DEBORAH W.
May 2011
First, they were difficult to schedule with. We first met with them in early Fall of 2009. We tried to arrange to have the work done in November of 2009. From the beginning, they made a show of how nice they were, and I bought into it. I was always accepting when they said this or that prevented them from starting because they seemed so nice. They kept forgetting to schedule us, so that then weather was a problem. They finally managed to schedule us in winter (when freezing would be an issue). The pool replastering looked okay when it was done, but the masonry work was incomplete. I told their manager, and she said they were going to fix it, but they wanted us to make the final payment. I pointed out that although most of the work was done, the job was not complete--indeed the masonry, which for us was the most pressing--hadn't been finished, even though it was the less expensive part of the job. I pointed out that it is often hard to get someone to do the smaller part of the job after you've paid them. Well, they smooth talked me into paying them. ("Of course we would never do that." "We need the money because the economy is so bad." etc.) And after that they wouldn't do the job. A few months later, after my calling them constantly, they sent someone (who also seemed so nice). He said they just hired him as a contractor to fix the problems that the company was having because of staff cutbacks. He started fixing it up, and said he would be back the next day to finish, but we never saw him again. We started calling the company again until Mike Yon (the head guy) verbally abused us on the phone and accused us of harrassing them. He claimed they were long done with the job, etc. etc. I sent him pictures of the current state of the pool, so he would see that it was not done, but never got a response. We thought about suing them, but decided that engaging with this company was really hurting us physically, so we just hired someone else. We spent around $3,000 repairing the damage they did to the masonry and the original problems. (The original quote for repairing the masonry was less than $1000.) We finished dealing with this company around a year ago. I am only now writing this report because it makes my blood pressure go up just thinking about these cheats.
