SALINS GROUP

The company had an inexperienced project manager work on our addition. They paid the subcontractors without verifying that the work was done properly. We have been unable to get them to get a Certificate of Compliance from the county. We have been unable to pass our Building, Mechanical, and Plumbing inspections. It has been a terrible experience for us.

The principal (Ben Collins) was very responsive with the bidding process and seemed to really key into our needs. The bid was the lowest of the three bids we received. Salins Group got a good recommendation from our architect, so we felt comfortable hiring them. There were three major weakness with the project. First, the job foreman did not seem experienced at the quality level we were expecting (and paying for). We did not have confidence in him and expressed this to the owner. Second, the drywall was horrible and caused the cabinets to have to be reinstalled twice. The drywall still is not right, but the drywall owner said it was the best they could do. Third, the punch list and finishing details took way too long to finish and we had to begin to deal with the subs directly to get the job done. Overall I think the foreman was too inexperienced (this was the first project with this company) and the owner didn't supervise well enough.

The plumbing, electrical, and a/c are all inadequate. Our electrical system trips up more than three times a week. We are unable to run a pressure washer as that overloads the electrical box. The A/C randomly shuts off and is unable to properly cool the house when it is running. They had project manager turnover and did not properly supervise the project. The project manager paid the subcontractors without verifying that the work was properly done. They also misquoted how much the brick work was going to cost and this put the project at a loss for them. It seems as if they tried to save money on the plumbing, electrical and A/C which has put us in this difficult position.
