When one of my existing heat pumps required repair I decided to replace the 12 year old unit with another model to take advantage of increased efficiency. R&W sold and serviced the cutting edge product I was interested in getting, They provided a good warranty and a reasonable price. Installation went smoothly. I am pleased with the service so far. I believe they have the professional expertise and the professionalism to provide several options, answer questions and help in choosing the best option without pressure or bias. I have entrusted them with the maintenance of all of my heat pump units. Highly recommended.

shelled out over $14k for a completely new ventilation system and hvac unit. it took them about a week to complete which wasnt really the problem...the problem is that they didnt do a bunch of things correctly and it failed inspection before it even started. didnt hear from them until later the following day after inspection and they didnt even know they failed (eventhough inspector sent them a report). they were even here the day before inspection bc they had wires exposed from unit to our main electrical box!!! then once we got them on the phone to talk about their failures, they scheduled us for 8am the next day. 815am comes and they call and say they are going to be an hour late!!! still waiting for technician but do not have high hopes about us passing inspection again since they had two tries and failed already and are now late for their 3rd try. extremely dissatisfied!

Ross + Witmer did a terrific job. Replacing ductwork requires going without HVAC during the project, which they were very sensitive about considering our having the job done in November. We spotted a decent temperature forecast and began the job right away. Ross + Witmer has done other jobs for us - insulating our attic and second floor crawl spaces several years ago. Our experience then and this time have been excellent. They were prompt, courteous, professional, and kept us up to date on their progress finishing slightly ahead of schedule.

We?ve been using them since before we hooked up with Angie?s List. So, I have been loyal to them too. It?s a family owned business, it?s been around here in this area for 50 or 60 years. I think the maintenance is maybe $275 a year, I may be wrong on that. They are definitely an ?A? or I would have dropped them. I don?t deal with ?B? or below, no! They?re good.

I hate to quote that price, because I don?t know that it?s accurate, it?s just off the top of my head. I may be wrong and I don?t want to do then a disservice. I can?t vouch for the accuracy of that at this point, I?m in the middle of doing something else and not where I can access the records.

Another thing that I like about them is that the technicians that they send out, it doesn?t seem like there is a lot of turnover. You?ve got the same people that come out time and again. Which to me, that says a lot about a company. When you have a lot of the same employees from year to year.

We still have a leak in our system somewhere, the pipe they installed didn't have a downspout, so it stained our house, the new system had pipes attached to our hot water heaters incorrectly so on our first day of needing heat, we had no heat and no hot water.  They also discovered on that appointment that they had installed the filters backward.  It's just been a continuation of problems, leading us to the most recent issue that's been uncovered with the coolant leak by another HVAC contractor.  When my husband reached out to Clay Phillips, the owner, he was extremely defensive and didn't seem to know many of the details of our job.  Perhaps the biggest red flag of all was when Clay told us we couldn't prove they had done the work.  As if we should have been filming them while they were working on our systems in order to ensure we would be covered in the event of a problem.  I've worked with many, many contractors over the years, and I've never had a problem, let alone this kind of debacle.  I hope our experience can at least spare someone the expense and frustration we've endured trying to get this problem resolved

Greg Paxton was great to work with. He knows his stuff. He provided photo documentation of the numerous leaks we had due to floor and wall penetrations including can lights. These leaks not only created heating/AC inefficiencies, but also allowed musty odors and dust to enter the house. His team was outstanding, professional, and very conscientious. No sooner did they finish their work did the odors in our home  and the drafts we had been experiencing all disappeared. Greg explained that we would likely save anywhere between 15-30% on our home heating/AC expenses as well. Well worth the investment!

Ross & Witmer were great! We knew we needed a new furnace and had decided to switch to natural gas. They also alerted us to the need to replace our 20 year old AC unit. They did the instillation on time as promised and made sure the inspection was done in a timely manner. Then, after Piedmont Natural Gas dragged their feet with laying the new gas line to the house (two months later!), Ross & Witmer came out to do the hookup to the gas meter within 1/2 hour of PNG installing the meter. We couldn't have asked for better service!

When they came out on Monday, November 2 for our annual checkup, a new technician serviced our boiler. He claimed the wiring looked funny. I questioned his assessment because the provider was the last one to touch the boiler (when they shut it down in the spring). He said he needed more time with the boiler and would call me back the next day. He never did. I called Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week leaving messages on all three days. The provider finally returned my phone call that Thursday. A manager came out that Friday, Nov. 6. He said it would cost over $1,000 to fix it and they didn't know what the smoking gun was. I said we would think about it.
The following week (Nov. 9) I researched the cost of putting a new HVAC system in our house. We had actually begun that process last spring with Ross and Witmer. We had them come out in the spring to assess our house and to give us a quote. We never heard from them! My husband followed up with them and still no response! So when we resumed the process in November we didn't have a quote from Ross and Witmer. So I called three other vendors to our house for quotes. Due to the enormity of the project and time constraints (we had been without heat ALL FALL), we decided to fix the boiler. We were scrambling and felt under pressure because we had NO HEAT. Ross and Witmer put us in this position by waiting until November to service a paid customer.
I called Ross and Witmer on Monday, Nov. 16 to order the parts to fix the boiler. They said it would take 3-5 days for the parts to arrive. I didn't hear from them all week. I called on Friday, Nov. 20 to check the status. The manager said the parts could come any day. As of today, the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, Nov. 25, the parts have not come in and they have not reached out/communicated to us at all.
When we finally received a proposal from Ross and Witmer for a new HVAC system it only quoted the new units and failed to quote structural and electrical work that would have to be done.
I complained to the vice president of the company about our experiences on the sales side and the repair side. He said all they could do to make amends was to complete their sales proposal re: electrical and structural modifications. A sales representative came out again, this time with an electrician.
I also called and left a message with the owner of the company two times and have yet to hear from him.
