Appliance Sale, Door Service + 1 more
The in-store sales help was excellent as always. They were helpful, found me the best deal, ordered the door, kept me up to date on the schedule. The expediter was polite, responsive, and followed up on every detail. The Installer (ABR Builders) was less than wonderful. They were nice enough guys (no Home Depot badges though.) They were unprepared. They did not bring appropriate caulk for a wood door (clear), but only brought white. They did not have any tarps to protect my wood floors or exterior brick from debris, dents or caulk spillage. They had difficulty working a Dremel (which I had to supply) to cut the interior baseboard. They had difficulty re-installing the deadbolt so it engaged properly. When I inspected the job more closely after they left, I saw that the cuts to inset the lock plates were sloppy and required filling, and the lock set itself was not straight, or even. I had to wipe caulk up from the brick (not easy). I might expect this stuff in a builders spec. house, but not from the Design Center. Too bad, since I won't buy install services from this HD again.... can't risk it.

Appliance Sale
We found another company through Angie's List which had no measuring fee, no delivery fee and their installation fee was a fraction of what Home Depot's was. We canceled our order with Home Depot and they were going to charge a restocking fee for the cook top, but after speaking with the store manager, he agreed to refund us the entire amount, except the measuring fee ($100). The lesson we learned from this experience was always check Angie's List before making any type of purchase.

Appliance Sale
What a wreck! They have NO idea what they're doing. The Design Center contracts with a company to measure and install. However, the installers are located in Florida and and had to travel to NC - a scheduling nightmare. On top of that, the folks at customer service at the Home Depot Design Center who were supposed to call me at each step to schedule, etc. never called, so I had to track them down to get information on scheduling, then several more calls to schedule installation, then yet more calls to find out about delivery, etc. Other stores usually had appliances installed in under three days. We're at two weeks already and it will probably be a month before the job is finished. Calls to the Design Center are routed haphazardly - ask for Appliances and you'll find yourself transferred to Flooring. The appliances manager was helpful, but good luck finding her as the operators won't page her and you never know where you'll wind up when they transfer you.
