16 EMPLOYEES. Watchmaker on site for most repairs and service. USE FACTORY AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTERS FOR SOME QUARTZ WATCH REPAIRS. COST IS DETERMINED BY THE SERVICE. Two graduate gemologists on site for appraisals. Machine and hand engravers to customize your gifts, including wine bottles and wine and champagne glasses. Designers and master craftsmen on site who specialize in custom designing that special piece of jewelry. They also specialize in all jewelry repairs. Silver repair and restoration also available. Recently expanded the store to occupy the entire building at the corner of Fenton Place. Kid's area, hospitality bar and lounge area offered for our customers' convenience. We also exclusively sell Debbie Brooks handbags and accessories in the Charlotte area. Large selection of diamond engagement rings and wedding bands available. We sell Chela by Morrison Smith as well as CYMA brands of watches.

Morrison Smith is an exceptional Jewelry store, and appraisal resource. We brought our 19th Century Silver to get appraised, and they did an exceptional job. Quick, responsive, and all in all great to work with. Definitely will go back for appraisal needs.

They came highly recommended by my financial advisors to appraise my jewelry for insurance purposes. My initial contact with them on March 25 was pleasant, and they appeared to know what they were doing. A female employee checked in each piece of jewelry, gave me a receipt, and advised me that a couple of gold chains couldn't be repaired, but they would credit me $248 for those. She said it would be ready on April 15. I phoned on April 15 and had to go through several employees to find out that the jewelry wasn't ready. No problem at that point since it had only been 2 weeks. Another 5 weeks went by with no contact from them, so on May 20, I phoned again, being shuttled between a couple of employees only to be told that the appraiser was at lunch (at 2 p.m.) and would call me back. When I had not received a call back by 15 minutes before their closing time, I again phoned the store. The appraiser I spoke to said the job was not yet completed. I advised that I would pick up my jewelry on Wednesday, May 22, finished or not. Several excuses were given by the staff on each phone call, and finally the manager of the store called me back to see why I was concerned. I told him I was concerned that they had hocked or lost my jewelry, several pieces of which were family heirlooms. He assured me the jewelry was safe and again gave excuses about how busy they are. He said the pieces would be finished by Wednesday, May 22, and he would call me on Tuesday to confirm. The call came after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. When I arrived at the store to retrieve the pieces, they couldn't find them initially. More excuses. Finally, they found them in the back and checked me out. When I arrived home, I realized that they hadn't credited me the promised $248 from the two gold chains that were broken. Another phone call, more excuses, and finally an agreement to credit the card I used to pay for the service. That was Wednesday, May 22. As of today, June 2, the credit has not appeared on my credit card statement. Needless to say, I am appalled at their rotten customer service. When asked and quot;how can we make this right for you?and quot; I told them, and quot;don't treat your next customer the way you treated me.and quot; No remorse from them, and still no credit remitted to my card. I will never shop there again, and I have
notified my financial advisors that they need to find another jeweler to refer their clients; they agreed that my experience was inexcusable and will not refer others to Morrison Smith. Additionally, one of Morrison Smith's employees is an independent contractor who appraises silver flatware. Same problem with her. She came to my house in March to appraise my silver flatware, cashed my $200 check right away, but I had to demand the results of her appraisal which I received when I picked up my jewelry two months later. Shame on them! Their sterling (no pun intended) reputation is very tarnished.
UPDATE, June 8, 2013: I phoned again on Monday, June 3, and spoke with the store manager who promised to look into the matter further. He said that if the credit had not posted to my account, he would have a check issued in the amount of the refund I have due. Three more days went by with no telephone call, no credit to my credit card, and no check in the mail. I called the store manager back on Thursday, June 6, and he put me on hold to speak with the auditor. The store owner, Charles Smith, came on the line and issued a profuse apology, but again made excuses about being away from the store on a family emergency and something about a software glitch regarding issuing refunds to credit cards. I expressed my frustration and concern about the lack of communication between his staff and me and requested an immediate remittance via check of the refund due me. He promised that it would be in today's mail, and sure enough, on June 7, the promised refund arrived with a note outlining his actions with his staff to rectify their sloppy customer service. I can only hope that the staff has learned their lesson; it appears that the owner has. While I still will never shop there again, my advice to others who may is to nail down, preferably in writing, any promises made by them. And good luck.

