Ceramic Tile Service
$4,000
The first issue came up the first weekend the tile work began.  All the tile work was supposed to be complete in that weekend so that the next part of the construction work could begin early the next week.  The contractor barely got 1/4 of the work done that weekend.  It took another week or more to even get enough tile work done to allow other contractors to come in and another couple weeks for all the tile work to get completed.

During those weeks where tile work was being done the tile contractor had to redo several things a few times as he could not do the work correctly.  And even after all this the overall workmanship was not that good.  The owner of the company did a lot of the work himself and hired workers for some things.  You can tell the difference in workmanship between where the owner did the work and where he hired workers.  The hired workers did most of the flooring outside of the master bathroom and this work was done pretty well.  The owner did the work in the master bathroom and the back splash in the kitchen.  The workmanship in the master bathroom was not that good.  It is in this room where he had to correct things several times just to get the final product where it is today.  There are still issues with the shower floor tiles not having a uniform grout line throughout, chips in tile and tiles not be level.  The end project does not look bad but if you pay close attention all these details are noticeable.  And considering the price we paid the tile contractor was for work only (we paid directly for the tile and other supplies needed to install) I feel we were overcharged for the quality of work.  Than you take into account how much delay this contractor caused to the overall project I feel we overpaid even more.

Other issues were the contractor did not use the grout colored silicone around all the transitions between tile and outside door thresholds.  He did not clean up very well as there was silicone in many places that had to be removed.  Some of this was on our new cabinets in the master bathroom.  Everything was able to be cleaned up but in my opinion there was way too much clean up needed.

A few weeks after we moved back into the house we found out that the grout had not been sealed.  We now have to move all of our stuff out of the way so that the grout can be sealed.  We will than not be able to use portions of our home until the sealant on the grout has dried.
