We just went in and told the salesman what we wanted and he just wrote up the order. They had to order the XC90 and they had to order it from Sweden. When we placed the order, it was back in May of that year, but I came in in September, but they didn't try to force anything on us. They showed us the difference in the XC90 and the XC60 and the sizes and all. We wanted the 90, so we didn't have any problem.

They did a very good job. I called and made an appointment, went out and took a book. I sat about an hour to about two hours, I guess. They fixed everything fine. I'm definitely going to use them again. The waiting room is very nice. It has chairs and couches, a TV, a coffee machine, a drink machine and a water machine, it's got everything. It's very nice. I don't mind going out there and taking a book, and sitting for an hour or two because they take real good care of you. I know just about most of the people that work out there, so that makes it a lot easier. I have built a relationship with them.

The vehicle is a SAAB vehicle. Which I had purchased from them 8 years ago. They would have done repairs on it and of course they don't make SAAB anymore. They kept saying they couldn't find the problem. And they said "Oh we think there is something wrong with your stereo speaker, or stereo something a boot amp or amp that's in the truck area and it is malfunctioning and draining your battery and it needs to be replaced." And that was $1300. That didn't make sense to me so I said I need to get a second opinion on this. I said are you sure it's not just the battery, and they said no it's not the battery. I went to pick up the car and they said they were still looking at it. They knew I was leaving without buying anything, they said hold on I am looking at something, oh you know what you do need a battery. And it was $200 and that is a lot for a battery. I said find just put the battery in it. They said the amp is going to keep draining your battery and I said that's ok I just need to take it somewhere. I took it somewhere else and the amp was out of the car. I had the amp and asked them to check the amp, because they pulled the amp that they said was the problem. I asked them to check the amp to see if it was an issue. They had to send it away for diagnostics, came back three days later and said nothing was wrong with the amp. They put it back in and the car was fine. All it really needed was a new battery. But they were trying to get me to spend $1300 on an amp that I didn't need. I won't take the car back anymore. My interactions with them are fine. You own cars, you know what it's like. If you're not a mechanic you have to trust what they say. But sometimes you say nah that doesn't make sense to me. We all just want our cars to work. I was at the point where I don't really need a radio. I am not going to spend $1300 on an 8 year old car even though the body is in perfect condition and it only has 40,000 miles on it. I would not take my car back there. I called them back after I got the amp back and it was fine and he said well it can't be fine, it's not fine. They don't work on these cars. And I said no but they're car stereo professionals, they know car stereos. He was saying no, it's not that it's wrong. Well you're not the expert in this issue, they are. I did call them back to let them know. I think more so to let them know that I know that they were trying to rip me off. I didn't say that but I hope that is the message that they got.

It took more than one day. The quality was OK, but it's always been delayed both times. My husband drives the Volvo, so he was the one to take it in. The cost was free. We used them one more time in the winter. They need to be on time. They provided a shuttle for us and gave us a loner car.

It was still under warranty, so it didn't cost anything. The work that they did was really good, but they aren't good at being on time. We delivered the car in the morning, we had an appointment, at the end of the day when we went to pick up the car, it still wasn't ready after seven or eight hours. It wasn't anything major.

IT WAS A DISASTER! I used Charlotte Volvo to service 3 of my 6 Volvo's since they were the closest dealership. The parts manager gave me the part number and price for a part I needed for my headlight of $350. I googled the part number and found Stadel Volvo in Pennsylvania had it for $230 so i ordered it from them. It was shipped to Charlotte Volvo directly and the car was dropped off before I went on vacation. When I returned i was told it was the wrong part and was charged a third diagnostic fee for the same battery issue. I went and spoke to the parts manager who began yelling and cursing at me in front of other customers in the customer lounge and the service manager, Rick Pinto, refused to do anything about it. After repeatedly calling the general manager, she has never responded. They have no clue what they are doing and are aggressive and nasty when they know they are wrong. I wouldn't let them so much as look at any of my cars let alone touch one again. STAY AWAY!
Response from VOLVO OF CHARLOTTE
"Our records indicate that (member name removed) has brought one Volvo to us, not three. Our parts department never gives our part numbers, in case of a mistake. (Member name removed) took it upon himself to order a part, which was the incorrect one. Stadler Volvo would not take the part back when (member name removed) tried to return it. We did not over-charge (member name removed;) his vehicle had multiple issues requiring diagnosis. Our website and facebook page display our Customer Service award from Volvo. Most of our customers are highly satisfied."