oThe people who waited on me were very kind and helpful. The saleswoman explained what my options were, showed me examples, and then called the jeweler out to talk to me. The jeweler was very knowledgeable and more than willing to explain everything to me and break down the charges after I balked a bit about the cost. Even though I was not planning to spend that much and had gotten a lower quote from another store, this jeweler convinced me that I would be happy with the results and that it was well worth the price. The work was done promptly, actually ready a few days early, and I have been very happy with the rings. They fit well and look great.

I think they are high class. I don't know whether they are cheap or not but I think they are fair. Their service is reliable and professional. Their sales personnel are personable, honest, and not pushy. It is safe to go in there.

THE SALES STAFF WAS VERY COURTEOUS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. A MISTAKE WAS MADE IN THE DIRECTION THE ENGRAVING WAS PLACED. HOWEVER, THE COMPANY DID TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND ORDERED A REPLACEMENT, WHICH WAS SENT DIRECTLY TO MY RESIDENCE IN LESS THAN A WEEK (NO EXTRA SHIPPING COST). I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE FINAL RESULT!

I WAS AMAZED BY THE PROFESSIONALISM OF MORRISON SMITH JEWELERS AND KEN, OUR SALES REPRESENTATIVE. DUE TO THE PLATINUM SOFTENING AND CHANGING SHAPE, MY WIFE AND I WERE SURE THAT WE WOULD NEED TO TOTALLY RE-SET THE DIAMONDS. AS SOON AS WE MET KEN, HE ASKED IF WE HAD THOUGHT OF HAVING THE RING REPAIRED WITH NEW SHANKS BEING INSERTED. WE WERE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THIS OPTION, BUT KEN TOOK US INTO AN OFFICE WHERE HE WALKED US THRU THE DETAILS AND PRICED BOTH OPTIONS. HE DID END UP REALIZING THAT HE WAS "TRYING TO SAVE US MONEY." THEY DIDN'T TALK US INTO THE MORE COSTLY CHANGE. THE RING WAS TO BE REPAIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY (10 DAYS). WE CAME HOME YESTERDAY TO FIND A MESSAGE THAT THE RING WAS READY... SLIGHTLY OVER 24 HOURS AFTER WE DROPPED THEM OFF !!! THEY REPAIRED HER RINGS AND THE SMILE ON MY WIFE'S FACE MADE IT WORTH WHATEVER THE COST WAS !!! THANKS!

THEY WERE VERY SPECIFIC ABOUT GOING THROUGH EACH PIECE. FOR THE LESS EXPENSIVE ITEMS THEY WOULD ONLY GIVE ME A VERBAL ESTIMATE. THESE WERE NOT GOING TO BE INSURED. IT CAN TAKE QUITE A LONG TIME FOR AN APPRAISAL IF YOU HAVE MANY PIECES BUT THEY DO A VERY GOOD JOB OF RESEARCHING UNUSUAL PIECES AND CAN GIVE YOU A REPLACEMENT COST OR RESALE PRICE COST. THEY ALSO SEND A COPY OF THE APPRAISAL TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR AN UPDATE AS WELL AS GIVING METHE ORIGINAL. THEY CHARGE BY THE HOUR AND ITS LESS EXPENSIVE IF YOU HAVE AN OLD APPRAISAL OF ANY OF THE PIECES. I PLAN TO TAKE MY IN-LAWS JEWELRY IN LATER THIS WEEK SO WELL HAVE A RECORD FOR ESTATE PURPOSES.
