Tri-Square Construction

They were very easy to work with and helped out on things that came up. I thought they were very good from my standpoint.

The project manager assigned to us was wonderful. He was very responsive, always prompt and had a great eye for detail. They also did a great job securing the house and separating off the areas under construction to contain the dust and minimize disruption. With 2 small children in the house this was really important to us. The end result is absolutely stunning!

I had everything picked out (floors, cabinets, doors, and counters) before job started and used and architect for the design.

Tri Square was great to work with throughout the process and I'm very pleased with the result. I just love my newly renovated home! After my architect and I worked through a few rounds of plans, I requested quotes from 5 firms: all came highly recommended. Because of the amount of renovation work to existing space I expected that some firms would be more interested in the job than others - which was correct. I received three quotes and Tri Square was the most competitive in their pricing overall. In addition, the bid was very comprehensive and held up well under my detailed review and that of a few others. (I asked a few construction friends/co workers to review and provide comments, which was quite helpful and reassuring during my decision process.) I worked with Dave Young through the initial process and he was knowledgeable and very reasonable. He was also very patient with my many questions and changes - from this I got the impression that Tri Square would be good to work with on this large and complex project! I called three references and all had good things to say. They also all encouraged me to ask questions re: the project manager that would be assigned: this makes all the difference in any major renovation! Two names were recommended to me and I made it a condition of the contract that that one of these men be assigned. I'm sure in better economic times I would not have been able to do this, but it's a great advantage of doing work now! I'm really glad I did this - I credit the success of this renovation to my project manager, who could not have been better to work with! After discussing a specific plan with both Dave and my project manager, Ron, I decided my family would remain living in the house throughout the six month construction project. Tri Square did a great job of working around us, they were very considerate. Once we signed the contract, Tri Square began work very quickly, obtaining permits, digging foundation, framing, roofing, etc. With all the twists and turns to this project, Ron (the project manager) kept on schedule and within budget throughout and never failed to keep me informed about upcoming work, raised all issues appropriately and was really patient with all my questions. He and the entire crew were very considerate of the fact that we were living in the house, and even planned the most disruptive work while we were away on vacation! Since moving back into the newly renovated space, we've had some punchlist items and I've called Ron multiple times to address various issues. Most were either reasonably expected for a project this size, or a result of changes I've requested. As they have been throughout the project, Ron and his team have been quick to respond and have made sure that work is done to my satisfaction. This six month construction project could have been difficult on my family, especially since we lived in the house throughout, but its really been a great experience. I'd recommend Tri Square to anyone without reservation (and have, several times already!)

We received another bid on this project and Tri-Square (TS) was cheaper. David Young at TS bid on the job at the last moment as some of the other companies we had lined up fell through. They did an excellent job of keeping the project moving. The project took about 4.5 months from start to finish. They went out of their way to minimize the impact on the existing house as we did not move out. They were also very understanding when we had some major issues with the bank and funding. David made a lot of suggestions and recommendations of changes to our plans based on his experience. We passed almost all of our inspections on the first round and had very little problems or issues. The whole company is very professional and really care about their customers.

Tri-Square created a lovely master bathroom for us, but it was a fight from the first day our on-site supervisor arrived. We selected the company on the basis of David Young's experience and reputation. However, the day that we signed the contract was the last day he set foot on our job site. We never received the promised work schedule, so I cannot comment on whether or not they finished on time. We were given no warning of deadlines for selection of fixtures, etc. I had to leave work without warning on more than one occasion to take care of those issues. I also had to leave work several times to let subs into our home because the on-site supervisor had ''lost'' our key. The on-site supervisor was very inexperienced and we later found out he had a criminal record. Most of the subs were solid, but we have had repeated problems with some of the work. We had to fight to get it done right. Finally, I had to repeatedly notify them of warranty issues that recurred.
