This company is also dba "Griffin Home Services". I contacted Brian Griffin on 7/22 to request an estimate for services. He responded right away and came by that day. During the visit, he was friendly and professional, emphasizing their attention to detail, particularly for the windows and gutters. I called him a week later (7/29) to accept the estimate and schedule the service; we scheduled it for the following Tues. (8/4). However, he called me back later that day (7/29) and stated that due to bad weather at the location of another job, they could come and start the work that day. I agreed and asked whether they needed us to move any of the furniture off the decks/porches; he said no, they would take care of that. They arrived late in the afternoon and completed all of the work. The fact that they pressure washed a 3000+ square foot house, a large deck, 3 porches, and cleaned roof and gutters in a little over 2 hours should have been a signal to me that they had not done a good job. I also noticed that while they were here, they did not remove the furniture from the decks and porches, but simply moved it around slightly. When Mr. Griffin let me know he was done, we did a brief look around (it was our dinner time by this point), and I pointed out some issues on the front porch – cob webs around the windows and the porch ceiling and fine debris on the stone floor of the porch. He stated that cobwebs are “hard” to get with a pressure washer and assured me that the dirt would “disappear” when the porch dried. I did not closely inspect the rest of the job – my bad – I was way too trusting – and I paid him for the job in full. The next day, I did a closer inspection and noticed many issues – - The dirt on the front porch had not magically disappeared – in fact the porch was probably dirtier than before they came. They had not even bothered to move the welcome mat, and there was significant debris underneath and around it. - The roof still had significant leaves and small debris – it looked like all he had done was remove large sticks that had fallen from the trees, but had made no attempt to blow off or remove smaller debris. - A gutter on one side of the house looked untouched – from the ground you could see sticks and leaves hanging over the side. - Most window sills were dirty – looking as though they hadn’t been washed at all; many windows had cobwebs (similar to the issue with the front porch) - Because they did not move the furniture off the deck and porches, when they pressure washed, it through dirt and debris up on the furniture, covering chairs and tables. We had recently cleaned all of the furniture; it had been clean before they did their work. - The back porch had significant areas with obvious dirt. - At the bottom of the steps off of the back deck, there are pavers with gravel around them; the pressure washing they did disturbed and scattered the gravel and no attempt was made to fix that. I called Mr. Griffin on Thursday morning to let him know about these additional issues and he said he would come back first thing Friday morning (7/31) to address them. Late on Friday morning, when he had not shown up or contacted me, I called him back and got his voice mail. I left a message letting him know that I was anxious to address the issues and that I was holding off on my Angie’s List review to give him an opportunity to correct the problems. The rest of our communications were via text – see below. Mr. Griffin (7/31, 11:37 am): “Good morning. Can you please send pictures of damage to your furniture. Also, we will be in that area this afternoon. I was informed by my brother that he actually slipped and fell as was unable to to get that gutter in questioned but I will make sure that it gets done. Also if you could include the pictures of the work that you said was still dirty? Also as far as the review comment, that’s business we understand that every customer will not be happy with our service. I make sure I have the customer look at the work before the service is paid, just like I did with you before payment was received.” My response (7/31, 12:13 pm): “Sure will send you pictures. You’re right – I should have looked more closely when you finished the work; I guess I was too trusting. Lesson learned.” Followed this text with 15 pictures. My followup (7/31, 1:05 pm): “Let me know if you got the pics. I sent them all at one time so want to make sure they all went through.” Mr. Griffin’s response (7/31, 3:13 pm): “Yes ma’am I received the pictures. Sorry for the delay response was doing a job. Those areas excluding the window seals will be done over and completed. The paint around your window seals can not take to much pressure.” My response (7/31, 7:43 pm): “When do you plan to come by?” Mr. Griffin’s response (7/31, 7:47 pm): “We’ve cleared our schedule for Wednesday to come back and complete the work. Wednesday morning at 9.” My response: (7:31, 7:50 pm): “Ok. Just so you know – that means we cannot use our porch until then because the furniture is filthy. What I would suggest is that we clean the furniture ourselves and you refund us $100.00 for our trouble. And then you come back on Wednesday and take care of the gutters, roof, and front porch.” Mr. Griffin’s last communication (8/4, 9:39 am): “Good morning … the 100.00 you request will be sent by Zelle. I agreed to come on Wednesday to review what was missed but do to the hostile tone and constant calling we do not feel safe returning to your property. Thank you.” My response (8/4, 9:46 am): “Seriously? How have I conveyed a tone that is hostile or threatening in any way? I am very dissatisfied with the quality of the work you did. And now after stating that you would correct it, you are going back on that. The $100 refund was to reimburse me for the cleanup I said I would do – cleaning off my furniture. It does not reimburse me for the shoddy job that was done on the roof, gutters, or porch. As for constant calling, I called you once when I reported the issues. Then again when you didn’t show up as promised on Friday. Since then we’ve been texting and including this one, I’ve sent 5 texts.” Other than the initial visit to provide the estimate, Mr. Griffin’s actions and services have been unreliable and poorly performed. He was quick to point out my failure to inspect his company's work before paying, but ignores his own failure to execute the work properly in the first place or to inspect it himself before asking for payment. He then made multiple commitments to come and address the issues but failed to follow up on those commitments. And I still have not received the $100 refund he promised, which again was to cover only the dirty furniture, not the other issues with the job.
