University Flooring did a thorough and thoughtful job, delivering high quality for the price! Abe was consultative, helping us pick the best carpet and LVP options for our home.

Abe and the workers did an outstanding job. They cleaned up and put furniture back without any incidents. I am recommending University Flooring to all. The carpet exceeded my expectations. Than you again for an outstanding job.

It was an excellent service and I could not as for better. They were professional and prompt. They cleaned up after themselves. I am highly pleased with the service. I would recommend them to anyone. The prices were amazing and the workers were extraordinary.

Abe met with me to select carpet and inspect the site, and we agreed upon a price and date for the work. I told him I hoped to get the job finished in one day, and he said it would be tight but he thought his crew could do it, and they did. Everything looks beautiful, no missed areas or loose ends. Both on price and quality of the work they did an excellent job.

Very well. Not too happy with color of shoe molding and had to ensure cut ends were stained but installer was very professional and efficient. Overall we are very happy with the end results.

Very professional. Did all the work in one day. Gave me an excellent price - half of what Lowes was going to charge. Cleaned up before leaving. Nice carpet and floors. Looks great and is very comfortable too.

They actually did work in my house twice. They put carpet and hardwood flooring in the first time and we had them come back and carpet in some additional rooms. They came on time, they completed it when they were supposed to, they cleaned up, hauled away the old stuff and did everything you wanted them to.

They come out to the house and show you samples, you pick out the carpet, they order it and then come back. It was a one day service. They moved furniture and put it back.

Abe and his team were a dream to work with. Abe got us the carpet we needed at a fair price. We were rushed as our house was already on the market, so he was able to schedule his team to come out within 3 days to remove the old carpet and install the new. They were here 13 hours on a Sunday and completed the job. I've never seen harder working individuals. They were very polite and went to great lengths to make sure we were happy with the job. 1 week after the install, we are under contract. Thanks Abe.

I worked with Smallwood for my purchase. I came to his store after visiting two other carpet companies. I told him exactly what I was looking for and how much I wanted to pay. He did not haggle me or tell me he couldn't give me what I wanted, like the people at local competitors did. He agreed to the pricing and services that beat all of his competitors, with no problem. In addition to removing and disposing of the old, soiled carpet, pad, and tack strip from the rooms in which he was to install carpeting, he agreed to remove the carpet, padding, and tack strip from rooms in which he was not going to be installing carpet (we are getting wood installed by someone else), at no additional charge.

While we were painting the house, we realized all of the flooring had cat urine damage from the previous owners and we needed to apply Kilz oil-based primer after removing the carpet, padding, and tack strip, but before installing the new carpet. As the removal and install is usually done at the same time, this posed a huge problem for us. Smallwood went out of his way to have a man come remove everything on Wednesday and install the carpet on Thursday. This gave us time to seal the floors and remove the odors.

The installation went pretty smoothly and the job was done within 7 hours (installing tack strip, padding, and carpet in our huge house), which was hours sooner than they expected. They had four men working to get it done quickly. All of this took place the day after a huge snow storm, which didn't cause this company to skip a beat! The installers were also very pleasant and courteous. The floors look and feel AMAZING! I absolutely love my new carpet and have already had several compliments from friends. The only issue I noted was that the installers scraped up my freshly painted wall trim throughout the 2nd floor which caused the paint to peel off pretty badly, but realistically, it is hard to maneuver large pieces of carpet around hallways so I am not surprised and do not blame them for the damage.

I am extremely happy with the professionalism and customer service I received from Smallwood and his installers. You can tell he truly cares about his customers and wants people to be happy. I would highly recommend using University Flooring for any carpet purchase!

The price was good and the work was installed on  time even with the short time frame that they had to work.  On the good side: we gave them short notice and they got the job done.  And they gave us a scheduel and completed on schedule.  And the price was very competitive.  And the work qualty was good.  And they moved all of the furniture off the floor to do the installation and moved (most of) it back into place.  On the bad side:  they used a rubber mallet to pound the planks into position and when asked to clean up the rubber marks, they stated that the marks would come up when it was swept the first time, they didn't, we had to get on our hands and knees to scrub all the marks off.  And the end pieces of the quarter round on the base boards were not stained so there is raw wood showing on every end piece.  And they didnt pick up left small pieces of wood and scrap in the yard from cutting.  And they didnt want to move our piano back into place.  We had to request it specifically.  And  they called one week after the final payment to tell me that my check bounced, it didnt. they didnt know the bank or check number, just that mine had bounced becasue the amount matched the check I wrote, they had no clue about whose bounced (mine did not).  And they did not show up for the first sales call / scheduled appointment - no show and no call.  We almost didnt use them except we knew people that had and were satisfied.

TBD on the review...Since having the carpet installed, I've experienced extremely painful, burning red rashes around my eyes.  For the past 5 weeks, University Flooring has been very nice, but not very helpful in offering any kind of help, or resolution.  I'm now on prescription Prednisone to deal with the chronic inflammation, that started the very day of the carpet installation.

Be wary....

Will update this review post-resolution.

