FORTNER'S LAWN SERVICE

It turns out very well. The workers seem to be very efficient and they are friendly. If I have any questions, they answer them for me and so forth.

I hired Roy about a year ago to handle my weekly lawn and yard maintenance. We were able to negotiate a reasonable monthly fee for him to maintain our residence. Roy?s team did a great job on the lawn. They showed up every week?.sometimes at different times but at least they came. My biggest problem was the lack of contact and communication I had with them. His team members were very unapproachable and always seemed like I was putting them out when I asked a question. If I ever asked for an estimate for additional work to be done I would NEVER receive it. I rarely could get Roy on the phone and when I asked for his opinion on something he always told me not to do it. He came off very LAZY when it came to work ?outside? of our monthly maintenance. If you don?t care if you have any contact with your service people then I would recommend them. As I said they do a very good job.

Roy has done work on our property once before and charged $90 for 2.5 hours of work, which involved mowing and trimming the entire yard, trimming overgrowth on nearly 200 feet of fencing and removing all debris, including fallen limbs. When paying Roy for his services, my wife tipped him an additional $20 for doing such a great job. Thus, when it came time for us to clear our property of all leaves that had fallen, we decided to call Roy again for the leaf removal and general clean up of the property. This time, however, he did not provide ANY estimate of cost; either verbal or written, and said he would have a better idea of the charge when he arrived at our home (6 days after we spoke to him). Unfortunately, when Roy and his 2 man crew arrived they went right to work and provided NO GUIDANCE as to what the charge would be and then when finishing the job in just over 3 hours, he came to the door and told my wife it would be $381!!!!! For clearing leaves? He did not mow or trim the grass, he did not trim any trees or hedges and he left the leaves in bags at our curbside along with 4 large tree limbs that he did not bother to break into pieces for the City of Charlotte crew to remove - thus, after paying $381 I still had to mow and trim my entire yard, break the limbs into pieces for the debris crew to take the following week (which left a dead spot in the grass near the curbside) AND I still had 5 bags of debris to clean up myself. In addition, Roy and his crew decided not to remove any of the debris from the large magnolia (they raked the debris into a circle around the tree), so I now have to remove this myself as well. What exactly did I pay for?? To my disappointment, in speaking with Roy about the price gouging job he did on my wife he showed no remorse, said the price he charged was 'fair' and we should not base our expectations off of the last job he did. He also proceeded to tell me he gave us a DEAL, as he would normally charge more than what he did for 3 hours of work. Given the ENORMOUS discrepancy from one job to the next, given the ENORMOUS callousness of his attitude and given the obvious unfair business practices, I will never again recommend this man or his crew to anyone. As a member of our neighborhood association board I have reached out to our 781 neighbors and told them to do the same - and listed Roy on Rip-off report as well. Unfortunately for Roy, as the owner of a service based business he does not seem to have any sense that his actions are considered by the State of North Carolina as Price Gouging. And unfortunately for Roy he will apparently find out the hard way. I cannot, in good faith, recommend that anyone use Fortner's Lawn Service again.

Roy was very prompt in returning our call and coming out for an estimate. He said they would be out in a week or so, and they actually came a few days sooner than expected. Overall, they did a great job. The landscaping in the front of our house was meticulously sculpted, improving our curb appeal. The bushes were trimmed down, trees were cleaned up, and the grass was cut and edged perfectly. In the back, they trimmed several more trees and bushes and cleaned up many weeded areas. Until our house sells, Roy and his team will be cutting the grass and providing basic upkeep. We are very pleased with their work.

Excellent. They came with very short notice, did a great job and the yard looks fantastic. They seem to take personal pride in their work.

I was amazingly pleased with how everything went from start to finish. I called on Wednesday and work was done onFriday. The team was quick, efficient, professional and friendly and my yard looks brand new. Every day since when I see it I'm tickled pink at the lovely job they did, it's like a whole new yard. Will definitely use again!

I called Fortner's after another company failed, twice, to come as promised. Roy added me to his schedule quickly and came to the house within days. He blew all of the leaves off my lawn at no additional charge and then aerated, seeded and fertilized. My lawn was in terrible shape before and now I've got great grass growing. There are still bare spots, but the lawn has greatly improved. I also didn't call until mid-October, so a couple nights of freezing cold probably didn't help. I will definitely call Roy again come Spring and will probably use him for more service after the next round of seeding.

