Roofing
I used them because of the neighbors and I got ripped off by one of them. They did the next door neighbor, another house and a house in the corner of the next street. I actually watched them do the work and I trusted them. They came over and did the estimates for me and contacted the adjustor for me. I have a lawsuit against them. They ripped me off for $3000 and did not do the work. I had some major roof damage due to storm and things like that. We had hail damage and all kinds of stuff. The insurance company helped me get the money then he ripped me off about half of the money and never did the work. I filed a police report and everything and it ended up costing me $6000. I couldn’t even get hold of him; I tracked him down on the internet and stuff like that. At first he was going to be listed as breach of contract; and it would be like a personal lawsuit but my attorney couldn’t afford to do that. I spoke to the police department and there was a really nice officer and he talked to one of the head detectives and they looked up a statute that would fit the crime. They made it into secondary misdemeanor. I didn’t have to pay anything to have the process. They weren’t able to find the guy and this has been way over a year. It was supposed to cost $6000 and he ripped me off the money. I had a knife collection ever since I was a kid. I used to make handmade throwing knives and I got the stuff form my dad when I grew up so I pretty much had a couple of hundred knives and I slowly gave it away to guests and I sold a bunch of them. I have never ever given somebody two of these knives and I liked him personally but he just “put on such a front” and he said his name was Jeffy Sykes. Basically, he was one of these storm chasers were they would do two or three really good jobs in the neighborhood and start setting people out there. He was very punctual and the price was really a good deal. I also got two other estimates which were almost the same but I liked him because he made an effort to contact the adjustor who came out here and photographed everything. That guy is a criminal. The police tracked him down because of all the information I gave them but they couldn’t track him physically but they tracked all the information about him with his face book pictures and stuff like that. Jeffy Sykes is not even his real name. They said this person is not a nice guy and he has five crimes and nothing major. We could never get hold of the guy and he basically shut down. Regarding his punctuality he was late quite a few times. All he did was view photography and talk to adjustors and then he ended up ripping me up. I spent nine months trying to track him down and the police went to three different locations to try to find him with his previous address. I already contacted BBB and they actually discredited him totally. They removed him from their business bureau and he had really bad reviews about him. Using his name or other alias he will never be able to do business again. He might do a fake id and stuff like that and may be able to do it again but with all the information that I have he will not be able to do it. It took an extra year for the roof to get done. He helped me get the insurance money and he talked me into giving 50% money down because he said he can have all the stuff delivered tomorrow morning, all the shingles, the supplies and the gutters and everything will be delivered tomorrow morning and the next day they will bring the dumpster over. We went outside to locate were we will put the dumpster and everything. He said he will come with the crews as far as the tear down. He said by Thursday or Friday the job will be totally completed and the next day no materials, no dumpster and no crew came. I never saw the guy again and never heard from him again and he never answered my calls. I sent him 15 text messages and even had a police call him and told him to contact them right away but he never contacted them. Even a friend of mine who is a police officer contacted him and tried to get him to call as a customer and try to locate him but he never responded as he took the money and ran. I am not the only person he has done that. His real name is Donald Bradford Sykes Junior and he was using an alias and I have never in my life fallen for something like that but the guy was so convincing and so nice that I liked him personally. It was a horrible experience.

Roofing
I had major roof damage from hail and storms. Remarkable Restorations came to do the estimate for the repairs and took the photos to send to the insurance adjuster. He set me up. He talked me in to giving 50% of the cost down, and he was a really nice guy. He came by with his helper and we're signing the contract, and the Insurance was going to pay about 75% of it, which we thought would be enough to get the job started. He said if he had a deposit that day he could order all the materials: new gutters, downspouts and the roofing materials. He went and cashed the check and they were supposed to drop off the materials the next day. The materials didn't arrive, but he did, the day after that, asking where the dumpster should be. The third day he was supposed to arrive with a crew to get everything in to the dumpster. He assured me that by Thursday or Friday at the latest they'd have all the work done. There were no materials, no dumpster, no crew. I never saw the guy again. I kept calling, sending him messages and text messages, but I never heard from him again. I had no reason not to trust him because he'd just done two of my neighbor's houses. I filed a police report, and the officer I spoke with went out of his way to make this a prosecutable, second-level misdemeanor crime. It is normally just a civil matter, but the police checked on the computer and they found precedent. I went to file the official complaint and now there is a warrant out for his arrest.
