Responded quick and solved the problem. However, job is not high quality, paid cash but have not received recept 2 month now. Charged $250 total to just replace a $20 switch. Did not offer to check the tank pressure which caused short cycle. It is not good professional.

We discovered our pump was not working late in the day, and they were the only pump repair company that responded to an after hours call. They said they'd arrive at ten the following morning. They arrived right when they said they would, and after inspecting the pump, had it fixed within about thirty minutes. There was a loose wire in the pump. The fee was quite reasonable.

McCall Bros. sold me a service contract for my grinder pump back in 2005. The language of the contract explicitly stated that they would stock replacement parts for the pump. The only problem was that I now know that the manufacturer stopped making my pump several years before the contract was signed. McCall Bros. never informed me that they were not stocking the parts per the contract. They had no trouble taking my money every year while knowing they were not honoring the contract. When the pump failed in late 2012, they were not able to repair it and it cost me over $2,000.
Response from MCCALL BROTHERS INC
"Unfortunately, Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s pump was one of only a few pumps of this particular model that were designated for use in this subdivision. This was due to special circumstances with his property and installation. Virtually all other properties in the same community were outfitted with the standard model. The pump manufacturer ceased manufacture of this limited model and we were unable to procure one to replace it. We had no choice but to substitute the closest similar product since the exact replacement was no longer available. The customer was not pleased that were were not able to continue to stock a product that had not been manufactured for several years. We don't make the pumps, we just install them and repair them. Without access to the parts or the pump, there was really nothing else we could do."

They returned on monday and pulled my pump and replaced it. This is a
long process since my pump is down 380 feet. Takes about 6 hours to
pull and replace. After pump was replaced it would not hold pressure.
Tech felt there must be a hole in the line from the well head to my
home. There was NO work done on my home anywhere near where the water
line is located. We waited 3 more days for the underground powerline
finding service to show up to mark my ground since they felt they were
going to have to dig up my old water line and replace it. I suspected a
large tree near the house foundation might have pierced the water line
so they removed it and dug down to where the water line entered the
house. No leak. Just before they were going to call out the back-hoe I
asked the tech if there is a way to see if the new check valve that was
supposed to be installed on my new pump might be malfunctioning. Sure
enough, that was where the problem was. They had to repull the pump and
lo and behold: NO check valve was installed. Once the new check valve
was installed and the pump returned below the ground everything was
working fine. Now I've lost a 15 foot arborvitae tree. Next, my
reverse osmosis filter went out. This was odd since we just had the
filters changed 1 month prior. I had Culligan return and when they
pulled the filters they were coated in red dirt along with the
membrane. $319 to replace. I received my bill and complained to Mr.
Miller about the problem. He obfuscated some explanation but I insisted
he eat the cost to fix my RO unit. He did BUT I have to replace, at my
expense, the tree. That's costing in excess of $1000. Nice.
These folks are quick to respond but their expertise is questionable. Use at your own risk

Response from MCCALL BROTHERS INC
"This was an unfortunate incident. Most pumps that are installed today either have a built-in check valve which is integrated into the pump construction, or come with an external check valve already installed in the pump. This particular one did not have an external valve installed and the tech mistakenly presumed that it had a built-in valve. The technicians received additional training following this incident, and the service manager who handled the situation has been replaced. It is our goal to provide only qualified technical personnel to our customers for service repairs and we expect our service managers to be responsive to the customer's needs."

I was happy with being able to get McCall Borthers here on a Sunday- the first hour is $115 and $80 per hour after that. Wish he would have had a secong guy with him to help him get done faster for his sake as well as my $395 labor fee. Everything has been functioning flawlessly since it was replaced. I do wish they would have offered to add an inline cartridge filter to help cut down on the iron and particles that were coming in during the first week. Not a big deal - but I would have gladly paid to have that put in. I wasnt left an invoice with prices- just the approximate cost from the installer Patrick. I was contacted later in the week to be given my full price. They installed a Gould's 7GS05 - which comes with a 3 year warranty. Added the extra 2 years of Warranty for $100 more- so we know the pump is guaranteed for the next 5 years. The invoice was sent with just a materials cost, and labor cost - no breakout of what the individual items cost- but in the end it was $977.90 for parts and $395 in labor. I dont know who else you call around Charlotte for wells other than McCall Borthers- but they do good work. They did inspect our well before we purchased the home- I was disappointed that the initial inspection didnt tell us that it was the original 30 year old pump down in the well. I learned more from the tech who replaced the pump about our well than from the guy who inspected it.

They showed up on time. They got the job done quickly and efficiently. They did a nice job cleaning up the area where they did the work. The people were friendly and courteous. They were professional and easy to deal with.

