The Whole Blooming Landscape

Wish I had checked the reviews here and not just on Houzz. The owner and associate came out several times and promised plans. Contacted this company in May/June and it was too hot to begin so I agreed to wait until September. Emails sent back and forth regarding plans and start date from September, October and finally plans emailed in November. I was forced to contact another company as the window for seeding was closing. Paid half of the quote and have never heard from them since. Guess those plans and their site visits were what I got for the money. Honestly do not think this company has the staff to take on projects and do not recommend hiring unless you have no immediate need for services.

Jill came for a consult and seemed very knowledgeable. Had several great ideas. Her crew came to do fall cleaning and pruning and it took her a long time to bill me. We agreed that she was going to come in the spring for a spring cleaning and when I tried to arrange it, I got no response - none. I lost over a month waiting for a response and now my garden is overgrown and I missed the window to prune. I tried leaving voicemails, e-mails and I received no response.

Took more than 3 months to get the landscape design after being promised multiple times that it would be ready "next week" (when I could actually make contact).  Owner would not respond to phone calls or emails in a timely manner, if at all.  They were supposed to do the installation but after a few more weeks of waiting, I hired someone else.  Never did hear from them again.

I did a really good one a couple of years ago on them. I’ve used them since then. We do a monthly rate and it’s done individually by what we require. We have a contract with them so they do the service weekly and for landscaping, they do it every other week. They come out each season and assess everything. They did our drainage for us and they are going to tweak our irrigation for us. The staffs are attentive. They clean up beautifully. They are very cautious in what they are doing. They are just very on the job. They really care. They’ve done really well to make it look good. I get what I paid for and we demand a lot.

We have received monthly landscape services from Whole Blooming for 2 years. Their work is very thorough and professional. When adding services (new plantings, etc.), there can be a need for repetitive contact to stay updated on estimated scheduling/completion dates. But, overall, great experience.

Jill has been great throughout my yard renovations. She suggested a plan based on my restrictions, implemented the plan and my yard looks great. She suggests new plants for different purposes and always offers care tips for existing plants. My yard looks wonderful at night with the LED landscape lighting she installed and several neighbors have commented on how nice the yard looks (compared to 4 years ago when there was nothing!). Jill has great design ideas and worked with my vision to come up with a winning plan. I highly recommend her!

Jill was wonderful. She took time to explain the garden that came with our new home and to plan out the care it needed. Her staff did good work for a reasonable fee.

Jill was amazing to work with. I had gotten several quotes from landscaping companies on Angie's List but Jill was the only company that took the time to listen to what I wanted. Her designer was great to work with and has a good sense of space, plants and hardscapes. I met with her twice to figure out the overall design and after finalizing the quote, the work began. Jill's crew was very professional and cleaned up each day as if they had not been there. The crew that removed and replaced the steps did amazing work. I actually came home to eat lunch that day to find a crew of workers very carefully cutting and placing the new stone steps in. The crew leader was a perfectionist and the steps look incredible. Jill would arrange to meet me every three weeks or so to go over the project with me. I ended up actually adding on to the original quote and had her put river rock in the back corner of the lawn to define a space and also to help with water shed when it rains. I also increased the size of my gardens behind the house as I grow vegetables there each year (and this year I now have irrigation!). Jill was great with any suggestions and changes as we went through the process (it took about 2 months to complete). I would highly recommend her if you are going to do a landscaping project, she is very personable, she listens, she has incredible experience to draw from, she has a great eye for landscaping and has surrounded herself with people that really enjoy what they do. One of the cool things that Jill did was talk about how I use my flower/garden beds and she found out that I really like to cook, so she designed fresh herbs into the gardens. She also talked to me about types of plants and colors and incorporated that into the design as well.

We think they're fantastic - we've known them for several years. Their design is excellent and we've loved their choices of plants. They are very easy to work with. We've had no complaints along the way. They've been very helpful in not just planning our landscaping, but planning our grading, and where we would put our house, which was a new build.

Jill and her team are absolutely top-notch professionals and a lot of fun to work with! They completely transformed our yard in time to host our daughter's wedding reception. With any big project, there are challenges such as getting 6 inches of rain in under 2 hours that trashes freshly laid sod. When I called in a panic, Jill and her team were immediately on top of it and out there in the mud putting things back together! In addition to making our yard beautiful, they fixed all of our drainage and erosion issues and straightened our driveway. They were full of great ideas and patient when we were being indecisive. Everyone that worked on our home was very responsive, talented, kind and a pleasure to have around. We can't thank you all enough... you are the BEST!

