We went into the store to purchase a subzero under counter refrigerator and wind frig for a kitchen remodel we are doing. The salesman, I believe his name was Dave, told us the Uline was the same exact thing a the zubzero and that Uline makes the subzero frig we wanted to buy and sells it for less since they are the actual manufacturer. He took more than 30 minutes to tell us why we should purchase the Uline instead. I am not an appliance expert so he convinced us. Long story short, we purchased the Uline in April. The frig was installed in June. It is nothing like a zubzero and Queen City is NOT standing behind what they sold us.
It leaked all over the floor and our food when bad in about 2 days. The quality and performance of the Uline is not even close to the Subzero, I called to simply return this frig and buy the subzero which costs twice as much, I was told to speak with Richard, the manager. It took more than week for Richard to tell me that Uline will not take the frig back since the warranty paperwork went in in April. I made clear that I DID NOT BUY THIS FRIG FROM ULINE. It is clearly not the same quality as SubZero and we were promised it was the same exact refrigerator.
Response from Queen City has been slow at best.. So far it has taken 2 weeks and nothing has happened. I have been supposed to hear from Keith, who I guess is Richards boss, but still not word. I made it clear , I want toreturn the Uline and buy a Subzero and I need to do it this week as our project is now coming to a close and I have a large opening in my kitchen where a frig is supposed to be.
Horrible service, response and does not stand behind what they sell.
They still have a chance to make it right, but I have to buy the correct frig this week.
Purchasing in-store was pleasurable. The sales person was courteous and knowledgeable. Anything he didn't know immediately, he looked up and gave us a printed sheet. He was able to quickly point out the differences between different models and brands. We returned to Queen City because of an earlier good experience with them.
While we normally do not get extended warranties, a previous experience with a refrigerator from h**l (on which we had purchased one) taught us that they can be economical if a serious problem occurs. Thus, we requested information about this, and purchased an extended warranty.
Queen City delivered the new appliances. We knew in advance on what day they would come. (The appliances were shipped from their Florida warehouse.) On the delivery day, we received a call indicating the time of delivery. The delivery was on time. Entry to and exit from the house was gentle, causing no damage. Installation was professional, including water hoses and dryer vent hose for a gas dryer, hooked to existing external vent. A full explanation was given on operation, though the manual was reasonably well written. Thus, the installation crew was competent in installing and operating.
The old appliances were taken out. We found someone who had no appliances that could use the washer, so they delivered it! (It was near their route, but they were willing to make another stop and do the extra work.) Thus, disposal was minimized.
It is unlikely (hopefully?) that we will purchase more appliances in the foreseeable future. However, if we must, Queen City will be our preferred vendor.
Having just moved into a new home, my wife and I have been relying on Angie’s List for help with big ticket purchases. The new house has the perfect spot for a big screen, high definition TV. We had already bought several items from Queen City Audio Video and Appliances with good sales experiences there, so we returned to see what was out there for HD TVs and Blu-ray players.
The sales person at Queen City Audio Video and Appliances was helpful and knowledgeable of the features and brands. We wanted a model that was large enough for our special spot, be a ‘smart TV’ and meet some requirements I had desired, based on several articles in Consumer Reports. The sales person was able to address all of my concerns, including viewing angle and a question about higher refresh rates.
We found a model by the manufacturer that we preferred and the price was good, along with a Blu-ray player that we were satisfied with. I even let us be upsold to a sound bar, even though we probably didn’t need one. But since this system is going to last us for many years, we decided to splurge a bit. Given the dollar size of the purchase, the sales person even found a way to save us some money on the Blu-ray player price. All in all a good sales encounter.
A week later, we got the call that the delivery was coming in less than an hour, BUT only to bring the sound bar and the Blu-ray player. We were told that the HDTV shipment to the distribution warehouse was delayed and that we would be notified when the TV was going to be in and delivered / installed. The installers came on time, and set up the Blu-ray player on my existing TV, set the sound bar box on the floor and left. This is where things began to go really wrong.
The next week, we were told that the HDTV we bought was due at the distribution center and we be called about an delivery / installation soon. However, that call never happened. I reached out to Queen City Audio Video and Appliances about a week later to find out what was happening. I was told that the TV shipment to the center didn’t happen as expected and that I should call back later for a status. The week after, I called again, I was told the shipment to the distribution center was scheduled that week, but remarkably, again, the shipment wasn't made. No TV.
At this point, I called the sales person, and explained the situation. He offered us a loaner HD TV, which they would deliver that weekend at no cost. We could use it as long as it took to get what we paid for. I appreciated the offer and accepted. That weekend we had a loaner HD TV, delivered and installed with no strings. However the same sad story about the TV being sent to the distribution center but actually not, continued for two more weeks !