They were early, came, and fixed the problem. They were courteous. They could have tried to tell me that the 20-year-old system needed to be replaced. We were very impressed their service.

We lost water on Thursday evening and they came out mid-day Friday to diagnose and fix the problem. Worked quickly, explained everything, and told me how to increase my water pressure - it's great again for the first time in at least a year!

We noticed a dramatic decrease in water pressure from our well. The technicians arrived and checked the system finding a faulty gauge and switch and no pressure in the pressurized tank. The parts were quickly replaced the tank pressurized and the system rechecked. The technicians were great about explaining what they were doing and why. They showed my husband how to check the pressure in the future and how to re-pressurize the tank if need be.

They did a great job. They were on time and fast. They were out to our home within 3 hours. The guys were friendly, respectful, they did their work. I had to fill the hole and saved myself some money. They were pretty fast due to the emergency of me not having any water.

Inspection had to be performed when I went there- so I only got the report. They tested storage tank & diaphragm in crawlspace. Determined no pressure was due to pressure switch. They replaced the switch and gage without authorization for $27.20 - now normally this would make someone mad- but not me. I had already had the plumbing inspection done and the plumber thought we had a bad diaphragm. So the $27.20 switch and gage saved me a couple of hundred dollars with a plumber I didn't need to spend. As well they tested the well and gave me all the data I needed to know about the well in my new home. Final report was thorough and detailed.

Awesome! Even though they were pretty busy, they had originally given us a 1-2 day estimate to get out to see us. We got a call within 2 hours of when they called us saying that they could rearrange their schedule and come right over - we were thrilled. They were able to not only remove the pump and deem it "dead", but also have a runner bring a new pump which they immediately installed. They got the entire job done in just a few hours, and I am very pleased to say that our system is working flawlessly again. I highly recommend McCall Brothers and have definitely referred my friends to them. This was our second time using them and we are completely satisfied.

I WAS PREPARED TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE NEW PUMP, AND I ONLY HAD TO PAY 1/3 OF WHAT WE THOUGHT, FOR CHECKING SYSTEM, CLEANING PRESSURE SWITCH, AND SETTING BREAKER. THE CREW WAS HONEST. I FELT THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. THEY WERE OUT WITHIN AN HOUR.

RESPONSIVENESS WAS OUTSTANDING, ESPECIALLY, GIVEN THAT THEY HAD TO COME OUT ON THE SAME DAY I PLACED THE CALL. THEIR TECHNICIANS NOT ONLY IMPROVED THE WATER PROCESS PROBLEM, BUT FOUND THE TRUE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM (THE NEWLY INSTALLED WATER HEATER WAS PUT IN BACKWARDS). THEY WERE SO HELPFUL & PATIENT WITH EVALUATING & IMPROVING THE WATER PRESSURE & DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO MEET WITH MY SATISFACTION. THEY ALSO AGREED TO BILL ME LATER SO THEY WOULD ENSURE I RECEIVED AN ACCURATE STATEMENT. THEY DID PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE BEFORE DEPARTING, & THE FINAL BILL WAS LESS THAN WHAT THEY INDICATED. WE WILL DEFINITELY KEEP THEM ON OUR LIST IF FUTURE PROBLEMS ARISE WITH OUR WELL SYSTEM.

MCCALL WAS SENT BY THE HOMEBUYERS WARRANTY, WHICH ALSO PAID THE FIRST $600 OF THE $1200 COST. MORE THAN HALF THE COST WAS A NEW WELL PUMP. EXISTING WELL PUMP WAS OLD AND WORN OUT. COMPANY WORKED ALL DAY IN THE RAIN TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT, WELL IS ONLY SOURCE OF RUNNING WATER FOR OUR HOUSE. DURING FOLLOW-UP CALLS BILL MILLER EXPLAINED HOW TO ADJUST THE PRESSURE SWITCH ON THE RETENTION TANK.

THE TECHNICIAN WAS VERY POLITE AND FINISHED THE JOB VERY QUICKLY. I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED TO BE CHARGED A $75 SERVICE CHARGE IN ADDITION TO 2 HOURS OF LABOR. I MIGHT TRY ANOTHER COMPANY IN THE FUTURE BEFORE I WOULD CALL THEM AGAIN.

THEY HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH EQUIPMENT SO THEY WERE LATE, BUT DIDN'T CALL TO LET ME KNOW. THEY ALSO HAD SOME EQUIPMENT THAT THEY HAD TO GO GET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JOB, BUT I WAS NOT CHARGED FOR THIS TIME.
