The experience went well.  He always called if he was running late and was always on time.  Very trustworthy and he always cleaned up after a day's work.

He did a replacement of the base boards. He took down, and replaced the hand rail on the stairs. He repaired, and refinished the stairs. He was a master carpenter, and he felt that replacing the baseboards was sort of beneath him in some ways. We did not care if he was or not, we were paying him to do the work. His prices were higher than we were led to believe.  He started us a week before he went on holiday, and he was not finished with the work. We had to wait for him to get back for the work to be finished. I would use him again, only if I could not find anyone else.

Originally I just wanted to update faucets and paint in two 15 year old bathrooms, Derek had wonderful, inexpensive ideas to update the existing mirrors and tile floors. The end results are beautiful and unique. Derek is a delight to have in my home, personable, punctual and very tidy. Highest recommendations!

A true craftsman! We have an unusual stairway configuration in a 40 year old home that needed a better bannister and handrail. We had a hard time finding someone we felt comfortable with, so when we met Derek, we immediately felt very comfortable with him. His price was very good compared to other companies we contacted, and the fact that he would be doing the work himself made us feel very secure. Derek exceeded our expectations! He did precisely what he said he would, with great care and at the price he quoted. After he finished we discussed some additional work that could be done to make the stairway even better looking. He gave us a very modest price to do the additional work and we are delighted! We think the fact that he was willing to come back to do another "small job" is testament to his pride in his work and desire to make his customers happy!
