JOHN STERRETT

My husband and I were relocating to Charlotte because I found a job here after six months out of work. We decided to rent a house for our first year, to enable us to get to know the city before we actually bought a home. The reason we needed a house is because we have 2 large dogs (60 lbs and 70 lbs) that require a fenced backyard. I was not having very good luck finding what I was looking for. I'd contacted John because his company was doing property management for a home that I was interested in seeing. When he replied back to my questions about the home, it wasn't going to meet my needs -- but he offered to help me find a home that did. Not all real estate agents will help clients find rentals, so I happily accepted his help. John pointed out that he would show me not only homes that his company managed, but any rental home from MLS, other property management companies, and any "by owner" rental home that I saw in a neighborhood that I liked. After learning more about what we needed, he even drove through neighborhoods to make a list of what was available for me. John took care of arranging showings, either through the central showing service or the individual owners/property managers. He really put a lot of time into the process that I just didn't have. John worked with me in the evenings after work and before the sun set, and then set aside some full days to work with my husband. All of these services did not cost us anything; since he worked with the owners and property managers to negotiate a potential commission for referring us. He put hours and days worth of work into finding us a home, was very personable, quickly got to know our likes and dislikes, advised us about the city and about common local rental practices. We wouldn't have been able to find our home without him. John Sterrett is a good listener who is dedicated to meeting his clients' needs. He is warm and forthright. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to secure a rental home OR to buy or sell real estate based on my experience working with him.