While I appreciate the effort to get us a loaner TV, we paid for the HDTV we wanted almost a month and a half ago, and continued to get bad information. At this point, the sales person was able to find a slightly better model, in stock (confirmed), for which we had to pay 50 dollars additional. The better model had features we didn’t want, but at that point, it was that TV or nothing. Now, if we hadn’t been so busy with other parts of moving into our new house, my wife would have cancelled the purchase and gone elsewhere long before this.
So I have to give an overall rating of “D” for this purchase. The price was good, the quality of the product is excellent, but the quality of the service was not. Promising week after week that the distribution house was sending product without a solid confirmation, especially after the first few disappointments, just can’t be excused. Perhaps, the offer of the upgraded model that was in stock and for no additional fee, weeks sooner than this would have garnered a better rating. In the end, this came down to customer service, and it was “bad’.
Having just moved into a new home, my wife and I have been relying on Angie’s List for help with big ticket purchases. The new house had an older dishwasher and after using it for a few times, we agreed that a new one was necessary. We had already bought a bed and a washer/dryer set at Queen City Audio Video and Appliances, we had good sales experiences there, so we returned to see what was out there for dishwashers.
The sales person at Queen City Audio Video and Appliances was very helpful and knowledgeable of the features and brands. We wanted a model that worked hard but was also very quiet. Previous models we had used plastic interiors which held the color of tomato sauce, making them look pink (and dirty). When we were shown an option for an American made model with a stainless steel inner body, and a specialized pot scrubbing feature, we were sold.
Delivery called ahead and arrived in the appointed time frame and this installation went very, well. No problems with the installation and we were included in the discussion about installation options. The installer was sure to be certain that we were satisfied with the installation before leaving.
All in all, it was a good shopping experience and delivery / installation.
Having just moved into a new home, my wife and I have been relying on Angie’s List for help with big ticket purchases. The new and larger house gave us the option for a king bed which we wanted immediately. While at Queen City Audio Video and Appliances, we had a good sales experience with them on a washer and dryer set (but less so on that installation which came after this bed purchase. That’s a different report.)
The sales person at Queen City Audio Video and Appliances was very helpful and knowledgeable of the mattresses and brands. We liked a particular mattress model that kept you cooler than others, and we saw the value in this more expensive option. The bed installers came on time within the appointed hour and set up the frame and placed the box spring and mattress in position as directed by my wife.
All in all, it was a good shopping experience and delivery / installation. My wife and I needed a new washer and dryer, and consulted Angie’s List for aid in selecting a vendor. I wanted a company that was dedicated to appliances, with the hope that having a smaller product offering would compel such a company to be very knowledgeable about their products and focused on customer service / support. A mega-department store or home improvement chain was something I thought to avoid in this endeavor.
I decided to go with Queen City Audio Video and Appliances, with a bit of caution based on previous Angie’s List reports, with particular attention to installations after the purchase. Upon arrival at the store, I found it to be well organized, and my wife and I were pleased with the sales person we spoke with. He was knowledgeable and willing to spend time with us going over the pros and cons of various models and manufacturers. We purchased a washer and dryer set and everything to this point went well enough.
On the installation day, we did get the call ahead notice of the delivery and the two installers arrived within the time frame given. Then things started to go wrong. After reviewing the layout of the dryer door, the installers discovered that the hinge side was on the wrong side of the door, and they were going to have to change it on the fly at the truck. They managed to do so and then moved the appliances into position, then installed the washer hoses and dryer vent conduit. Upon their departure, my wife was eager to get started and proceeded to do several loads of laundry. Later that evening we came back to the house after an errand and heard the sound of dripping / running water! Sure enough, the hot water hose to the washer was leaking, and a good size puddle was on the wood floor and flowing into an adjoining utility room.
It turns out that the installation of the hot water hose was askew and really torqued on very hard. It took a pipe wrench to be able to remove the hose, which severely damaged the hose coupling in the process. The manufacturer of the washer told me that this was a problem for Queen City Audio Video and Appliances, so I drove down to the store, explained the situation and got a new hose, at no charge, and then installed it myself. No leaks.
So, I can’t fault the sales staff, which exchanged the hose and sold us the washer and dryer in the first place, but the installation was not satisfactory. The alignment of the door should have been checked before delivery, as the sales person had already addressed that issue when we bought the dryer. And the installation of the washer hoses was a very simple matter that became a soggy nightmare.