I first purchased flooring from University Flooring on March 3, and it was for 3 different rooms.  The salesman was very nice, and the first time that they came to work on the floors, things went very well.  But, it turned out that I had measured roughly 1 sq ft too short for the kitchen.  Instead of bringing any extra, or doing the closet last, they left a torn up edge between the kitchen and dining room.  I wasn't upset about this at the time, because I had measured wrong, but it wasn't until today, May 8, that they finally finished it.  During that time, I made numerous calls to them about getting the floor finished.  I e-mailed, no response.  I called, and they said that the floor I needed was on back order.  About a month in, they finally said that they could come and finish the floor.  But when they arrived, they had ordered the wrong color.  Then, they finally said they would finish it today, and that they would be here "first thing" in the morning.  When the initial installation took place, they arrived at 9 AM.  So, I waited this morning until about 10:30, and then called the store.  The man I spoke to said he didn't know when they would be here, that he would have to check.  He called back to inform me that they would be at my house between 12 and 1 PM.  So, I guess if I wouldn't have called, I would have just been waiting at home for half the day.  I arrived home from running errands at 12:02 to find a man pacing in my driveway.  He installed the floor in a matter of minutes, and then told me I owed him $40, even after waiting 2 months for the job to be finished, and even after all the inconvenience.  I asked if he could make sure that was right, and he called his boss and handed me his phone.  His boss (the guy who told me earlier, with no apology, that they would be at my house between 12-1), said very frankly that this was actually a good deal, because he was splitting the $80 cost with us 50/50.  I guess if this sounds like good service, and a good deal, and you don't mind having your home be a mess for 2 months, then this provider would be great for you!

Perfect, Abe and his team run an honest business and want their customers to be happy with their purchase. The service was fast, customized to our needs, and professional. We shopped around, started with the brick and mortars, UCF's price was honest, the materials needed were significantly reduced. In comparison, the brick and mortar had us paying 5k + for the same job, same padding, similar carpet (brands are all different but more or less the same with carpet grades), they also had us removing the old carpet, disposing it, and moving all the furniture. UCF included all that in their price. Post sales are very good too, they are in it for the long haul. We will be working with University City Flooring on our next project.

They were very good.  We don't have any complaints at all.  We got 3 quotes and they were the best price.  They were very easy to work with.  The owner actually came out the day it started and made sure everything was going okay.  We had some family issues come up and had to change our schedule around a bit and they were real accommodating.  I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Because of me, this project dragged on for months, but Abe never complained, ow was anything but helpful and supportive.  The installers were on time, worked hard and got the job done perfectly in the time they had predicted.  They patiently worked around me, and even helped some as I was repairing some squeaky stairs and hallway as they worked.  They were friendly and very professional.

The combination of mat and carpet are beautiful, soft to the touch, and very comfortable.  I could only be more pleased if it were free!

There aren't enough words to describe the great service we received from sales, installation, clean-up, etc.  We dealt with Abe from start to finish.  His price was sooooooo reasonable and he has the customer's "pocketbook" as his #1 priority.  No inflating of square footage needed.  We chose a frieze that absolutely shows no seams.   I had our vacuum cleaner ready and didn't need it!  The installers vacuumed everything, including all the residue from tearing up the old carpeting and pad.  They even took the old carpet and pad away.  The installers worked so efficiently it was done in no time. They put everything back in place in each room.  A very pleasant experience, to say the least.

One hint --- try to get all the knick-knacks out of the way before installation and just leave the big pieces, i.e., sofas, beds, dressers, etc.  Your installation will be done much quicker.  They have great "slider" pads to put under the large pieces of furniture.

I found this company from reviews on Angie's list and looked on their website.   Their store is just a little space in a strip of little stores along N. Tryon st.  It is a little difficult to get in and out of due to road construction.  ( They definitely don't have much overhead in the showroom department).
Despite my first impression, I found everyone I dealt with to be very professional and helpful.  Loy, who was the salesperson I worked with gave me lots of options and good information.  He came by and measured, brought samples,  and gave me detailed estimates for several carpets.  He was very friendly and responsive.  He is a builder himself and was very knowledgeable.  I was able to keep some samples for a few days to help me make up my mind with no problem.  Their initial prices beat the other two places I contacted and when one place offered to match their price and add an upgraded pad, they threw that in as well.

When I had to move the installation back a day due to some family issues, they were cooperative and gracious.  On the day of installation, they arrived a few minutes early.  Abe, the owner, came with the installers, talked with us about the carpet and looked things over.  He had me look at the carpet and pad with the labels before starting.  He stayed on site for about an hour to make sure things were running smoothly.

I was able to get 12 months free financing with this purchase and I had some questions about how that would work.  Abe answered my questions and gave me copies of all the paperwork .  He told me if I had any problems with the financing company, to call him and he would take care of it.

The carpet installers worked very hard and did a GREAT job.  You can hardly see a seam anywhere.  They cleaned up after themselves and took good care of our home. They put in well over 10 hours of work and barely took a break.

I would highly recommend this company .
