Jim Sirmans Custom Cabinetry & Home Remodeling

I wanted to re-do my living room.  I knew I needed to start with the windows -- they were drafty, old, single-pane, painted-shut and dog-chewed.  I wanted someone to help organize the project beginning to end -- windows through paint to furniture & accessories.  I checked Angie's List and found an interior designer.   She brought Jim in to handle the window replacement.  
The three of us met and together came up with a design I liked.  Jim had some terrific input as to what was needed structurally, and the designer and I worked with that to create the design for the windows.  I wanted a specific model of a specific brand to match the windows I had already installed in the rest of the house.  Jim and the designer sourced the window, measured, and ordered them.  Thanks to Jim's eye for structural details, we were able to add about 4" more actual window space in the same opening the old windows occupied.  I liked that.  Once they arrived, Jim stayed in good contact with me to arrange times to come do the work.  He and a helper came on the first day and had the old windows removed and the new ones roughed in on the same day, which is good since it was January!  
Jim returned later to do the finish work outside, and meet with the person from the shutter company to decide how to prepare the interior for shutter installation.  This is where it got really good.  Jim came up with a beautiful design to accommodate the bulky window hardware behind the shutters, and added detail above and below that turned some ordinary picture windows into a stunning focal point.  Sure -- it cost more than I expected to pay for that part of my overall living-room make over, but it is so worth it!  I couldn't be happier.  
Jim's professionalism is top-notch.  His workmanship is flawless.  Whenever I engage someone to work on my home, I always look for a couple of things.  First, respect.  I don't hire anyone who's condescending to me, the homeowner.  Jim was an absolute joy to work with and collaborate on framing solution for my new shutters.  Second, workmanship.  Jim's workmanship is truly beautiful.  Third, professionalism.  Do they show up when they say they will?  stick to the budget?  respect my home and property?  Jim did all of that.  I would recommend him to others without hesitation.
