Excellent! I sent the quotes I received to a contractor friend, he said Scro’s had the best estimate, was fairly priced and was using quality materials. The other two estimates were higher and without the same detail/scope of work. When it came to the work, the crew were all courteous, respectful and honest. It was such a good experience; despite being the most costly home repair we ever made, I wish we could have Scro’s handle all our projects with such professionalism. I felt in good hands from start to finish!

Firstly - We asked Scro's for an estimate that we got within 24 hours of the request. It was for $12,000. Since we had 3 other estimates for $14,000-$15,000, we decided to go with them and asked them to "sign us up". Danny McLoughlin came to our house a week or so later with a new estimate for $15,000 and a contract. Their first estimate was only preliminary and done from satellite photos, then when we were interested in hiring them, they sent out a drone (something they did not inform us about) and had to update their estimate. And if we wanted our skylights replaced, another $1,000.
We hired them as they had very good reviews. I told Danny at the contract signing that I was planning to get all new gutters after the roof was installed. He instructed me to have them installed before the new roof, as they could wrap the drip edge into the gutter. He promised that they would protect my new gutters. That was a big mistake and we believe they have changed their policy on this since my roof was installed. We have a picture of how they protected my gutters. Needless to say, our gutters were scratched and gutter guards damaged. When we pointed this out to Danny on day 2 of installation, he told us that if they damaged any of our gutters, he would replace them. When roof was done and we inspected our gutters, there were many scratches on the new gutters and dents in the guards - he then tells us that his gutter guy will come and spray the scratches with paint (no mention of replacing them). We asked him at that time to have his gutter guy look at a leak on our front porch - water going behind the gutter and asked that they clean out our gutters of all the debris from the demo as they did not cover the gutters with tarps like they promised. He agreed and his gutter came to do the repairs. They sprayed the scratches, cleaned out the gutters and said they fixed the front leak. All the debris that was washed out of the gutters was left at the bottom of all the downspouts, some of the scratches remain, and the front still has water going behind the gutter, and now it seems worse.
We also had issues with all of the step flashing and skirt flashing at all 7 of our dormers. We had work done on our dormers about 2 months before the new roof was installed. All new siding, corner boards and flashing. Danny was made aware of this, but during demo a lot of the flashing was damaged, creased, etc. He sent one of his workers to fix that (his worker agreed with me that the flashing looked bad) Danny never came out to inspect the flashing. They also agreed to have their guy fix the leak in front and water test it. Before he left, he told me the leak was fixed. I inspected the new skirt flashing he installed and was satisfied. I asked them not to mess with the step flashing, as I didn't want them doing more damage to shingles and siding and be walking all over the new roof during the hot weather. During the next rain, the leak was still there and water now pours behind the gutter. At this point, Danny says that it is not the roof, that it is a problem with the gutter being too high - he said they could not install drip edge at this gutter because of that and we should have our gutter guy remove the gutter and fix the problem.
Since Danny refused to address the leak anymore, we had our gutter guy come and look at it. He told us that the gutter was not installed too high, but that someone had crammed a drip edge in there and caulked all along the gutter, and that the starter shingles don't hang over the gutter far enough.
That is where we are now - Danny refuses to come look or fix the leak - says that they did NOT install the drip edge there. No one else could have installed it. Our gutter guy says that the drip edge was causing the starter row of shingles to stick up - he tried to push them down and make it a little better, but he says that the roofer should come back and fix!
We are very frustrated and should not have to pay someone to fix something that Scro's roofing seems to have caused.
We feel that the only recourse we have is to share our experience with Scro's roofing and hope it helps others out there so history is not repeated.

