He is a wealth of knowledge about plants and will tell you everything you need to do, what products work best, various places to find them. He also will help with the physical work, but we chose to do that ourselves and work from his plan. We used him on our previous home and think that is part of what helped it to sell in late 2009. We knew we would call him again for our new home.

I met Jerry Furr when he was at Furrs' Nursery on Monroe Road several years ago and was impressed by his knowledge and willingness to discuss plants, etc. I found him here on Angie's list and as I needed some work done in my yard, I gave him a call. He came out on a Saturday and after we walked the yard and I told him what I was looking for, he proceeded to draw me out an extensive plan for my yard. This included the number and kind of plants and where to purchase them, the type of dirt and mulch and where to get it and names of people who could do the work for me if I chose to go that route. I found him to be most helpful when I told him that I would probably be doing the work myself. I would most definately use him again.

Since we first contracted with Jerry in 2003, we have used his services for all of our landscaping needs.

Before drawing up the plan, Jerry asked about our likes and dislikes and what our overall intent was. He spent the better part of 4 hours walking around the yard and drawing to scale his design. He never took a break and never even sat down, except to explain everything to me at the end. He indicated his firm could do the actual plowing and planting for an additional $8,000, which wasn't in our budget.

I got what I was expecting. He came back when there was a question about a drainage issue, and I really appreciated that. This issue was not even his fault. He was very responsive. I would use him again in the future and would recommend him to others.

He was excellent the yard looks great. They finished our yard in a good amount of time. he is great with plants. He is very knowledgeable. He was good to help us find other contractors and such as well. I would definitely recommend him.

Furr's Landscaping laid mulch, provided weed prevention and fertilizing. They also provided powerwashing to my gutters. The owner is a very nice guy. He provides most of the work. He is very easy to work with. If he says he's going to do something, he does it. He keeps his word. He charges a reasonable price.

He has imaginative ideas and he is really good. He is very pleasant to work with.

I couldn't be happier with the final product. JD listened to what I wanted and what the problem areas were and provided a detailed plan. I had talked with a couple other designers beforehand and they could not offer what JD provided at the price. I am very satisfied with the work and look forward to start working on the yard!

Jerry designed a terrific landscape plan for an existing home that we had recently purchased. He solicited our input on what we liked and didn't like. He gave us choices and options based on who and how the installation was going to be done. He is enthusiastic about his work, very knowledgeable, and gave us some great ideas. He is also willing to provide plants and do the install but is also very willing to provide advice and instruction if it is to be done by someone else. Very pleased with his work!

I was thrilled with the plan. Jerry was very professional. He arrived 15 minutes early for the appointment. He developed the designs on-site from 9:00am to 1:00pm. He was able to incorporate my ideas, but really put a special touch to the design by incorporating a variety flowering plants and native plants. Best of all, he created a plan that would work with my "lack of gardening" skills. For the 4 hours he spent, I received a detailed drawing, full cost write-up by plant name and installation cost. I thought the price was fantastic (I compare it to a very lame $800 plan I received a few years ago at another house).

HE LISTENED TO MY IDEAS AND PUT INTO PLACE PLANS WE CHOSE TOGETHER. LANDSCAPE WORKED WELL FOR MY YARD. HE HAS ADDED COLOR IN FRONT YARD WHERE THERE IS NOT, IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. HAS KEPT GUARANTEE ON WORK.

I THOUGHT HIS COST WAS HIGH. BUT I THOUGHT HE DID A GOOD JOB ON THE PLAN.

JERRY WAS EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE AND OFFERED GREAT SUGGESTIONS. HE IS A WALKING ENCYCLOPEDIA WHEN IT COMES TO PLANTS/LANDSCAPING. HE IS VERY HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS. I WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO HIRE HIM FOR YOUR DESIGN NEEDS.

VERY ENJOYABLE TO WORK WITH, MET ALL HIS COMMITMENTS AND MY EXPECTATIONS, WISH WE HAD BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES TO DEMONSTRATE THE IMPROVEMENTS. LISTENED TO MY NEEDS, WILL BE USING HIM AGAIN.

