It took a minute to get it all done. The tree fell on my daughter?s car in the driveway and in the process of doing it, it hooked all the lines and the box blew. It?s an older box. We were out of power about 2 weeks, because when they fixed the line the box itself had caught on fire. We couldn?t put power back into the house until the box was repaired. There was no mechanism to control the electricity coming back into the house. That was the reason why I was trying to reach the other company and I called and I couldn?t get anything. I couldn?t get any response, it was just a volume of people.
Even with Mister Sparky it was a week long waiting list to get service because the storm had caused so much problems all over town, all over the city. So, I finally got into the front of the line and they came out and they did a pretty good job. I had to have my whole system redone. The outside box, the meter, the grounding of the electrical. They had to reground everything from beginning to end of the home, everything from the connection to the power. Everything on that side of the house caught on fire and I had some kind of permanent damage. All of it had to be scrapped. Everything over there?s new now and its properly ground for my gas and my electric. New everything. The inside electrical box is fine, but everything else had to be repaired.
I?m still waiting for? the county inspector has to inspect it before its officially finished. Again, there is so many people in the same position that I?m just in a waiting for them to come back. They have to put my name on the list, so this inspector is going to probably hundreds of people that has similar types of damage. It?s not completely done. The inspector has to see that everything has been done and finished and at that point I can officially have our power. I do have power, but they call it being on them. They just put the power and it?s connected and everything is working fine. It?s a good test period too to see if anything comes up. I can just call and say hey this has happened, but I have had no problems with the new equipment that they put in.
It was ?a lot? of work! They had to take everything down, there was nothing useable that was up there. Everything had to be replaced outside. It was a lot of work, the technician work hours. He spent a day on it, he didn?t get anything done but my house. I would give them an ?A+?. Insurance paid a part of it, the total bill was $3,938. That was the actual bill and it included everything. I have no more feed, I?m just actually waiting to finish the whole thing. What they quoted me is what I spent and everything went well.
I like the way they have very good customer service. The technician spent a lot of time talking to me about the history of the house, an older house. The person that I dealt with was very patient and I talked to the customer service line and they spent been a minute really talking to me. I was able to use a few discounts that they offered me, so still I got very good customer service. I was happy with the service they provided me.
It would have been better if I had not had to wait a week for my appointment, but in order to move your appointment up instead of paying the regular fee for the service appointment. It was $59, but if I wanted to do it the same day, it was $200. Because, of the circumstances, that would have made it even better if they had been able to start earlier. The price could have been less, but considering the whole thing I can?t give them an ?A? for price, because I spent good money on that. We ran into a fair amount of trouble with financing.
The price could have been less. I found other discounts afterwards, but I?m not completely unhappy with it at all. Mostly I?m happy that it got done and considering the extensiveness of it when your whole outside electrical system goes ?poof?, and you have smoke on the side of your house. You know you?re not going to get it done for a cheap price.
It?s good stuff they put up there. He upgraded me in this whole thing, which that is also considered in the price. He could have used just enough to repair it, but he upgraded it all. Upgraded my amperage coming into the house. I just use it as an opportunity just to put up what I?ve been meaning to do anyway. I wish I didn?t have to do it because of my box. You should have seen the pieces just crumble in the man?s hand. It was interesting to see metal that just crumble, but it was that type of heat that caused the fire. I wasn?t home when that happened.
I came home to see my daughter?s car under a tree and the electrical hanging across it. My neighbor said there was a fireball. The house didn?t catch on fire. If it had been a regular wood frame house it would have caught on fire. Most of the bottom part of my house is brick and the top is siding. On the brick, there?s still a black spot from the fireball. Had it been wood on the house, my daughter was home by herself, it would have been a fire.
They were very responsive. It was a tough time getting through on the line, because when I called everybody was trying to get their situation under control. They?re very punctual. It was a very professional technician and I liked the way that customer service handles things. They did a good job.
