each day.
I highly recommend Mr Wagner and his company to anyone that is interested in having work done. He goes the extra mile to ensure that you are happy with the end result and he is extremely easy to work with. Most important, he cares as much about the outcome of the project as you do, which goes a long way with me as I have worked with others in the past who just wanted to get paid. It was refreshing to not feel as though this was all about the money for Mr. Wagner.
He had to construct exterior siding to match the existing siding as it was no longer available. He had to handcraft chair rail molding for the area where the bookcases had been as the original was not available. We discovered plumbing within the interior wall we wanted removed but he came up with a wonderful solution which is even better than our original plan. He then strengthened the new opening as it was a structural support wall. He and his crew carefully removed all the existing crown and chair rail moldings for the interior remodel in order that it could be re-used and save us some money. He consulted us about every decision, listened to our ideas and concerns, answered every phone call or email promptly, always arrived on time and used the same crew throughout the job. We were not living in the house at the time so he and his men had a key and free access to the house. They cleaned up every day and not only removed their rubbish every day but also happily disposed of ours as well. Parke was happy to work with our electrican, plumber and heating engineer and also happy to let us do work wherever we could to save us money. We all read horror stories about remodelling, contactors disappearing without finishing the job, poor workmanship, escalating costs, different people turning up at the job every day etc. That will not happen with Shade Tree Service. Parke and his crew were a pleasure to have around our house and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
"Words fall short of expressing how much we appreciate this review. The Owner's elected to take on most of the contracting work themselves. They performed plenty of heavy labor too. This couple worked as hard as we did. They surely earned an A from us, for having strong backs and stronger resolve. Fortunately we have an opportunity to show them our gratitude on the next project."
Construction of the wood support was well done and attractive. Contractor selected a second glass supplier when he determined the first was not sufficiently capable of doing a quality job. Second contractor was excellent.
Painting and trim excellent.
"We consider ourselves very fortunate to serve the member as customers. They are the type of people you go out of your way to make happy, because it reciprocates on many levels. I would only trade their patronage for their friendship. Selfishly, I would keep both."
"Thank you members, for your patronage and kind words."
"Thank you so much Members. We totally enjoyed working for you. Not that it is important really but, the step risers are not prefab. We cut them in the field in an attempt to match existing dimensions, which in hindsight, I should have just started from scratch. Regardless, I beleive it's going to work perfectly with the landscaping you plan. If you remember, we removed a riser to bring the bottom to above grade. Please send us some photos after you get the landscaping done. The construction photos are now posted on the web at www.shadetreeservice.net."
