This is the 3rd and last time we will use Plaza Appliance Service Company. Charging $75 for labor on top of $75 for a service call and diagnostics test for a simple valve replacement is outrageous. The entire service call took 25 minutes from start to finish. The $75 labor charge for 25 minutes of work is the equivalent of $180 an hour! I have no problem being charged a fair price for someone's services, but a labor charge should be based upon the actual time it takes to perform the service. And a charge for a simple diagnostics test on top of the labor charge and the charge for the service call is ridiculous.
To their credit, they were on time for the appointment on the scheduled day. We do not yet know if the replaced part fixed the problem with the dishwasher so we will have to update the review once we know for sure.
I wouldn't, however, recommend buying Kitchenaid......many problems and ultimately in less than three years had a major failure and had to be replaced.
I fully understand the service-industry and have family members that work in a related industry who said that they are 100% responsible for securing their tools and the customer property they are working with and they should have expected animals and/or children in a residential property.
Shame on this company for not being responsible. Shame on the technician for lying. Shame on Chris, the technician, and this company for taking advantage of an older person.
Do not let this company in your home or business. Things may end up in a worse state than when you called them.
The problem turned out to be an electrical problem which the Appliance tech failed to identify or resolve, instead charging us for a service call and 2 new parts.
I had a $50 coupon through the Big Deal. After applying the coupon, the invoice he wrote up was for $288.87, making the total bill $338.87. Subtracting the cost of the icemaker sensor, left well over $200 for the service call and labor. I asked him about this and he indicated that they charged for a service call plus $60 for each appliance worked on plus the labor for the time worked over an hour. When I questioned this, he indicated that he had no flexibility at all.
Bottom line is that I was extremely pleased with the work and the outcome and know that the tech was competant, but I think that their pricing policy is extreme. At a minimum, there needs to be some flexibility. If this is the standard in the market, then I am glad that we have not had issues with other appliances.
I give them high marks for everything but price.