Collaborating with Jill and team at The Whole Blooming Landscape was a wonderful experience, and I wish we had hired her years ago; it really felt like working with a good friend. We have worked with other landscape designers and installers in the past (with satisfactory results), but Jill is the first one who completely understood the entire vision and needs we had for different areas within our property. She shared our enthusiasm for sustainable landscaping and vegetable gardening, and really internalized the concerns we had about preserving the natural surroundings and co-existing with wildlife. The plan that was designed is beautiful, realistic in upkeep and able to be split into multiple phases over time to help us stay within budget. Planning began in the summer of 2010 (there were several revisions necessary), we began construction of the first phase of the design in October, completed it in December and are thrilled with the results. The installation took a bit longer than expected due to weather issues. The team was professional, knowledgeable and open to immediate feedback, ensuring that the project went according to our plans and allowing for slight adjustments along the way. Jill and Sean (our project manager) addressed any issues immediately and met with me regularly. The results are lovely, the stone pathways look natural within the surrounding landscape, and we have received many compliments on the deck modifications and pathways specifically. We look forward to planning and scheduling the next phase with the company in the future.

I was really happy with them. The owner, Jill, listened very well to my ideas and worked them in. I think she brought together a good plan. They were very professional. They were very knowledgeable, particularly in my situation with a very shady yard.

The lawn looks great--they even found some holes (caused by tree limbs) that I did not notice when they estimated the job. They also do my weekly yard service now, and I could not be happier with the service. I highly recommend The Whole Blooming Landscape.

Jill came out to give us a quote, and walked around the property with me exploring what we had to work with and what the possibilities could be. I had a few ideas, and she helped me work through solutions and solidifying realistic plans. She promptly sent me a quote (a couple of days turnaround) with a detailed break down of the various costs. In addition to the quote, I requested a visual representation of the layout of the landscape design (there was a lot in the quote), and she mailed the design layout document (too large to scan) which really sealed the deal for me. The design was very professionally presented, especially compared to the competitors (hand drawings, photoshopped pics, etc.). Once we decided on some details (upgrading some trees to larger ones, etc.), the work began on addressing drainage issues shortly after. The first attempt at grading the backyard resulted in continued drainage problems. We immediately contacted Jill (sending her pictures of the standing water) to let her know the drainage issues had not been resolved, and she sent her head guy out ASAP to resolve it. We were very pleased with the response and the turnaround time. Once the regrading was done, work on the front yard began. The installation of the wall, including a french drain, went seemlessly, and all the landscaping installation (4 garden beds with various trees and shrubs) went off without a hitch as well. 2 years later, we are still enjoying the amazing work that Whole Blooming did, and we are certain the landscaping has added value to the house.

The owner visited my home, discussed my landscaping needs, and provided a detailed landscape plan a couple of weeks later. The plan has a lot of wonderful but easy to care for perennials and shrubs. She graciously updated the plan to revise/remove a few plants that I didn't care for. This plan has been very helpful to me over the past couple of years. I wish I had consulted a professional years ago. It would have saved me a lot of time and money.

I have used (and reported positively) on the company before. I once again used their service and was very pleased. My gravel driveway had not been repaired in 10 years and I needed to have the area redefined and new gravel added. I chose crushed brick for the gravel and have to rave about Jill's thoughtfulness in laying this product on my driveway. She knew that this type of gravel tends to create quite a bit of dust when it is first placed in the driveway but the dust wears off with time. Due to a strong rainstorm scheduled to come to Charlotte, she moved my installation up on her schedule to the morning of the storm so that the strong rain throughout the day would wash the dust from the driveway and alleviate the problem of several weeks worth of dust being present on my driveway. The plan worked and I have not experienced dust from this driveway installation. I think this careful planning demonstrates how professional this company is! I recommend them highly!!

Everyone on the crew was a pleasure, and Sean kept me informed every day as to what would be happening that day or the next. Just as we finished in September, Charlotte implement the no sprinkler water restrictions, so they helped me put down soaker hoses through all the plantings. My yard looks amazing, and I look forward to getting Jill's advice on what plantings to put in my new patio beds in the spring. I will also be working with them again to create a dry creek bed in a gully area of the yard as the final phase this year.

I could go through the thesaurus and list every word that defines: excellence, professional, creative, efficient, meticulous, reliable, responsible, knowledgeable, easy to work with and delightful! I would still feel as though I had failed to adequately describe them and their services. We have struggled over the past twelve years we have lived here with many issues inherent to the topography of our neighborhood, which is older, and would not be allowed to be laid out as it is now if it were built with today's zoning laws. We have very little knowledge whats-more expertise in this area but knew vaguely what we would love to see. Jill and Gigi have been a dream to work with and everyday we check the progress of our beautiful new landscaping! Their communication involves detailed written plans and time-lines. They are always available for conferencing. They invested us with ownership even though we defer to them! Prices are very competitive. We are using their maintenance program too!

THE BEDS WERE PREPARED, MULCHED AND PLANTS WERE PLANTED. THE DESIGN IS FABULOUS AND I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE WORK.
