When RJR told us that the trampoline was not covered, he failed to tell us that the real problem was that he had never covered the rentals or the classic cars under the umbrella policy in the first place. It wasn't just that a trampoline was uncovered; the problem was that none of these risks were covered at all. We contacted the insurance commissioner's office, and they advised they will be pursuing this issue. In any event, we repeatedly said we wanted an umbrella to cover the rentals and have emails to prove it. RJR promised to obtain coverage consistent with our needs. It turned out the umbrella policy he got only covered our residence and main cars, and nothing else we owned. And even if the umbrella had covered the rental, the landlord policy he got only provided $100K and the umbrella required a $300K of coverage. If this coverage question about the trampoline hadn't arisen, we wouldn't have known that we had a fraction of the coverage needed.