THE OWNER ARRIVED ON TIME, WAS VERY CLEAN, COURTEOUS AND EASY TO TALK WITH. WE WENT AROUND THE AREA A COUPLE OF TIMES TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS AND WHAT I WANTED. HE WAS VERY FRIENDLY, BUT WAS ON THE CELL PHONE A LOT. I WENT IN THE HOUSE A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE HE LOOKED THINGS OVER. HE WENT TO HIS TRUCK FOR PAPER AND PENCIL TO MAKE NOTES (I THOUGHT) HE STARTED DRAWING AND CONTINUED TALKING ON THE PHONE. AFTER 1 1/2 HOURS I ASK HIM HOW MUCH LONGER WOULD HE BE (I NEEDED TO GO TO WORK.), HE SAID HE WAS DOING THE DESIGN NOW INSTEAD OF LATER AT THE OFFICE. I THOUGHT HE WOULD TALK TO ME ABOUT THE PROJECT AND PRICING BEFORE STARTING A DESIGN. I THEN ASKED HIM IF THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR THIS AND HE SAID, ''DIDN'T I TELL YOU ON THE PHONE I CHARGE $70.00 A HOUR, MY PRICE HAS NOT CHANGED IN 3 YEARS. WHEN HE FINISHED HE TOLD ME I OWED HIM $270 FOR THIS DESIGN AND THE LANDSCAPING PRICE WAS ''WAY'' OUT OF RANGE, OVER $8000. I FELT COMFORTABLE USING HIM BECAUSE OF ANGIE'S LIST AND LET MY GUARD DOWN.

I SHOWED HIM WHAT KIND OF FLOWERS I AM ACCUSTOMED TO HAVING, I.E. MATURE FLOWERS. HE WAS VERY PLEASANT. IT WAS HIS EXECUTION OF THE PLANS THAT WAS NOT THERE. HE DID THE WORK HIMSELF AND IT WAS TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY, AREAS TO BE TILLED WEREN'T AND INSTEAD HE PUT MULCH OVER THE GROUND. HE PUT BIG PLANTS UP IN THE FRONT OF THE YARD CONTRARY TO WHAT WE DISCUSSED. HE TOOK ALL THE TAGS OFF OF THE PLANTS, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THESE PLANTS ARE OR HOW TAKE CARE OF THEM. I HAVE TALKED TO HIM TWICE, EVEN TAKING DAYS OFF OF WORK. HE QUOTED ME A PRICE, BUT ONLY DID HALF THE WORK. I FEEL I AM BEING TAKING ADVANTAGE OF. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT HIRE HIM AGAIN.

JERRY IS VERY FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE, LISTENED TO OUR DESIRES, OFFERED SUGGESTIONS, AND INCORPORATED THEM INTO A GREAT LANDSCAPE PLAN HE DREW UP WHILE HE WAS HERE. HE EVEN WELCOMED QUESTIONS BY PHONE OR EMAIL.

JERRY ALWAYS ANSWERED HIS CELL PHONE PROMPTLY AND PROVIDED STATUS UPDATES. HE CAME WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD AND MADE SURE TO CLEAN UP WHEN DONE FOR THE DAY. WE LIVE IN A TOWNHOME COMMUNITY, SO HE HAD TO FOLLOW STRICT PARKING RULES (NOT AN EASY TASK FOR A TRUCK AND TRAILER). JERRY IS A WALKING ENCYCLOPEDIA OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SHRUBS, TREES, FLOWERS, ETC. WE'D CERTAINLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE. COST INCLUDES ORIGINAL DESIGN FEE.

HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB PICKING PLANTS THAT WOULD ENHANCE THE YARD AND WERE NOT THE USUAL STUFF YOU SEE PLANTED. IT IS A VERY ARTISTIC ARRANGEMENT.

JERRY RESPONDED TO MY VOICEMAIL THE SAME DAY, AND WAS AT OUR HOUSE WITHIN TWO DAYS. HE WALKED THE PROPERTY WITH US, HEARD OUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS, AND THEN SPENT THE NEXT 3 HOURS ON-SITE CREATING A HAND-DRAWN LANDSCAPE DESIGN. HE CREATES A WONDERFUL PLAN FOR YOUR YARD, AND ITEMIZES/PRICES ALL PLANTS AND MATERIAL. HE LEAVES YOU WITH A DETAILED SKETCH/PLAN, ITEMIZED PLANT/MATERIAL LIST, AND LOTS OF EXPERT ADVICE. HIS KNOWLEDGE OF PLANTS/TREES IS AMAZING. HE GAVE US SOME GREAT IDEAS!

RESPONSE TO MY INITIAL TELEPHONE INQUIRY WAS PROMPT. JERRY FURR SHOWED UP ON TIME FOR OUR APPOINTMENT, AND AFTER A BRIEF BUT THOROUGH DISCUSSION OF MY GOALS AND PREFERENCES, HE INSPECTED THE PROPERTY AND THEN CREATED A DETAILED DRAWING ON THE SPOT, COMPLETELY ITEMIZED AND TOTALED. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE DESIGN, WHICH MADE INTELLIGENT USE OF THE EXISTING LANDSCAPING, WAS VISUALLY PLEASING, WITHIN MY STATED BUDGET AND ACHIEVED MY GOALS FOR APPEARANCE AND PRIVACY. HE THEN WORKED QUICKLY TO GET THE WORK COMPLETED DURING A BREAK IN THE UNUSUALLY RAINY WEATHER WE WERE EXPERIENCING AND ALWAYS LEFT MY YARD IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. JERRY IS VERY PERSONABLE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT HIS WORK.