Seven years ago in July 2009 after a very thorough study of on-line reviews of roofers in the Cary/Raleigh area I choose Scro's Roofing to replace our roof. It turned out to be a very good choice. The quality of their work was outstanding. They were careful to details (lots of skylights), did not rush, were eminently professional, easy to work with and friendly. We loved the roof. Unfortunately, the big hail storm of May 2, 2016 did extensive damage to our roof (and LeafGuard gutters as well. Our insurance company appraised the roof and said it all needed to be replaced. My first choice was again Scro's Roofing. I was not about to use one of the “storm chasers” that descended on our neighborhood like carpetbaggers from who knows where. Danny, the owner of Scro's looked up my record from seven years ago and was able to give me an estimate almost immediately from the information he already had on file. Their estimate was within a couple percent of what our insurance had already written a check which made the decision to go with Scro's again very easy. Once again we have been extremely pleased with the quality of their work. Sara in the office was most pleasant and helpful to work with particularly on scheduling. We needed to coordinate the roofing job with LeafGuard Gutters (old gutters down before the roofing job so drip edging can be installed properly and then new gutters up after the new roof). Chris and his roofing crew were great. They took their time, paid attention to details, found that the skylight the insurance company thought was damaged did not need to be replaced and saved a few bucks for us. They were friendly, courteous and even sang a little as they worked in the July heat. They did not rush. They even hand nail all of the shingles to avoid the over compression that pneumatic nailers operated very quickly can cause. It was also much quieter for us and our neighbors. They did a very thorough cleanup job after. They finished the job on Friday July 15 and that night the roof got an immediate test as the big storm with 5 inches of rain in spots hit Cary and Raleigh with lots of flooding. The roof performed perfectly and it looks great. We are most pleased! I recommend Scro's Roofing to anyone that asks. The company was great to work with. Danny is fun to talk with, has a passion for roofing and is very responsive. The crew worked incredibly hard and there didn't seem to be a lot of standing around. They used tarps to ensure the landscaping was protected, cleaned up 99% of the debris and generally did a nice job. We are very pleased with the results.

Paid attention to all details. When picking out colors - they gave us houses in the area to look at with the colors of roofing wee where considering. Made sure we had the right kind of shingles. Removed the old shingles and picked anything left in the yard even nails. Looks great.

My experience with Scro's has been great. Pricing and service descriptions were clear and fair. Based on my research, Scro's offers the most cost-to-value than any other roofer in the triangle. The products they use are top-of-the-line, and the default services and warranty coverage they provide is way beyond others (hand-nailing, architectural shingles, ice and water shield, drip edge, new vents, labor warranty, extended manufacturer's warranty, etc.). The icing on the cake is the quality of work and attention to detail, down to clean-up and post-install walk-through. I'm sure there are other quality roofers in this area, but I have a hard time believing there is anyone who can give you the quality and value you get from Scro's.

I returned from vacation I found a one inch hole in roof. Called Scro's Roofing on Tuesday and was told they would come the following week. Called me back Wednesday and said they would be there the following day. Thursday they called and said they could not come since it was raining, but would be there Friday. They arrived early for appointment and found 2 roof vent boots were destroyed, and 3 roof holes made by squirrels. Also found several missing shingles. Replaced vent boots, installed metal over holes and covered with shingles, replaced missing shingles and removed all debris. Job was completed earlier than first promised, in a professional manner, at a reasonable cost. I will use this company in the future to inspect for squirrel damage and roof condition.

Excellent customer service. Probably the best I've experienced in home repairs. They tried to repair a leak in my roof over 3 years ago. I called them back about 1.5 years later (within the 2 year warranty period) because the leak hadn't been fixed. They worked on it again. Several months later, I noticed that we continued to have a problem with the leak (over 3 years after the original repair). They came back out and fixed it and refunded the original cost of the repair ($175). It was outside the warranty period of 2 years, so they were under no obligation to do anything. However, their first priority is doing a good job and making sure the customer is happy so not only did the come out promptly (within 1 hour of my phone call) and fix the source of the leak without charge, but they also refunded my original check. This kind of integrity and attention to customer service is rare. If you have a roofing problem, you should call them. They informed us that our roof needs to be replaced as well (it's over 15 years old so that's not surprising). When we're ready to do that, we'll definitely call them.

The entire experience was PHENOMENAL. They were so easy to work with, ranging the folks in the office to those that were on top of our house. The administrative staff was highly organized, and always provided us with updates as to how things were moving along. If we had questions, they were quick to answer. Danny was great at explaining the ins and outs, and was able to bring everything down to a non-roofer's level.
The best part about Scro's is that they are looking out for you, the homeowner. We were originally planning to have several other portions of our roof replaced, and we had already accepted the contract. But, when Danny got to our home to walk around a bit, he let us know that both parts of the roof were in excellent shape and there was no need to replace them. This was obviously a fantastic surprise for us, as we were going to save a big chunk of money that we had already planned to spend. This speaks volumes to who Scro's is - they're honest and are not trying to price gouge you or play any funny tricks on you.

It was fine. I was not in town when they did it. My neighbor recommended them. Their price was reasonable. He was quick and efficient. Their local and I like using local people. He is easy to work with. I spoke with over the phone and he sent me pictures. I had no issues with the repairs and his price was good. He made time to come to the house.