Most of the service was complimentary under the terms of the car I purchased. Asked for a couple of extras, including inspection and tire rotation. They have some nice features, including complimentary valet service for those who purchase cars from them. They will come to your house, pick up your car, and leave you a loaner. At the end of the day they return your car and pick up the loaner.

Great, they checked the cause for the light and then called before they made the repair. We determined that the re-paid was not needed (knock sensor in the engine block). I appreciate that they would call before initiating any repairs. My car has over 100k miles on it and it is over 10-years old, some repairs are more costly than the value of the car. They continue to treat me like a preferred customer (free loaner car) eventhought I have not purchased an auto from them in over 8-years.

I took my vehicle to them until I sold it. They were pretty expensive, but they always provided me with quality work. They always seemed to be very competent with their work. When I started taking my vehicle to them I didn't need to take it too the shop nearly as often. It was easy to make an appointment and they always recognized me when I would go in. The shop was very nice. The entrance was very well done and they had plenty of parking. They seemed to care a lot about their work and their shop.

Over the past 6 years, the quality of Volvo on Independence's service department has greatly declined. My car was under warranty, and I did appreciate their willingness for warranty customers who also purchased at this dealership to give me a loaner car while my car was in for work. However, this became a service that they offered more and more begrudgingly as my car aged (despite buying very expensive extended warranty.) The scheduled maintainence was far over priced. They did not point out problems with the car that other mechanics told me would have been obvious when completing said scheduled maintainence (ex. leak in radiator coil). My thought was that they were hoping that this female owner would not notice the problem until after warranty had expired. Volvo had a recall on a fuel pump leak problem and, instead of them checking for this known problem during a scheduled maintainence visit, I had to bring car in after smelling strong gas fumes. Customer service is on a very superficial level and dropped when they were not having phone surveys done. I like Volvos, but when I buy my next will do avoid this dealership.

I took my 2005 Volvo V70 wagon with 47,586 miles to Volvo Charlotte for scheduled maintenance. All prior maintenance/repairs performed by Volvo dealer technicians. Drove car home and left in garage during Thanksgiving holiday. On way home from dropping off relatives at airport on 11/29/2008, car burst into flames engulfing engine compartment and destroying car. Wife and 2 small children able to escape burning car unharmed (luckily). Fire Dept called immediately after escaping vehicle and responded in under 3min. Separate investigators from Volvo and Allstate unable to determine exact source of fire due to extent of damage. Allstate investigator indicated most likely ignition source was power steering fluid leaking from either 1) overfilled reservoir or 2) reservoir cap insufficiently tightened. Notified Volvo Charlotte of incident next business day after speaking with insurance representatives (12/02/2008). Matter was immediately referred to Volvo Int'l by service manager. We tried to go to Volvo of Charlotte to find a replacement vehicle, but the salesman there seemed uninterested in helping to locate replacement vehicle. Attempted to upsell us to used SUV despite requests to find similar year and model for similar price. Request to speak with sales manager went unanswered. Sales manager never returned call. Replaced car with near identical model (used-2007 V70 with near identical options) from University Volvo after exhaustive, independent search. Finally notified >45days after incident by Volvo Int'l that they believed manufacturer was not at fault. Next spoke to service manager at Volvo Charlotte who said based on results of investigation, they believed fire was not result of service performed (contrary to what the independent investigator from the insurance company found).Throughout this entire ordeal, Volvo of Charlotte has been rude and abrupt, even when we tried to be nice. Horrible, horrible service (and completely overpriced!!)

We were handled very professionally. They were not typical car salesmen there. I would go there again in the future and would recommend them to others.

We are extremely disappointed. They are very nice people but seem unable to diagnose or repair my car. Even with an extended warranty, this is becoming very expensive.