The first time I used Roy the yard had not been cut in three weeks as I had been out of town. I called Roy on a Sunday a.m. and he was there that afternoon. I find Roy one of the few people who takes absolute pride in his work. He checks on his workers. We do not have a set day as if we have bad weather I don't want mower tracks in the yard but he is here every week. I pay by the month as I am not at home every time he comes. The only times he has missed a week is when he is on vacation which is about once every two years. I highly recommend him. He also put down a brick walkway around the left side and back of my yard where grass will not grow and it looks great.

They are doing a very good job. Sometimes they are a little late, but they do what they are supposed to do. They answer my questions, and they really seem to know what they are doing.

He does fine at cutting grass, but I came home yesterday and found numerous bushes cut/trimmed, without prior permission. The worst issue is that they cut the hydrangeas nearly to the ground, which means they won't bloom this year. They also trimmed flower buds off other bushes, and cut the boxwoods that I'm about to remove. He doesn't communicate when his crew decides to do "extra" work (earlier they applied weed killer without my permission even though I explicitly told him not to use ANY chemicals on my yard as I try to maintain an organic yard). Less of an issue, but still annoying, is that he runs about two months behind on sending bills. I will discontinue using him.

I have no complaints whatsoever. I've been able to forget about lawn care this year, and that's not because of the drought. Roy is dependable. There were a couple times when he didn't do the work on the regularly scheduled day but he then came the next day. On the rare occasions when I needed to speak with him, Roy returns telephone calls promptly. This is the second year I've used Fortner's Lawn Service and intend to hire him again next season.

Roy was very responsive and after calling Roy quickly got in touch with me and set up and appointment to provide an estimate and schedule a start date. Once we agreed upon a start date Roy showed up on time and worked until the job was completed. After all the work was complete Roy took time to walk through and explain everything that was done and what was required on my end. My yard looks 10X better after the first visit and I intend on having Roy upkeep my yard for the year. I would definitely recommend to others and will be using Roy s company for all future landscaping and yard work.

He never returns my phone calls, and he's not yet done any trimming. When I finally spoke to him, he did send me an estimate on prices. He started doing the work on his own, even though I wanted to get a schedule set with him. I explained that I needed to hear back from him and communicate with him, since I only call him when it is necessary. He was supposed to come out and start work for me, but then never returned any more calls or came back out to finish any work. He seemed to be unhappy with the way I told him that I needed to make sure we could communicate.

Very easy to work with Roy and his crew and we will continue to use his company in the future based on his professionalism and knowledge of the industry.

We've used Roy for about a year now, and we can honestly say he's fantastic. Our lawn has never looked better--according to our neighbors. He does come on different days, but he always gets the work done. Knows his stuff, and an all around, hardworking guy. Highly recommend!

A SMALL BUSINESS THAT IS VERY DEPENDABLE, ALTHOUGH DOESN'T ALWAYS COME ON SAME DAY--SOMETIMES 6 DAYS BETWEEN VISITS, SOMETIME 8. CAME ONCE ON SATURDAY. SENDS A BILL MONTHLY VIA THE MAIL. AFTER HE DID THE YARD A COUPLE TIMES HE SAID THAT HE UNDERPRICED THE WORK BUT SINCE WE HAD AGREED ON A SPECIFIC PRICE HE STAYED WITH IT. TO ME, THAT REFLECTS WELL ON HIS BUSINESS ETHICS. THEY ARE ALSO DOING MY FALL AERATION, ETC. I WILL HIRE THEM AGAIN NEXT YEAR FOR WEEKLY SERVICE.

I'VE NEVER USED ANYONE, EITHER CORPORATE OR INDIVIDUAL, WHO TAKES AS MUCH PRIDE IN THEIR WORK AS HE DOES. THE YARD HAS IMPROVED 100% SINCE HE STARTED WORKING ON IT, AND I LEFT THE LARGER LAWN MAINTENANCE COMPANY.

WORK IS DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER. ROY EXPLAINS WHAT IS NEEDED SUCH AS PRE-EMERGENT WEED CONTROL, ETC.

I HAVE USED HIM FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. HE REALLY TURNED MY YARD AROUND. HE TAKES SUCH PRIDE IN HIS WORK. HE REALLY LOVES HIS WORK. HE IS JUST GREAT!
