I guess it was ok, but I did not end up buying any of the other services from them. They said it was leaking and recommended for me to purchase additional services that they offered, but the big deal was ok. Their customer service didn't stand out like some of the other companies that I have used.

The service was very informative and helpful. I got to watch and walk through the service with them and they explained everything they were doing and how we could improve things. I would use them again.

They did a great job on that. The scheme of their business plan is after they do that they try and push green energy products like the aluminum reflection in the roof and solar. It helped us decide what we are going to do to improve our house efficiency.

I was very pleased with the assessment. I never actually had the additional service performed. But they were very professional. They explained everything thoroughly. They were very conscientious.

They identified a couple of areas where cool area could get in, but everything was in good shape so there was no need for follow up. They gave me a few options of work that could be done, but I chose to not go through with the work. They did a good job with the assessment and they gave me a full report of what they found which was nice.

Matt provided us with a very thorough energy assessment. His 24 page report included thermal images of our home showing where energy was escaping. He provided information on the efficiency of our furnaces and air conditioners (we have a finished basement) and our windows. He assessed the performance of our wall, floor and attic insulation and told us where we had air leaks throughout the house. He then offered suggestions about what we might want to do to make our home more energy efficient. We agreed to sign a 2 year agreement for twice annual checks of our two systems for $259.00 total. After the first year we called to schedule our Spring 2012 inspection, only to find out their phone had been disconnected. After a few calls, we found a number for Ross and Whitman Inc. who apparently had bought out Energy Tight and it's customer lists. All ended well as Matt was with the new company and did our inspections for 2012. We have been pleased with Matt's work and will continue with the company as long as he is there.

There were additional charges to the Big Deal because we used the whole thing and then had to pay more. The pricing was just about right. I thought they did a good job and everything still looks great. As far as I remember, they were very professional and communicated very well. I've nothing negative to say about them.

The operations team arrived on time and performed the services in the course of one day. They were professional and pleasant.
The attic insulation looked fine – and plentiful.
We were unable to inspect the air seal work of the attic and crawl space but were shown pictures of examples of the work that had been done.
We were able to see the work done on the windows and doors, and we were not at all satisfied. For the doors, we were able to see gaps in the seal and light still coming in through the door frame.
The work on the windows was not what had been agreed to with Mitch.
Using his equipment, Mitch showed us that all of the windows needed some amount of sealing. He said they would use a foam insulation inside the window frame. When the operations techs arrived, instead of using equipment, the foreman eyeballed the windows and decided that not all of them needed seal work. And further, instead of using a foam insulation that Mitch had described, he used a silicone sealant only on the outside of the house and only on the bottoms of the selected windows.
The seal work was very messy and not at all what we were expecting. The silicone sealant was showing on the windows and on the siding of the house.
We contacted the company about the problems with doors and windows. Mitch reassured us that the silicone would cure and blend into the siding. It didn’t. An operations tech come back twice to address the door seals, and ultimately decided that he could not fix the problem.
With this company, there is a discrepancy with the services that are sold and execution of said services.
We were guaranteed a 20% energy usage reduction for the house. We have monitored our kilowatt usage every month and have seen less than a 5% reduction.
Our belief is that while we received value for the insulation, we received no value for the sealing of the attic, crawl space, windows, and doors.
We also contracted with the company for yearly maintance of our HVAC system. However they contacted us in the fall of 2011 saying they were declaring bankrupsy. Because of this, we never contact them about the energy usage guarantee.
We are honestly surprised that this company is still in business, and feel ripped off.

"Customer, Im sorry that you had such a poor experience with Energy Tight. Our company, Ross and Witmer, aquired Energy Tight at the beginning of 2012, and yes they were in fact about to shut down. We valued their tools, experience, and believed that that the energy consultants were professional and knowledgeable. I can't speak to their service before our aquisition, and Mitchell was only part of the team for a short time under our ownership, but I can assure you that we have redefined the Energy Tight approach. We are proud of our abilities, customer service, and results - as are many other satisfied Angie's List members. In fact we just recieved notification that we won the Super Service award for the second year in a row. It is unfortunate that you had a bad experience with the old Energy Tight team but we welcome you to give us another shot at any future home performance needs. Please let me know if I can help in any way. Regards, Geoff Eloge Director of Residential Services Ross and Witmer, and Energy Tight"

I was quite happy with the process and the service. They come out and perform the audit and you get a detailed full colour report a little later. They were able to discuss my concerns clearly and concisely and helped me prioritize any improvements I might choose to make.
The only mistake they made was to point to an uninsulated wall based on observations from one side of it. After I read the report I verified the wall is actually insulated, but I can see how the structure in the area could fool them. From the attic side it looks like an uninsulated wall, but a more careful look when you crawl in shows it is the vertical component of trusses against exterior sheathing and the wall is insulated behind the exterior sheathing (I verified it to be sure).
I was very happy with everything except this one error. In the worst case the mistake might have led me to spend money I did not have to, but even that worst case wouldn't be so bad - more (properly installed) insulation is never a bad thing and even new houses in my area have pretty poor R and U values.

The crew was very professional, kept everything clean and explained every part thorougly. For someone that had just purchased the home a year before using a home inspector I couldn't believe how bad the house was. For story, see above. And if asked I would recommend them very highly.

The initial audit was 2 or 3 hundred dollars. The work Energy Tight did was pretty good. I think they were more expensive than I would have liked. If I had the chance again, I would look into more companies. I could have had it done for less. But I don't know if the quality would be as good.

"Member, It sounds like you had a positive experience. We certainly aren't the cheapest company in town and that's simply the result of striving for the highest levels of quality and customer service. Please keep us in mind for the future. The energy audit was very detailed.
We discovered that we didn't need to replace the windows after all -- there were many other areas that made for a better ROI.
The work was done in a timely manner after we decided to go forward with the project.
Within just a few days of the work being done, we could tell a difference in the house. The air conditioner and heater didn't have to run as much to keep the house at a comfortable temperature. (before the work was done, even with the AC running full blast, the house didn't cool down)
Right after the work was done, we discovered that the front door had been insulated so well that the lock would no longer close. they were very prompt to come out and fix that.
When it was time for our spring inspection of our HVAC system, we discovered that the filter door on the humidifier had been sealed shut. Brandon responded very quickly and made sure that the additional mastic was removed.

The only thing that made a difference was the attic tent which we could have bought and installed ourselves for a fraction of the price. It was a learning experience. I would probably not do that again.

"I hate to hear that you weren't fully satisfied with the work that was done at your home. Your project occured before my company aquired Energy Tight so I can only refer back to your file for job specific info. I would be more than happy to send one of our consultants out to your home - at no charge to you - to review the scope and confirm proper installation. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction so please let me know how we can help. Thanks! Geoff Eloge Director of Residential Services"

Mitchell and his crew were very helpful and professional in assessing and addressing our energy conservation needs. The work was done with great attention to detail except for one flooring replacement which was remedied quickly. Very happy with the results.

"Members, Thanks again for your business. I'm happy to hear about another positive customer experience. As we all know, mistakes (accidents) can happen on the job, but only the good companies will stand behind their work and solve the problem in a proper and efficient manner. This is something that we preach to our people, so its great to know that the flooring issue was solved to your expectations. Again, we greatly appreciate your business and your feedback and we look forward to an opportunity to work with you again in the future. Regards, Geoff Eloge Director of Residential Services"
