David at Wood Design was very innovative in coming up with creative ideas. For example, for the built-in entertainment center, he came up with a way to go behind the entertainment center to be able to wire the components from the back and also house my Bose, surround sound subwoofer in the same “hidden” area. They were always responsive and did what they said they would do. It is clear that they take a great deal of pride in their work and we have had many compliments on the great job they did (in fact a friend of ours used them for even more extensive work on their house and was very happy as well). I believe they were very reasonably priced for the work they did (especially given the quality).

These woodworkers do AAA quality workmanship. Books in storage for many years are now lining the walls of this bookcase. We would not hesitate to hire them again.

David helped us design our custom cabinets, custom mantle, and custom mantle surround. He helped us with the overall dimensions and layout of each piece and was invaluable in telling us what would work, what would look good, and what would look bad or be an ill-functioning piece. He took what our designer sketched out and brought back detailed plans for the cabinets and mantle. He then helped us select the wood for each item. He built the cabinets from scratch, and was very careful to use all available space but still allow all the drawers and cabinets to function well. He created these fabulous toe kick drawers for us that look sleek but efficiently use space. He installed a Magic Corner that uses our hidden cabinet very well. His drawers and doors are all perfectly aligned and installed so that they function well. He has been happy to make little adjustments along the way so that things continue to function well. He put beautiful Makore veneers on our cabinets and cherry veneers on the inside so that it all blends well. The cabinets are simply stunning. He carefully lined up the wood grain so the it flows across the cabinets. His attention to detail and the aesthetics of his work is incredible. He helped us design a separate stand-alone cabinet to hold wine glasses. The wood veneer matches the kitchen cabinets and he installed these modern long glass doors for the top part of the cabinet. He improved on our ideas and created a striking cabinet. David also designed and built our mantle. It is solidly constructed and is made with beautiful Wenge wood. He built the mantle back into the wall and gave it a front that lifts up so that we have hidden storage. He designed and installed the wood surround around our mantle. It is composed of wood panels made from Waterfall Bubinga veneer that are placed over tile we had installed as a base. David carefully installed the mantle and the surround so that the lines are perfectly straight and the wood is simply gorgeous. He took a bold idea from our designer and made it work. David has also designed and quoted a piece of furniture that will be a combination cabinet, seating, and counter in our kitchen. It is a beautiful design. David did a really good job with it. We do not have the budget for that piece right now but it would surely be a wonderful piece. Everything David does he does with an eye toward functionality as well as aesthetics. He is punctual, responsible, responsive, respectful, and professional in every way. He carefully cleans up after himself. I trusted him to be alone in my house, both in terms on not taking anything but also in terms of not damaging our house or furnishings. There are very few contractors I can say that about. David often brings along his wife, Kristy, to work with him. She is equally pleasant and professional. David is a rare, talented breed of contractor. If you hire him you will be very pleased with the results. He is practically the only contractor we had who did not have to re-do his work. David does it right the first time.
